Best tool to use to capture detailed analytics - much better than google analytics

  • November 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Amplitude is that most of its features are available in the free version, unlike other tools which is very helpful for small businesses.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lacks few features like page view tracking which is available in Google Analytics
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to understand customer behavior through Amplitude Analytics. It has helped us identify the user pain points and also understand the success of a new feature we ship.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking to move beyond google analytics, amplitude analytics is the tool for you. Unlike Google Analytics which is majorly used for page view and session tracking, amplitude gives you a more detailed insight of user behavior by allowing you to track each and every action of the user.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to learn. Great documentation. Unparalleled out of the box charting capabilities. Has exactly the charts one needs to do proper product analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboard view doesn't support much customization other than placement of charts. Would like to leave notes/insights/comments for my stakeholders.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Amplitude to get an idea of general feature usage and user retention/engagement/activation. I've never seen a tool that lets you manipulate cohorts so easily. Also, retention analysis super important, but Amplitude is the only tool I've found that actually makes it easy.

Allows you to expose the right kinds of analytics quickly and easily

  • November 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude lets you view the important things about your users, not just vanity analytics. It is flexible enough to let you create meaningful reports with analytics that are custom to your business, yet simple enough for anyone to use right out of the box without complex analysis skills. There are many ways to quickly and easily drill down into the data and save the views for later.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude Analytics is a little difficult to get setup. I found it a little complicated to get the right user id setup in the system, as there are a lot of choices in the documentation and there are a lot of nuances. I also wish it was easier to bulk upload old data, as I'm always finding myself in a situation where I wish I had more historical data about a particular event, and I have to wait for weeks for good history to populate.
One thing that could make it even easier to use would be to help train users more on what the different data views mean. There are many options, but to a new or untrained user, it can be overwhelming and can lead to incorrect findings if the data is read wrong. Training on what Uniques versus Event Totals mean, and can mean for your data, for example, would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making small changes to our website and quickly validating how the change has affected user behavior. I can quickly add in A/B testing as well and track how a change has impacted Active Users and their events. I have also been able to easily set up shareable dashboards to share key KPIs with external shareholders.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use this instead of Google Analytics if you care even a little bit about your website analytitcs.

What do you like best about the product?
Crazy speed of queries. You can get great insight just in a couple of seconds.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is a little bit high for start ups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Insights on users' journeys and when customers are hard activated.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Remember that analytics based on page view is wasting time.

The best product analytics

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very flexible query builders on top of simple event tracking structure allows fast and powerful analytics integration in any product, even web. Some companies afraid to start using Amplitude instead of Google Analytics but it's totally ok to use both to cross validate data. Amplitude has a free plan and startup scholarship program.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there will be better control over dashboard design layout and stylistic.
It would be nice to have some solution for web AB testing integration out of the box like Google Optimize and not Opimizly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Retention measurement. Conversion measurement. Custom analytics queries based on events.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its better try the best product analytics and compare other products after.

Simple but powerful

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is the perfect central repository for our analytics data. It helps us better understand user behavior, optimize features for retention and conversion, and onboard new users more effectively by understanding their user journey.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features that are locked behind paid tiers would be helpful to have. For example, the user cohorts feature isn't directly available under the free plan, but we're able to create groups of users that help us accomplish a similar task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Amplitude to track cohorts, key feature usage, and retention. We have been able to more effectively reach out to users when there are problems, build new features that solve bottlenecks, and overall are able to more effectively build software.

Must have tool for new generation of data analysts

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple yet powerful UI, documentation, guides
What do you dislike about the product?
I've heard about new features, and I wasn't able to try them. I think it might convince me to buy a pro version, but people have to try it first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics that we can't track in tools like FullStory anymore because we are growing. That's why we use Amplitude and funnels to know our user's flow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Save your time and try Amplitude Analytics first.

    Internet

The best analytics tool for growth

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user event stream. It not only allows for behavior analysis, but it also proved to be a great tool for engineers in debugging problems at scale.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to not have to know the organization name in order to log in, but rather have them associated w/ your account.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use amplitude for everything, but as an engineer I can more easily debug hard to reproduce problems.

Hands down! Best Product Analytics tool on the planet!

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The sheer ease of analytics. I can make all the different types of cuts and it is very easy to analyze. I can even create custom events and mathematical operations. It is extremely agile and fast.
Looking at trendlines and tracking user journeys has been a cakewalk since we implemented Amplitude.
It is also very easy to use and intuitive for all my colleagues to create their own experiments and funnels.
What do you dislike about the product?
No universal filters on dashboards. Should have minimum filters on Dashboard itself.

countless accidental clicks happen on the dashboard. Chart clickability should be restricted on Dashboards

Universal date change should be a feature that should help with changing dates across all segments at once. This would help save a lot of time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking everyday product funnels.
Solving different problem statements.
Tracking product KPIs.
Tracking release stability.
Checking trend lines of new and old features. Help compare the performance of a feature in different versions.
Quickly identifying issues with a release through Amplitude has helped us immensely.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please go ahead. Make sure you have built your app with proper event details. Amplitude will take care of the rest

A fantastic analytical tool for product teams

  • November 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is a fantastic analytical tool for product teams, being flexible enough to perform with casual and power users. It has a nice learning curve, with some basic functions easily accessible for beginners and also some more in-depth features for more advanced user. It's really easy to do some exploration and collaborative analysis due to the individual (permalink) url, so if you find something interesting you can just save the url (and even share with others), without needing to save or worry about remembering the parameters.

As a Product Designer, amplitude is very handy for follow up routines on features (mainly after the deploys) and is a white canvas for quantitative discovery (research), while bringing insightful data from your user data base (devices, time session and so on).

For feature teams, there is a chrome extension for you to check the events on your product and make sure that the events are properly set and it is quite handy for debugging any front-end bug mysteries.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that you can't use events that had 0 interaction on charts. It would be super to have this, as it would able us to create dashboard while still on development/testing (staging) before the feature goes live.
The are some minor UX/UI issues, that could be avoided with labelling, such as the "freestyle" when searching for a parameter always results in a blank search. And the chrome extension (for checking the events) is super helpful but can be a little buggy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude helped us do a proper follow up on features released and understand/quatify their impact on our business. Is is a great tool for initial discoveries and minor researchers where a qualitative approach isn't suitable. And amplitude has proven itself as a nice validation tool for our priorization routines, by working as easy to use data repository, it is really handy for checking and validating ideas on the fly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Amplitude is an amazing tool for product teams everywhere, it can truly boost the usage of analytics in your teams daily routine . And, with a free subscription it is a no brainer to try it out for yourself.
