At least try out the free version

What do you like best about the product?
Great tool to create user funnel charts for A/B tests or other user segments. Can be a simple free tool or an extremely powerful paid tool with things like Cluster Analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
More visualization options would be nice, chart viz's are inflexible outside of like naming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick and easy way to have business users pull together reports to monitor conversion funnels, either overall or split by user segments. It's the main tool the frontend team uses for A/B tests, and we've created dashboard to keep an eye on a number of funnels steps and segments to make sure nothing changes unexpectedly.

The Ultimate Companion (even, Replacement!) to Google Analytics

What do you like best about the product?
Funnel reporting is so easy to view in Amplitude. Setting up conversion reports, isolating users, and sharing said reports in an attractive png (or PDF if your heart desires) has never been easier. For a SaaS company with a rigid ICP, conversions are much more tangible and flexible in an Amplitude report than a GA view.

Amplitude provides the highest level of customization possible to your web analytics and reporting. Given that our company works with a third party analytics agency to push from Segment to Amplitude, we're working with the highest grade of data available to our team. Fortunately for us, this means that a wealth of knowledge is easily accessible based on the taxonomy documents provided by our agency so that I can pull reports seamlessly for anyone else in the company who needs to know about our web performance.

Users who do not have a dedicated analytics team to back up Amplitude--your mileage may vary.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve for the platform is fairly steep, but once a user understands the nuances then it becomes far more robust.

Further, there are some features that compliment Google Analytics rather than seek to supersede it. In some cases, I have to go back and forth between Amplitude and GA or a Data Studio pulling from GA/Segment data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
What used to take hours to build reports in GA/Data Studio now takes minutes, if not seconds. There are rare occasions where I will go to GA to look for a highly specific report, otherwise, Amplitude has been my main analytics tool for months now.

I am able to understand the vast data lake that our website is capturing through Amplitude. Being able to comprehend every piece of data in Google Analytics alone is a difficult task. There are some data sets like conversion rate and goals in GA that make it inalienable to my work. Amplitude supports this by confirming the how, the why, and the journey across page paths, and miraculously, the who. Without using Clearbit or any reverse IP lookup, merely the user data that we already have, we can continue to track user engagement and more easily confirm the results of our A/B testing across the entire website.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Segment and Amplitude are a powerful pair. I don't think I'd be able to go back to archaic reports.

Critical tool for product and business insights

  • August 18, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to set up and use - no need to manually define data schema upfront, just have your app send the right events and properties. Dashboards and charts are straightforward and powerful - haven't run into a view that I haven't been able to construct using the preset options. Its focus on events as opposed to monthly tracked users like other competitors makes a lot of sense as we scale, and ensures different kinds of apps and businesses are treated fairly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Decent documentation, but for certain aspects of their API the docs are more dated and could use some cleanup. It would have been great to see more best practices for different use cases as well - e.g. data/event schema by industry, or templates for dashboards that make sense. Some of the biggest mistakes we've made while using the product had to do with poor planning on our end, e.g. setting a user property after events we were hoping to track, and some more onboarding or best practice content would have helped us avoid these errors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Amplitude for product and business analytics for our app - from acquisition, retention, product feature usage, A/B testing, and more. Very helpful to see at a glance key metrics and results with the dashboards we've set up. It has significantly improved our ability to observe population and test-level changes, even when using separate testing platforms like Firebase.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's easy to get started, try making a few dashboards with some basic events to see how the tool works for you, and you'll quickly see how flexible and powerful it can be.

Amplitude has become a staple in every project I can use it now

  • August 18, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility to measure literally anything, and how the platform simply extracts and organizes a lot of information by itself. Also, everything is fast and the UX is intuitive. I never need to look for more than 1 or 2 minutes to find out exactly what I was looking for. The docs are also top notch.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is mysterious, hard to disclose, and their support can sometimes be very simplistic: I've already tried their simple suggestions sometimes, and it can be a little frustrating, because then I'll have to explain myself better and wait another day. The lack of a real-time chat really shows.

However, it has changed in the past few months, and since the last 2 months we've been paying it. It's amazing how it improves after being paid
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Amplitude Analytics to validade a lot of A/B tests, and look at a bunch of conversion funnels. The lack of ability to use the cohort option in the free version is a pain point, but it's still very good and generous with the free tier
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just go for it. Their free tier is more than enough for most companies (ours is 50-100 employees, with a few million MAUs and we are still in free tier), and is way better than most of their competitors.

Very good. Fast and reliable.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to create new plots, very quick to get results.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you want to do more complicated things sometimes it's impossible, like defining an event as which is a funnel conversion of other events.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Both marketing analysis and product usage questions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's very easy to use and fast, and usually has everything you need if you define your events well. It is pricey though.
If they go more towards the direction of automate ML it will be a no brainer

Best in class solution and great for new startups

  • August 18, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes complex things simple. Easy to use and to share with teams, you can have your stuff private or shared with your team. They offer several excellent books with practical and theoretical stuff to apply to your company (for free).
The best for us is that they offer a scholarship program for startups for 1 year. It can also be connected with other services like Segment, Google Ads and Facebook for targeting different cohorts on those tools. The people that connect with you and your team are great also.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price may be expensive for B2C startups that are not making any money after the first year, the scholarship program is available for 1 year only but it's completely understandable. There are some things that I'm missing from Google Analytics like Venn diagrams but maybe it's just me not knowing how to use the tool properly. Support language is English only and that may be an issue for Spanish speakers like our team from Latin America.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Amplitude to improve our main KPIs like the retention rate and engagement of different user cohorts to improve and guide our development team and make a better onboarding, reduce the early churn and keep our users happy. It helps us make a relationship chart between events and metrics like retention to quickly find which events were critical for increasing or decreasing our main KPIs, we couldn't do it easily with our other Analytics platforms we are currently using like Facebook Analytics or Firebase Analytics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend it to everyone I meet mainly because of the opportunities it gives to your apps after using their product.

Great tool to learn about our users

  • August 18, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to test hypotheses about our users and features and also glean insights I wouldn’t have guessed otherwise
What do you dislike about the product?
The table at the bottom of retention analytics changes a bit every time I check on it so I’m not sure which numbers are actually accurate
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Where users are dropping off and the user paths they typically take; this has allowed us to work on improving the steps where users typically drop off in the funnel
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Provide more chart types
