Strong analytics but hard to get going

What do you like best about the product?
The detail of the data we can see when using amplitude, you can get down into the weeds.
What do you dislike about the product?
No premade chart templates, so there is a very big cold start problem
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer activation/onboarding stats. We use amplitude to dive into why our customers don't active by looking at their behaviours.

A reliable and easy to learn tool

What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to save custom events and custom user segments so I can easily use them again in other charts. I also like the ability to offset my time window of the charts to make reporting of results easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’d love some more flexibility on the presentation of the final chart.
If I break down a funnel by a certain step, you sometimes have multiple steps at the start of the funnel that are 100% for all properties - id like to be able to hide these to present the data in a more easy to read way for my stakeholders.
I’d also like a bit more flexibility in things like renaming steps/properties at the chart level just for neater, easier to read graphs (a bit like how you can rename user segments, or some event properties).
Lastly it would be nice to be able to add section headers to dashboards, to break out the different parts in an easier to digest manner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use amplitude mostly to identify drop offs in different parts of our site (using the funnel type chart). Or to compare CVR of the site/parts of the site to last month, or last year to see we are improving. And we’ll a also use it to see how many people are using a new feature.
Lastly we’ve recently been using the time to convert type chart to improve our mobile experience.

Complexity to understand by oneself how the tool works

Understand key metrics acquisition, retention, customer profile

Spend a lot of time playing with the tool and trying things... every day

What do you like best about the product?
Tracking every even separately, having our users clustered into multiple cohorts.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that amplitude gets blocked by ad blockers but I know that this is something that is out of your control. We actually found a solution to route all the events through our server but some of the info is lost. Maybe It would be great if we could get the exact event structure from your library and would be able to send the events through our server without any losses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How our features are being used and if the feature is a success or a failure.

Perfect tool for porduct analytics

What do you like best about the product?
A multitude of reports and varios angles you can view data at. Easy organising and sharing reports, build in team collaboration. Context based help. Easy to use interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of automated insigts, like in Google Analytics. Onboarding can be a bit difficult, but it is a sofisticated product!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making better decisions about UX and functionality of a product. Analytics is a key input in our product development

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can quickly, easily, and visually monitor how our app is performing each release. It helps validate that we are on the right track and gives us the insight we need to make informed decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found any down sides to using Amplitude yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Transparency within our core team on how our work is making an impact.
- We can easily see how the work we released is working or not performing as well as we had hoped for our customers
- Ability to make dashboards specific to the data that is important to specific teams or initiatives
- Transparency with leadership and cross-team on how our product is performing

Best analytics on the market

What do you like best about the product?
Event Properties and user properties let us know almost everything about each user
What do you dislike about the product?
Visualisation tools is poor, would like to have more beautiful graphics, and having ability to export as pdf reports
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am looking for drops, wwhere my users decide to do not continue using app.

Also finding anomaly in users Behavior and turn them into future
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have 15 years digital product development expirience. This is the best tool on the market. Love it!

Great Experience for Startup Product Analytics

What do you like best about the product?
The Amplitude software is intuitive to use, and easy to visualize different retention and growth metrics for our business. You're able to create groupings of users who share certain characteristics, and then use those cohorts of users to run further analysis on. The live dashboards allows you to come back to analysis you've done previously, and see a near-realtime chart of your data. Other features that I've found to be quite helpful are the ability to apply prebuilt analysis on our data. We can analyze daily, weekly, monthly retention figures, see the drop off of users after completing each step of a user path, and identify how our content is driving user sign ups. I also appreciate the ability to share analysis with the rest of my team, making it simple to share information with my coworkers, and allow them to manipulate the data as well. Amplitudes ability to gather complex user data through the use of automatic fields as well as the ability to build our own custom fields means that we're able to slice data in very precise ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
At least on our current plan tier, we were unable to rectify mistakes in our data collection we made early on. You aren't able to apply changes to users retroactively. So if you want to change a number of user_roles from "softdev" to "software_developer", the previous events that the users made won't be updated. Obviously it was our mistake for not setting up our roles in the way that we're using them now, but it would be nice if the product was a little more forgiving.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving retention and growth problems with Amplitude. As a startup, we're trying to create product market fit, and so amplitude allows us to see how the iterations to our product affect user retention and session length.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking to take your product analytics to the next level, I've been very impressed with the offerings that Amplitude has.

Top platform for all sort of analytics

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility and customisations of the reports are very good. You can look through a specific metric from different angles on a single screen in a moment. Custom formulas allow you to get even more insights on behavioural patterns without involving a developer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Revenue reports are not ver comprehensive as for me and don't allow to analyze the traffic/installs attribution in a native way (without integrating third-party tools)

Simple tool to use but complex enough to cover all user data preview

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy is it to create reports and that reports are nicely interactive. Also option to create custom events.

The best thing overal is probably ability to have all the data about users at one place, accessible by anyone in the team. Fact that users with no tech background are able to use it makes it more widely adopted in the organisation.
Some details such as slack view with real data make your days nicer when you see some metric going up even without visiting the dashbaord.
Option to build dashboard out of reports and easily update them is also a nice thing to have.
What do you dislike about the product?
Being able to use logical OR in the reports.
I am afraid that after startup program it gets expensive.
Fact that it takes time until changes are saved and it easy to close the window without having the report saved, so chance of loosing some effort.
Also dont like that each link has a lot of params to track where the report is coming from.
I think also menu could be restructured better.
Also retention cohorts are in a different view which is not so easy to interact with and switch across different pages.
Maybe for less data experienced people it would be useful to provide more hints or tips what data are worth of checking, some smart features which can predict value of data.

SaaS product user analytics to understand user behaviour.
Onboarding funnels, segmentation of users by traffic source.
Engagement of users.
Understanding user behaviour across different devices.
Measuring retention of users based on different initial actions to improve product towards product market fit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Using Segment integration makes it pretty easy to setup and no duplicated tracking is needed.
Still takes some effort to make it smooth for every day use but its worth it and it has good ROI.
