Powerful but complex
What do you like best about the product?
Segment is a great tool to collect, manage and persist data from different sources and across multiple channels. There are a lot of native integrations which you can use to connect your current tech stack and select to where you want to store it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not easy to implement Segment. It was made to accommodate different types of companies therefore its architecture is really flexible. You will need specialized labor, a lot of thought, and weeks to sort out the different types of calls, where to use each one in your own case, how to name the events and properties, and go on.
Although, it's this complexity that makes it powerful. But it could have some no or low-code features and some kind of auto-captured events.

Integrate once, push everywhere.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the way that segment is quite easy for developers to integrate with and is easy to configure where to send that data. It's easy to add any new destinations .
What do you dislike about the product?
Segment gets very expensive over time and becomes just as hard to pull out. So it essentially causes the same problem that it solves but unsure if that is every going to be solved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having to integrate several product data SDK's and then having control about where they go without investing engineering time. It provides future proofing and giving control over your data.
Solid for Audience Building and Data Ingestion
What do you like best about the product?
Segment has proven a great out of the box option for ingesting site data and building audiences off this data. It is an easy to use UI, though with limited options for customization.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have since moved to an in-house solution for data ingestion and audiencing due to the cost and lack of options with Segment. Because it is a good out-of-the-box and easy-to-use option, it doesn't offer us all of the solutions we would love to have and can build in-house. However, for smaller companies without dedicated resources for data ingestion, Segment is a perfect solution!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment is helping us build data ingestion pipelines and create audiences off this data, giving us a way to track users throughout the funnel and sending this data to our redshift warehouse.
Great tool for marketing campaigns
What do you like best about the product?
Easy Integration with other third-party applications in order to target user groups. Not complicated to modify. Gives us great insight into the user journey and allows us to analyze events easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hypersegmentation is complicated and not necessarily possible. Difficult to pinpoint issues when integrating with other tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Targeting the right customers at the right time. Understanding user behaviour.
A simple and convenient to more your analytical data from one service to another
What do you like best about the product?
We can pump all our customer and other analytical data straight into Segment, and from there it can be piped into nearly any external service we need it to.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does require some developer work on occasion it would be good to avoid this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment solves the problem of how we know what our users are doing and how they are interacting with our platform. Because of Segment all of this data is available in Intercom for us to quickly see whent talking to customers and also when reaching out to them en masse.
Pretty clear
What do you like best about the product?
Seems like it make sense as a first data collection point and router. I like the dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe it will get extremely expensive as I grow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Taking data from my react native app and moving event data to other tools
A tool for you to easily add 3rd party integrations to your site
What do you like best about the product?
Very convenient too for adding a 3rd party integration data pipeline to a site
What do you dislike about the product?
Could sometimes be hard to gain insight or debug when an integration doesn't work
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No-code solution to adding 3rd party integration to our site
The connections product and customer services
What do you like best about the product?
The Connection product is reliable and documentation is upto date, allowing someone to self serve and not rely on customer services.
The customer services team are very helpful and transparent on when issues are being worked on or there is a delay.
The customer services team are very helpful and transparent on when issues are being worked on or there is a delay.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Event Delivery functionality within a destination (part of the Connections product) needs some work. It is confusing to know exactly the success / failure rate for a given time period.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Sending data to our Snowflake data warehouse
- Sending data to marketing destinations

Great user experience
What do you like best about the product?
Segment's UI and setup makes it incredibly user-friendly and easy to use. It's detailed documentation also gives you all the information you need to get started immediately.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a number of sources and destinations that are not available on Segment yet. Specifically CRM destinations and integrations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're sending all event-driven data from our website, app, and cloud sources via Segment to our data warehouse and a few key destinations. Being able to do with limited dev resources has been a massive time saver.
Compelling for realtime personalization of products
What do you like best about the product?
A few key highlights with Segment:
1. Lots of pre-built integrations to hook into existing customer data sources and destinations
2. Identity resolution capabilities to merge duplicate customers and resolve identities when partial information is available
3. The realtime Profile API enabling personalization of internal products with the rich customer profiles available within the Segment CDP

What do you dislike about the product?
Although the Protocols add-on looks particularly valuable (provides a way to centralize tracking plans and provide some rigor on what data is entering the CDP), it is priced quite steeply.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment CDP enables us to know our customers by enabling the:
1) Data Collection on customer behaviors across all of our products and services
2) Data Aggregation for building a single “Golden” customer profile
3) Data Activation by distributing the customer profile to our warehouse, our products, and our 3rd party systems
