Great Network Monitoring System
What do you like best about the product?
PRTG is very responsive; as long as you set up your sensors correctly, you won't need to worry about missing an alert. They offer timely support, as well as online tutorials that are easy to follow in case I need assistance
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to think of something I dislike about PRTG Network Monitor. I would say, though, that because it has so many things that need configuring, you may encounter a few issues initially
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in the lottery business, where we have a reasonably large infrastructure. It is critical to maintain the uptime of our infrastructure, so I use PRTG to help me know what is happening in my network as soon as it happens

New User and Loving it
What do you like best about the product?
I tend to be an information junkie when it comes to technology and this suite definitely delivers. I am in love with the level of information I can see and I am still learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve to setup some of the features is not super intiuative. Something like setting up a custom map takes more time than I would like to make it pretty but it does work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The organization did not previously have a good monitoring system in place. This implementation filled that gap so accurate information about what is going on and when is now collected and taken action on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will need to spend some time not just in initial setup, but tracking down what is one your network and entering all the relevant information or selecting the right sensors to deploy. It is not a set it and forget it system, but it is well worth the time.

What do you like best about the product?
The real-time analytics are fantastic, no words to explain. I was shocked the very first time I worked on this tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing till now. I have never encountered an issue with PRTG.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Physical & virtual Infrastructure monitoring. The values are instantaneous and which helps the monitoring team take proactive steps in order to avoid outages and business impact.

Once you use this to monitor your infrastructure, you will simply fall in love with this tool.
PRTG for Network Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
We are using PRTG for network monitoring & server monitoring. It provides us with a Web-based GUI dashboard that can easily understand by even beginners. We can add the devices in it & set parameters according to it. It provides an alert system that we can configure on email & SMS too. We have configured our routers & switched devices from both datacenters in it & set the CPU utilization, Uptime, bandwidth monitor, incoming & outgoing traffic & also configured IPS link status.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have been using PRTG for the last three years & the only major issue we found is with the product cost as it's expensive compared to other market available solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PRTG has resolved our problems, such as bandwidth monitoring & network devices monitoring. It also helps us to monitor the ISP link & interfaces. We have also configured our remote branch datacenter devices as well so that we can look it as a centerlized monitoring tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
PRTG is a complete bundle of monitoring tools for the network as well as server management. I highly recommend PRTG for all your monitoring solutions.
Not only a network monitor
What do you like best about the product?
SNMP OiD library and flexible mib import features provide more network and device visibility for network engineers like me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Gui and console would be much smooth and responsive.

Network device bandwidth and anomaly visibility are everything for network engineers these days.

What do you dislike about the product?
Only one thing I have about this tool is can flood false positive notification every sec and If the notification is connected to your ticketing system it will arise a lot of tickets not unless you will pause/stop the alert function.

What do you like best about the product?
PRTG affords us the ability to focus on completing projects as well as beginning new projects without having to worry about manually monitoring the health of the devices that comprise our networks.
What do you dislike about the product?
While we love PRTG's library of sensors, it would be nice if the tool they offered for SNMP walks would align with MIB files to identify corresponding device states, descriptions, etc. This is mostly a nit-pick, as even SolarWinds' walk tool doesn't really offer this, but it would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use PRTG to monitor network health. We are alerted anytime a change is detected that does not match parameters we've set for devices, so that issues are dealt with swiftly and before they turn serious, which saves us time and money in the long-term.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're using SolarWinds, try out PRTG's Network Monitor trial. You'll notice that the interface is much cleaner and feels less cluttered. Device monitoring is just as fast and efficient as in SolarWinds.
Solid on-prem device monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
PRTG gives you the ability to automatically scan and add devices to monitor or hand pick what devices and what aspects of those devices you want to monitor.
PRTG also has a customizable map feature that allows you to choose monitoring stat displays and set them up on a rotating display, great for NOC type monitoring of large amounts of data or devices.
The automated email feature for devices works extremely well.

There is a bit of a learning curve when setting it up as a custom monitoring solution, but the documentation has gotten much better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently we are monitoring gateways for multiple locations as well as individual devices (AP's, core systems) across multiple OS platforms.

Even the free version of this program is extremely feature rich, worth setting up for an extended trial run.
PRTG is a lifesaver
What do you like best about the product?
PRTG has been instrumental in allowing us to setup real time active monitoring of all web servers and continually evaluate resource management and usage across boxes. With built in selectable sensors covering a vast array of areas you would be hard pressed to find areas not covered. PRTG was easy to setup and use with documentation online to follow as needed. We are currently using for limited purposes so still fall into the free range of sensors but are looking to expand in the future to more devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once you go over 100 sensors the pricing can go up quickly. Initially upon install PRTG wanted to auto scan and add all devices on the network - maybe I missed something but I spent a bunch of time then removing devices I did not want it to list currently. The user interface is decent but could be slightly more polished.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have multiple web servers that we wanted real time notificatons and warnings on when certain limits were reached regarding both CPU usage and memory usage. This allows us to track and proactively handle issues before customers and clients can call in reporting slowness on their sites. With the built in email and text notifications you can receive these anytime and anywhere.
