Product Analytics Visualization Beast

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use it mostly for product analytics. I really like how they make it easy to create cohorts, modify a report without messing someone else's up, and build a visualization. It makes it easy to build decks for stakeholders and show the impact of the product or the potholes we may be seeing.
What do you dislike about the product?
It may be our internal set up of events but the naming conventions can be tough to understand. The other gripe I have is that I want to have the timing of the report dates most customizable. If I want to have a report that is more than four quarters of data we are unable to do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to run loads of experiments and it is the core visualization of the product data. When you have a product that changes really quickly like our we need to be able to see in "real-time" how changes are impacting our users and Amplitude helps us do this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great tool for product analytics. It makes visualization and experimentation really easy for us.

Flexible and easy tool. Once onboarding your product endless insights could be gathered

  • August 26, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Fast queries. Easy to creat analysis that would be much more time constraints using programmatic tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onboard is complex and time consuming. Verification of the data trueness is critical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility of the product usages and main funnels conversions.

  • August 26, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Good for visualizing flows in UX and understanding impact of experiments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to connect these flows to over-arching business objectives/ KPIs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding how users are behaving inside our Apps and understanding how our experiments impact that behavior.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
make sure it solves your use-cases specifically. It is not one-size fits all.

Amplitude is a great tool for seeing everything in one place!

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to create custom dashboards from all the data and also the ability to share them with others, even if they are outside of your organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the data takes some time to populate, but nothing too crazy to worry about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude Analytics really allows us to view very specific events with our product within a given time range, it's great to be able to compare & contrast multiple sets of data as well.

Fast to Insights

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Once deployed, the speed at which teams can self-discover insights to make fast business decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude is only as good as its deployment and event taxonomy that you as a company employ. There is a lot of overhead to "finally get value" and showcase that value to your executive teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The speed in which Product Managers can discover, learn, and inform their decision making is unparalleled to leveraging a data analyst to answer those same questions. As a PM you may start with one question, but that question leads to more questions and amplitude does a good job at moving quickly to inform your next steps.

The best way to keep track and obtain feedback loops from customers

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is easy to use, it has great tours, videos, and conferences that help you perform all aspects of the platform. It is a great way to be close to users, understand their behavior, and thus be able to provide them with a better product.
I realize that it is vitally important to have this interface in your business
What do you dislike about the product?
Training my team on Amplitude is a little complicated, it takes some engineering part that needs to be covered there are also some graphics that are complicated to understand.
I would like to have the ability to make daily cohorts of users that are returning to do an action every single day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
more than anything to understand users, to be able to provide them with a better product.
understand why there are features to which they do not value and which are the features that generate greater engagement or stickiness
Recommendations to others considering the product:
need engeneering and a lot of patience to use it, when you get to it then it becomes easier

Amplitude Analytics is a great tool for measuring site and app analytics

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to check API health, receipt trend, conversion rates from one step to another. Also, it is a great help in trying to figure out the patterns when something is not working.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you don’t follow their event guidelines it’s hard to use their other features like user flow.
Sometimes events are too much so we have to throttle them as a result we are not able to use it to measure absolute numbers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are measuring funnel metrics and other key product metrics. Anyone can independently use the tool without having any knowledge of sql
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It’s a great tool if you’re low on analytics bandwidth in the company. Many out of box solutions are really good

Great ootb analytics tool

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love the plug and play reporting, love the support team, love the usability of all this.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our company is at the point where we needed more advanced reporting that ties data from a lot different sources, that is cut more granularly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We understand so much about our users and how they use our product from their first moment of engagement, to conversion, to retention. My favorite part is the easy dashboarding for stakeholders.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool for data-shy orgs that don't need a custom in house solution.

Staff Engineer

What do you like best about the product?
I have been very excited about the opportunity to define my own custom dashboards and charts. Recently, I created a dashboard for other engineers in the team to get status on the overall health of the application. I instrumented events for things such as page performance, purchasing flow user errors & success. Having these events in place gives me great confidence in being able to confidently operate our product.

I also find that the developer documentation is good and that it is readily available. When I introduced Amplitude to the codebase and started evangelizing to other teams, I was able to refer to the developer documentation, which made integration easy.

I have also found the recent addition of slack integrations helpful. Before I did not have visibility on when team members added new charts, but now seeing these changes is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
There were some problems earlier with at older versions of amplitude SDK that wrote quite large cookies in the browser, which resulted in 431 HTTP errors in the product. I notice that this is happening less frequently now, but due to running multiple instances of Amplitude under the same domain when using iframes, we still see this error pop up every now and then.

I posted a few questions to Amplitude recently about their suggestions on best practices on how to instrument a few events, but unfortunately I did not hear back. Perhaps this was a mistake, but perhaps offering more help on this front would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are tracking various user funnels, feature use across different screen sizes, tracking page performance & errors etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When instrumenting amplitude events, think what is the question you are trying to answer first.
