Powerful platform with consumer app like user experience

  • February 28, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Workato supports a variety of use cases including bulk data, app integration, automation workflows, API gateways, and chat based enterprise bots. Also, the focus on ease of use means less technical resources can use the platform.

On top of the 200 applications Workato supports, Workato provides two SDKs, a Java based SDK for on-prem connector development, and a Ruby based one for cloud connectors. Workato also supports connectivity to a variety of databases, files, messaging systems and REST endpoints.

Workato has spent a lot of time developing operational capabilities to make it easier to detect and recover from failures. The Workato recipes ops connector facilitates automation of a variety of runtime operations e.g. auto rerun when a job fails with a specific exception.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing specific. It's great to see the product evolve rapidly, especially with regard to on-prem capabilities. Their customer success teams are great to work with
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I would recommend Workato as a essential component for digital transformations. They are typically large enterprises looking to address data integration, workflow automation involving central IT and LOBs. Workato lends itself well to starting small, and growing rapidly from there.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a product that is better experienced. Would recommend to focus on building real world use cases as part of the evaluation process,

    Computer Software

Easy, extensible integration

  • February 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Worked well for the simple use cases. After trying for few months realized that I can use the service for advanced use cases too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Took a while to figure out how to use HTTP connector. Documentation is sparse.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DevOps workflow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with A to B sync use cases. I found additional uses after the initial success. Now I am considering the product for approval workflows and on-prem data sync use cases.

Proof of Concept with real life use cases

  • February 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Workato built out our use cases ready for immediate conversion to production (90% ready for PRD deployment - missing 10% for support processes) as part of the Proof of Concept.
What do you dislike about the product?
None so far. They have been very cooperative.
If Workato can improve its portal for external API Developer's self service portal and API usage monitoring clients would not have use Workato in conjunction with an API Gateway product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of integration coupled with BPM workflow for exception processing.
Benefits to realize:
1) Integration with Json messages instead of converting Json to XML to perform transformation with existing middleware
2) API orchestration to perform several API calls and trigger workflow when exceptions occurs
3) Pair messages before processing orders.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Integration with exception handling can only be accomplished with BPM workflow. Our Integration hub with Workato is only stronger because of workflow exception processing.

A true powerhouse tool to complement our Marketo environment

  • February 16, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can use Workato to retrieve data from, and write back to , objects that are not available through the native Marketo-Salesforce sync. This eliminates the need to stage data on the Contact record to make it consumable by Marketo, and reduces reliance on IT support. Also the tool is very handy for some data normalization activities, and handling API connections to other software tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm a big fan, so there isn't much to complain about. My one minor issue is that I wish it were easier to share recipes within an organization without needing to upgrade to an Enterprise account. Otherwise, the tool is a no-brainer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As above, complements our Marketo/Salesforce sync and reduces reliance on IT.

Easy to use and powerful

  • February 15, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact it can talk to Salesforce without having to buy the extra expensive Salesforce API. This was a huge benefit, because adding the API to a Salesforce license can provide extremely costly if you have a LOT of users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation isn't the best. This made it difficult to work out some issues I had with recipes myself. Support were a little bit slow at replying, but we got there in the end.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Synchronising systems, to keep them all up to date without manual intervention.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time setting up a recipe. It can be a bit tricky to get working at first. Support are very helpful, so reach out if need be.

Great for organizations!

  • February 14, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility of the platform - without necessarily being a developer. I'm a pretty serious data person - but not a developer or coder. This system provides me with a way to connect disparate systems, make transformations and automate processes that otherwise would be ugly and/or manual.
What do you dislike about the product?
The costs. Your pricing model changed - and it makes sense for larger organizations with big infrastructure headaches, but for my large number of small nonprofits - who have small #s of staff and need the workflow automation - it is getting to be (if not already) prohibitive in cost. Yes, even with your nonprofit discount.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connecting multiple systems to automate workflow and data transfer to (and in some cases from) Salesforce NPSP to make it easier for 501c3's to accomplish their work and still have a central source (one source) of the truth for their donors, volunteers, advocates, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time - figure out your logic and go through the training before sitting down to actually do the recipe.

Good integration with Salesforce

  • February 14, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We liked that we had control over how we wanted to integrate Eventbrite and Salesforce. We could customize it to our liking without being forced into a prearranged configuration.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though it does have a lot of customization, there are some little features that are missing. For instance, you can't choose to update just ANY field in Salesforce, there are pre-picked ones that you must choose from.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to have our Eventbrite events replicate to Salesforce as Campaign's. Workato does this perfectly and as a result we have saved time and money while also gaining insight into what types of people attend our events and how they relate to our organization.

Steep learning curve but customer success team and free expert hours make it happen.

  • February 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The customer success team is very quick to respond and willing to walk you through anything via chat. If chat is not enough then they invite you on to the daily 1-hour screen share session known as the expert hour. Screens are shared and they walk you through setting up or troubleshooting the needed recipes or they can drive for you while explaining the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a good idea to rely on the templates too much. Every business is different and most of the templates are specific to those businesses. We have found that it is generally better to start from scratch so not that much is saved as anticipated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Less data entry. Systems across all areas of the business communicating with each other.
