Solid Product Analytics Platform

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude offers the ability to understand user behaviors at a granular level, and is particularly helpful is helping us track our conversion funnel and the drop off points within that funnel.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be helpful for those on the starter plan if Amplitude offered the ability to upgrade specific premium features a la carte as opposed to requiring to upgrade plans to get access to all of the premium features. We don't need the growth plan from a traffic/events volume perspective, but would like to access a couple of the growth plan features like pathfinder.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude helps my team understand which products are more/less popular, to break down user behaviors between different user segments, and to identify where we have opportunities to improve within our conversion funnel.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Amplitude offers great, responsive customer support even for those on its free starter plan.

Powerful insights with little code and few clicks

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can quickly gain insight into the paths users take through the application and figure out probabilities of one event based on another event occurring first. I can easily change the display type and convey important information to company stakeholders that is actionable. We've learned lots of interesting insights in a short period of time already.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude has a bit of a learning curve -- I think some members of our team feel intimidated or unsure how to take the events and find meaningful information. This is probably their fault to a degree, though -- learning anything new requires some effort :)

I think it would be nice for "environments" (e.g. local, dev, staging, production) to be more of a first-class feature instead of having to create separate projects for each environment. For instance, we could tag the initializer function with the environment and then have dashboards where you can select the environment to run queries against.

I wish events could also be grouped together better. For instance, if I want to create a funnel where the first event X happens once, then the same event has happened 3 times and event Y has also happened, I don't see a great way to have that second set of criteria be grouped together to act like an event.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* We have been able to track correlations between users using our in-app notifications feature with the likelihood that users issue a purchase order through our system.
* We've been able to track the effectiveness of our autocomplete functionality and how that translates to issuing product requisitions in our app
* We've been able to track user flows when the user takes no meaningful action within our application

We are planning on enabling cohorts at some point which should allow us to better track groups of users that meet certain criteria -- I'm excited for that!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't have much experience with an analytics product, give this a try a few times and play around with different features and you'll get a better idea of how to uncover insights. Take advantage of the product tours!

Great Experience

What do you like best about the product?
I use the funnel analysis on a daily basis
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the barrier to entry for some of the new products
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy self serve analytics
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make the newer products over the last few years easy to use. I have been using amplitude for 5 years and I still use the same portions of the product I used 5 years ago. We have the resources to
a) Build our own data pipeline
b) Use dashboarding tools like Tableau
c) Have a data analyst on staff

This tool is perfect for people that cannot achieve the a+b+c on their own.

Comprehensive Behavioral User Analytics

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
From the time we purchased Amplitude, the ease on which you can create charts from events and pin them to a dashboard was tablestakes for us. Amplitude was easier than Mixpanel in this regard, and other tools like Google Analytics (Events) don't come even close.

Building charts quickly gives us the visibility we need into our product's performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude's pricing is too elevated. Overall the tool isn't worth $40k/yr base, and worse yet are the fact that Data Governance tools are sold at a premium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Measuring Product KPIs, analyzing product engagement, and even individual user journeys. Before amplitude we had very little visibility into the success of each feature, implementing event trackers has enabled us to have more data-driven conversations that lead to better-informed decisions.

In addition, amplitude enables us to easily create dashboards with custom event-based graphs that give us visibility into product performance at a glance. We often share this with other team members.

Very useful but poor UX

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I think graphs are a great way to visualize data. I also like the variety of properties and events by which you can filter users
What do you dislike about the product?
When I download things in csv format they are impossible to work with, even after I clean them of white space. I cannot perform operations with them in Excel (sums, index match). Also, I would luke to be able to look up events without creating a separate chart every time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can analyze users’ behaviour and journeys in the app. I can also figure out if there is an issue with stickiness or retention
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think it takes a bit of time to get used to it but once you do it’s an incredibly powerful tool

Better Dashboards for Client Management

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Beautiful charts for client dashboards, which are easy to manage, manipulate, and share in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price structure. I'd like to have access to an account manager, but don't need a full blown enterprise membership.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a m-u-c-h better way to dive into client metrics than trying to sift through Google Analytics. Amplitude makes it easy to find, pull, and track the metrics that are important to each individual client, without overwhelming them with information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it because you literally have nothing to lose! You'll quickly learn the platform and be able to build beautiful dashboards for yourself or your customers!

Great tool to retention analysis.

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The build in rapports, that make it easy to do advanced retention analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's too hard to setup events, event properties, user properties if you're not advanced. Also, the taxonomy is quite hard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A deeper and easier understanding of our users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're not using a tool like Amplitude, then you're seriously falling behind.

Just one word: Incredible!

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy-to-understand interface is the best for me. Everything in Amplitude is pretty clear.
What do you dislike about the product?
TV mode for dashboard needs improvement, I want to see more flexible and customizable tv mode. Additionally, DARK MODE IS REALLY NECESSARY
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can track my users’ every steps and feel them in my mind. Amplitude knows my users better than I do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to keep pace with your users’ events, you definitely use Amplitude!

Making Sense of your Company's Data

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is the primary source for researching user activity. Whether investigating the habits of new leads in the app, or due diligence on recent releases, Amplitude makes filtering and sourcing that information simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a while to learn the terminology and how to interpret datasets within the tool. The documentation can be dry and difficult to understand at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're currently using Amplitude to study user habits. Through the tool we've learned that there are key parts of our software that users take the most interest in, allowing us to target messaging towards said users at those locations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that before moving to Amplitude that your data is clean. Naming can get quite confusing if multiple teams are using different naming conventions.
