Has streamlined high-volume data analysis and mobile access while facing challenges with pricing and complexity

What is our primary use case?

My company has been using Domo for quite a while, for a very long time. Domo became popular to us in 2019, so we've been using Domo since then, in early 2020s, so downwards.

I'm the CEO of AIOT and I'm the one leading an e-commerce line for one key in Africa. We use Domo for data management. It was something we were heavily using before, but we are not relying on it anymore. We've moved to CRM platforms such as Zoho Corporation. In the past, for data management, we sampled a lot of data and transformed it into useful information that helped to upscale our businesses. We use it on behalf of certain people that have a lot of data, certain companies, to have a form of data sampling and for us to turn information into actions that are quite productive.

When I first started, my company has really grown. Back then, it was just me and one of my staff that is no longer with us. He was the one that did the handling and everything and I was just there monitoring. We were just two of us.

What is most valuable?

Domo is quick and has a name for itself. Even way back, companies such as DHL have been using it and we do a lot of distribution with DHL in Africa, specifically in Nigeria. The fact that you can integrate it with CRM platforms itself and there's a special feature that enables you to utilize AI is beneficial. You can use AI to create AI agents and utilize it with CRM software such as Salesforce, which is a very big addition to it.

Having Domo on your phone makes it more feasible for our staff to handle data on the go, rather than being stuck in one place carrying a PC.

There are many valuable features, especially the charts and graphs that make it easy to pass information to people that are not really technical. Just by looking at the charts and graphs, it is really comprehensive. There's also the dashboards, the interactive dashboard features, and the maps. An AI-powered feature helps to automate tasks and provide good insights.

What needs improvement?

In the past, most of the complaints about using Domo were about the pricing structure being more expensive than regular ones. Some complained that it's too elaborate and too intricate.

The major downside for Domo is the pricing structure, which is a big turnoff for everyone. Domo has been existing since 2010 and became popular around 2017-2018. If they actually work on their pricing structure, more people would be inclined to use Domo.

They could improve their AI capabilities. AI agents and many AI-based platforms are now using voice commands. In Domo you could use SQL, but they haven't really harnessed the full capabilities of AI. There are many ways to interact with AI that could be added to new updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with this solution for approximately six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In the past, we were not really using cloud-based platforms. One that caught our eye for a very long time was Salesforce.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There were quite some few bumps, but I was able to find my way around because of my technical know-how. However, from a layman's perspective, you wouldn't be able to. Many people have to consult third party resources, watch EVM videos online, or refer to manuals, especially during the deployment stage.

How are customer service and support?

I have used the customer service, but it's still a new feature. We used it before, but we haven't currently used it for some period.

I haven't used the solution recently.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

It was just between Domo and Salesforce because there's overlap between CRM software and BI software, though BI has more functionalities. For our company, we had to weigh if there were things Salesforce could do that Domo couldn't do. Domo can do everything Salesforce can do. We realized we may not really need to use Domo. We could just use Salesforce to handle our data and everything.

How was the initial setup?

At first we started to use on-premises, then moved to cloud-based because it saves space, saves data, and saves stress. It's better for them to handle all the challenges, so it's cloud-based.

What was our ROI?

In the past, we've seen ROI, especially because Domo pricing structure is not really based on how much you use it. It's based on the functionalities that you're accessing on their platform on the cloud-based platform. Domo can charge as much as $100,000. If you're actually using Domo at a very limited case and you're being charged $20,000, we've seen ROI there, but once it goes really high, you really need to check your metrics and check your profit.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The payment parts were handled by my accountant as I wasn't around at that moment, but basically from what she said, I think it was directly from Domo.

What other advice do I have?

Learning is a steady curve, so you need to give it time, you need to take your time. Don't just try to put immense data in your head at once or try to learn all the aspects of Domo at once. Just take it slow and steady. The more you try certain aspects and you see how it turns out for your business, you get more inclined to use it. Just take it one step at a time.

Because of the new AI features, I rate Domo as seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Powerful for transformation and dashboards, but development features can present challenges

  • September 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Domo is its flexibility in data transformation. Magic ETL provides a visual, intuitive way to build even complicated data flows, and the Python tile integration gives me the freedom to layer in custom logic whenever ETL tiles aren’t enough. I also enjoy how Domo dashboards go beyond standard charts—features like Variables and Segments make it possible to create interactive, tailored views that really stand out when I have the time to refine them. Once data is in Domo, it’s easy to combine multiple sources and build something impactful. The automation capabilities are another major strength, helping me deliver dynamic dashboards that not only save time but also consistently impress leadership. Personally I've never had to work with customer support teams, I've always been able to figure out all of its features on my own.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Domo is that some of the back-end features feel clunky when doing development work. Debugging ETLs can feel cumbersome since error messages are not always descriptive. Testing changes often requires duplicating flows or dashboards, which creates clutter. Beast Mode is useful, but at times it feels like an oversimplification that limits flexibility compared to a full SQL environment. When building dashboards, certain features—particularly how null values are handled—can become barriers to presenting clean, precise data. Pivot tables are another pain point, since their small row limits often prevent me from displaying all the data at once, which makes it harder to use them for deeper analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) Combining External Data Sources

Problem: I work with data from our ERP systems and 3rd party external sources, and these often live in silos, making it difficult to build a unified view of our business in the industry.

Benefit: With Domo, I’m able to combine these datasets, align them on common structures, and present a comprehensive view of our performance. This gives leadership the ability to see the bigger picture and make better-informed strategic decisions.

2) External Dashboards for Vendors & Customers

Problem: Sharing performance and inventory information with OEMs, vendors, or customers traditionally meant creating static reports, emails, or spreadsheets, which were time-consuming and quickly outdated.

Benefit: By using Domo, I can build live dashboards that provide real-time visibility. This strengthens vendor and customer relationships by improving transparency, building trust, and reducing friction in negotiations.

3) Improving Forecasting Methods

Problem: Forecasting has historically relied on static, manual tools that didn’t easily account for the specific logic we use for our industry.

Benefit: Domo gives me the ability to blend ETL logic, Python scripting, and dynamic dashboards to improve forecast accuracy. This helps align inventory with demand and strengthens financial planning across the business.

4) Ease of Access to ERP Data

Problem: Accessing ERP data directly can be cumbersome, requiring technical queries, IT involvement, or lengthy exports.

Benefit: By surfacing ERP data in Domo dashboards, I can make critical information immediately accessible to myself and to leadership. This accelerates decision-making and empowers business users without over-reliance on IT.

Easy to use and quicker to make visualizations, but needs improvement in analysis capabilities

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is really easy to make basic graphs, dashboards, etc as well as being very visually appealing
What do you dislike about the product?
Domo graphs & beast modes cannot handle some complex calculations like nested beast modes / calculated fields, as well as window functions for Year over Year, month over month, etc. Additionally, not as many graphs available at your disposal as other softwares, and the platform tends to glitch a lot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy and quick data importing and reporting
