Amplitude - the tool that finally answers the time on site question for our SaaS product
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using the free tier of Amplitude for a very basic integration with collecting data for pageview events on our marketing site for the past year. About a month ago, we decided to start sending in our actual user data, to see what more insights we might gain over the other BI tools we were currently using.
The best 5 minute fix ever, was that with our customer session data going to amplitude, we finally have a complete picture for how many sessions users have per day, and how long those sessions last. This is something that none of the other BI tools we user can provide, and due to the nature of our app, we were unable to calculate ourselves.

The free version of Amplitude can get you pretty far. You can learn a lot about your users, and you have 10 million events per month you can record. We happen to be right at that 10 million limit, and in fact had to turn off a few of our more verbose events to keep us under the threshold. I would like to see a higher limit to the event count.
A few of the best tools are of course locked behind the paid version. We would really like to use these tools, but the cost to jump from the free tier, to the lowest paid tier, is more than 6x what we are paying for our existing BI tools. For us we cannot make the case that the value is there, without knowing that we would get a fair ROI.

All BI tools have their corner cases where you just cannot see what you are looking for. Sometimes it is the way reports are formatted, sometimes it is the way that you can query the data. Amplitude gives us another angle to get at some of the questions in a different way, that we were not getting from our other tools.
One feature that I find very useful is the ability to take multiple events that we already have, and create a custom event based on any of them.
For instance during signup, the user has a chance to make several different choices on how to set up their account. Sometimes we would like to see just one metric for if they chose any of a particular path. Instead of trying to query each path individually, we can take multiple events, and combine them into a new single event. Then we can look and see how many users did the overall event, as opposed to those who did not, and then break that event down further into its own sub events that we already had available.
I also like the ability to click on just about any point on any chart, and see the users who are in that data set, view their first 5 actions since their session start, and dive into each of them.
Something that amplitude does a little better than other tools I have used, is in mapping users across devices. Each device that the user is on gets its own device ID, and we noted that even when hot swapping devices (handing it off to another person to use) that Amplitude was able to correctly track when one user stopped using the device, and anther user signed in to use our app. We have not seen any cases where users were merged into the same account because of device sharing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are on the fence at all, you have nothing to lose by trying out the free version. There is a world of great data that you can get to this way. The paid part of the app feels like it would be a great addition, and they give you the ability to try that part out with their very detailed demo data set. But nothing really tells you if you are going to get that same level out of your own data.
For free though, give it a try.

Happy overall

Amazing software for analyzing Product Analytics (app/web focused)
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude makes it incredibly easy to evaluate product analytics for mobile apps and websites. It's one of my favorite tools to use to view what's going on with our product funnels and segment out based on tons of attributes (many provided with the SDK) and the ability to link our user attribute tables as well. I'd say it's got one of the easiest UIs to understand and start building complex analysis.
Amplitude has great customer support and service as well, I've had great resources when questions appeared about the product.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more integrations with A/B testing platforms. It's a little difficult to link A/B testing softwares into Amplitude beyond populating user attributes and segmenting out those users.
It's a product that works for product analytics (web/app) but it's not a replacement for core business measurement better fit to tools such as Looker or Tableau. This can make it hard to get budget since the tool isn't incredibly cheap (but still competitively priced).
Segment is pushed as the universal tool for streaming events, while it's an awesome addition I wish Amplitude had a solution for this as well.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
On the product side we use it for evaluating business funnels, core actions we want users to take, analyzing between A/B tests/user cohorts, and identifying areas of opportunity for us to leverage. Key benefits have been the ability for PMs to take the wheel and explore data quickly, prior to using Amplitude we were heads down in SQL or working with data teams to get analytics together. We have benefited by our exploration and have been able to identify areas for us to improve our product that would have likely been locked away in some backlog/competing priority tickets for our data science team to identify.
Terrific platform and customer care
What do you like best about the product?
I was extremely pleased with the customer care I received early days of converting our analytics to Amplitude, to help get me up to speed on the platform. Two members of the Amplitude team helped me, in great depth, to create my first charts, and from there I was able to get our teams dashboard up and running. It’s a very simple and powerful tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was hard to figure out the cold start. Once I found Amplitude community website, I was quickly helped by a couple great Amplitude employees
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Basic dashboard creation for our social app. The platform is exceptionally strong on funnel analysis
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check out community.amplitude.com and hit the chat rooms. Very responsive communities for your questions
Must have for all product companies
What do you like best about the product?
This is by far the best product analytics tool. The UI is simple, it caters to all the product related questions all the product managers need answers to.
We found this very useful, created cohorts and funnels according to our requirements, and it was smooth after that.

