Get a grip on your metrics

  • November 05, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Setting up is easy, and you can easily see whatever data is sent through the system. Very easy to add another destination to push your data to or add another source, for that matter.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to debug if you have just missed the data entry. So you cannot see a small history of events. You still have to keep the discipline to set up your metrics in a good way within the company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting a grip on the data that comes from all kinds of sources, and make sure every integration gets that same data. Also easy to backup such data by pushing it to a data warehouse.

Easy to setup and really performant

  • November 05, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was really easy to install, in a few clicks you can add difference sources of data and setup the destinations. We use it with our own app and also intercom, salesforce, Hubspot, aws, sisense...
What do you dislike about the product?
With the basic plan, we can't filter on the data we want to send to the destinations. Also there is no historic of what has been sent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Send data between different tools

Just send data to segment, rest will be handled

  • November 05, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In our apps, we don't need to have multiple tools to manage different data and analytic scenarios. We set up everything on segment, apps just need to send all data there, our segment setup will handle the rest.
What do you dislike about the product?
From software engineer perspective, there is nothing we disliked
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using multiple services for analytics and user data management. Everything is connected to Segment, so apps don't have to deal with all, just Segment.

What do you like best about the product?
the web ui is very simple to use, and allows non-engineers to add new analytics platforms without code change
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functionalities like filtering are behind the business plan, which may be prohibitive for some.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use segment to send Identify and Tracking analytics to multiple destinations

A lot of colorful features

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The dashboard is very useful and you have a lot of features to analyze our data. In my case, I use to read the tracking plans to implement tracking on our application, and it's easy for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I lost on the dashboard because it's difficult for me to find what I want.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track our users' activity to improve their experience and solve their problems and needs. Also, we use violations to check our product.

Simple yet powerful solution, even for non-technical marketers

  • November 04, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
One of the things I like best us that segment is intuitive by design and very user-friendly. One of the best aspects is that you can quickly see which data sources are connected and no longer having to remember which sources are connected to which destinations (and how), but rather Segment shows in the overview the current connections, making them easy to audit.
The number of sources and destinations is also great, and this is expanded on by the segment team. So apart from the main ones (Google Analytics, Facebook, Google Tag Manager, etc.) there are other, lesser known integrations possible as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the biggest strengths is also something that can cause dislike: because Segment is at the center of sources and destinations, you can quickly become dependent on it. As companies scale, it would become increasingly difficult to remove Segment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the past, all tools would need to be connected to one another directly. This works fine when it's only a couple of sources and destinations, but as complexity grows, so does the need to maintain the overview and adjust source/destinations. Segment makes it easy to maintain this overview, and to add new sources/destinations with just a few clicks, ensuring the data-flow between them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's worth checking out if it's right for you - keep in mind that the ease comes at a cost: once it's integrated, it'll be increasingly difficult to remove from your current setup. Additionally, as your organization scales, you will assumedly receive more traffic to your site, which means more events sent to the various destinations. As a result, pricing is going to increase over time as well.

Game Changer for unified events across our tool stack as well as tool integration speed

  • November 04, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is a series of key events that users take on our website and in our apps. It's just great that you define those events only once and can then push them to all your tool destinations. Our CRM is in sync with our ads accounts, with our marketing automation, with our analytics tools, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
I was about to write that we're using Hubspot and that there is no Hubspot destination in Segment. When we initially connected Segment with Hubspot, we did it via Zapier, which felt like a bit of a crutch. But just checked now and saw it has been added. So that's again rather something I like ;-)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) All our key-events are unified across our entire tool stack
2) Previously, trying out new tools always required a bit of engineering work. The great thing about Segment is that once events are setup by the engineering team, pretty much anyone can connect tools that will receive all events immediately. Marketing could try out different tools for paid ads. Customer Service and Sales could try out different CRM tools, etc. All without having to involve Engineering.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have multiple teams using different tools but want to work on a unified, secure, reliable set of data, Segment is the way to go.

Allows me to easily collect and connect my data

  • November 04, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We have several different sources of data as well as about a dozen destinations we need that data to flow. Segment allows me, without outside help, to connect things very quickly. Since we work with an outside agency to deploy much of our scripts and code on our website I was worried that as I started to build out our demand gen engine and bring new MarTech solutions onboard, I would have to have a ton of back and forth with our agency. But Segment has such a big catalog, most of the tech we deployed, I was able to do myself without much trouble at all. There were always plenty of support documents from Segment as well as from the other vendor on how to integrate with Segment.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I have run into a problem (not very often) trying to implement things, it was sometimes a challenge to work with support since I am not the one who implemented our instance and also I am not super code literate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tring to connect multiple sources of data to other destinations so we could have all the data in the right places. One of the biggest benefits have been deploying other products onto our website without having to get in and code or work with our dev team.

Fantastic solution for abstracting out your analytics instrumentation and data pipeline

  • November 04, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to have a straightforward, single API for instrumenting all needed analytics events. A powerful debugger to help troubleshoot any instrumentation issues, and the flexibility of choosing from a variety of tools and storage services to pipe event data to.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only challenge I faced with Segment is the difficulty of determining which segment API calls equates to the needed commands for the analytics tool I'm siphoning data to. This requires a lot doc reading and some trial and error.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The reason we decided to use and stick with Segment is we knew we wanted to explore a variety of analytics tools without committing to one and having the comfort of not needing a complex data migration if we changed our minds in the future.