What do you dislike about the product?
Quick guides on the best practices would have been a cherry on the top.
Report wise use cases alongside the UI would have helped us manage our reports, but the continuous learning helped us overcome that barrier.

We are an early-stage startup, currently toiling hard to identify the product-market fit.
That is where Mixpanel helps us a lot. Since we are into creating and testing multiple iterations of the product, this helps in measuring if it is working, based on the baselines we have set for ourselves.
It helps us analyze the delta that each new feature deployment brings to the table. And thereby enables us to understand our users and hence the market.

Take Your Product Analytics to the Next Level
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude helps you understand in a realtime and from different perspectives how our products is performing, and how our users behave within the platform.
Also the fact that Amplitude Analytics has pre-defined charts as one of it's main feature, helps a lot with the product analytics for our growth and product teams.

What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that a dev team is needed to deploy and start using Amplitude Analytics. I understand why this is way, but it would be great to have some sort of "no code features to track new events or define some properties.
This would be great, because most dev teams are always busy and asking to constantly track new events o generate new properties, tends to slow down the whole process.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currently solving user retention, acquisition and constantly measuring user engagement. Thanks to Amplitude Analytics we know our acquisition funnel is working and how this new users are engaging with our platform.
Best user analytics software I've ever used
What do you like best about the product?
I really liked how quick and easy it was to integrate with my iOS applications. I use Amplitude for three of my applications and it took me less than an hour to set up for each of the apps. I definitely thought it would be very time consuming to set up but I was pleasantly surprised.
I also enjoy the user activity tab the most. It's super exciting to map out how my users are using the application step by step and I often go on Amplitude simply to see what my users are up to. It's really insightful to learning where the users can get confused or where the users tend to purchase premium, and it's helped me make graphs to pinpoint certain flows.

What do you dislike about the product?
I particularly dislike the lack of freedom for graphs. I sometimes want to map out really complicated flows / graphs but Amplitude is pretty limited in that regard. I notice the formula section allows you to customize but that is very confusing and I could not figure out how to use that to properly map out exactly how it would look. Maybe a help section for the formula or an easier way to do custom graphs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have realized a lot of problems with the UX of my mobile applications. I can easily see where users become confused and drop off the app early on. I was able to solve this by making it more intuitive and quickly see that users don't drop off at that same step.
I also can see whether users know all of the functionalities of the app, or if it is something that I need to make known to them. I've learned that users didn't know about a swiping functionality, so I added it as part of the walkthrough to make the conversion much higher.

A complete analytics Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is a really simple tool to use, but also has powerful features for deep analytics tasks, even in the free plan. I find useful the retention and engadgent reports. As a analytics Tools I prefered Amplitude over Google Anlaytics, because you have a better tracking of events, user behavior and transactions, the only thing GA does better it is channel atribution. I think Amplitude it is similar to other event based tools. But the free Tier with 10M of events is really awesome for small companies or Startups.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to have different types of formats when creating formulas in segment event analysis. Also sometimes I would love to have different types o graphs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Funnel conversion analysis, right now we know the same-day conversion. And with cohorts we have a deep insight in vintage adquisition.
Amplitude helps us visualize the metrics that are most important
What do you like best about the product?
The charts features are refined, intuitive and highly flexible with custom formulas
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to find specific users even with id's synced with our database
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use amplitude to track growth and engagement
