Grow and Adapt Quickly and Easily

  • August 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy all of our entities sharing the same chart of accounts. This allows us the ability to onboard new acquisitions and produce reporting that is comparatively meaningful from day one. The third party plugins are a great way to add features to the overall package. I do wish more (or some) were included in the core product. Perhaps I am wrong but I am not sure if there are any packages that include some of the additional modules at a bundled price. That being said, the core product is great and is intuitive enough for someone with some but not prodigious technical skills to configure and customize to the needs of your organization.

You can also build it out quickly and easily to support new locations and/or entities as your company grows. By using the same chart of accounts, the set up is easy for new entities and you can start with entry and financial statements from day one that are comparative across companies. We are able to manage multiple companies in similar industries within different markets very easily but also have the reporting to compare them in a way that allows us to gain meaningful insight into why certain locations are performing better than others.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest dislike is the amount of modules that are not included in the base subscription. I could be wrong but I do not believe there is a tiered subscription model (think good, better, best) that includes more advanced modules in a subscription if you are wiling to spend the money. I am constantly doing evaluations with my account rep and an implementation specialist for a product that I then have to evaluate ROI on. I love our account rep, she is fantastic. It does feel like her job is more sales oriented than support. It sometimes feels like our monthly check ins are more designed to be a sales call which I understand but its also a little frustrating. There are not many things to dislike about Intacct. It is an investment but also one that can help you dramatically improve all cycles in your accounting department. The ability to upload and attach invoices and other documents to entries can completely digitize your AP/AR cycles which is a huge time and space saver. The audit trail becomes much clearer and easier to follow when you can go from a view of the bill entry, to the invoice and find the check # and status of the check in a few clicks. The only drawback is that it is a bit labor intensive to do that. We have augmented that process by utilizing Bill.com but it did come at an additional cost of about $30,000 annually to implement. We are very happy with the integration but wish that were able to do more with the core product in Intacct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the stock allocations to make sure that we apportion company expenses properly. We are able to produce 51 unique P&L statements and and group them by common ownership when needed to give partners easy access to progress reports. We use Bill.com as a way to automate our AP cycle and it has dramatically improved our workflow. We can process thousands of invoices every month with one clerk and able to pay everyone in a timely fashion. It allows for a great workflow and approval process. The third party apps and integrations are a great benefit. We are currently evaluating the budgeting module as a way to easily use our actual prior year performance as a way to create a realistic and fact based budget for the coming year. The automated processes we have with Bill.com and hopefully the budgeting module (we are currently evaluating) have and hopefully will represent unmatched efficiency in the AP and budgeting cycles. We are a growing organization and add new entities on a bi-annual basis for the most part. The entity set up process is simple and being able to have a suite of reporting available based on work we've done with our prior entities is a huge time saver and value.

The implementation has been painless

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability of the implementation staff to take our manual processes and convert them to electronic formats that are exactly what we use in our business.
What do you dislike about the product?
The amount of time it took to manually complete the templates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are taking a system that is 25 years old and improving efficiency and reducing the bottleneck in the accounting process while having audit trails for each process.

    Computer Software

Great for Data, Not the best reporting.

  • July 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how it's easy to use, and easy to pull data. I am familiar with it
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting isn't great or easy to use. It seems to have potential however, without the execution or guides this has become a lost tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to provide financials however, lots of the metrics done have to be done outside of intacct.

Simple, intuitive software

  • July 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is simple and intuitive. Most of the flow of the processes and menu options makes sense so it is easy and intuitive which makes training easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the credit card payment process and process to "charge payroffs". I also do not like the fixed asset module. It is obviously a third party software that Sage bought and bolted on but has not given it the same look and feel as the rest of the product. I also do not care for the pricing practices. I understand this is unique to our company, but we had to buy the Project module for a third party integration. We are using less than 10% of the project module yet have to pay 100% of the expensive module.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want to automate as many manual, FTE intensive, processes as possible and have been able to do that, but mostly through third party software partners of Intacct.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think overall it is a great, easy software package. Like I mentioned, Fixed Assets module needs improvement to match the look and feel of the rest of the offering, but overall it is great.

Client Satisfaction

  • July 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
User friendly, great that I can go in and "duplicate" a transaction and just change what is different instead of keying in all info each time. Wish we could track our "Projects" a little differently. Would love to be able to look at all activity rather than just one year at a time without having to create a bunch of time periods.
What do you dislike about the product?
Repeatedly, when we need help with something the response time is terrible. I put in a "ticket" for a problem on June 23 and got a response back asking for additional info. I responded on the 26th and hadn't heard anything back so emailed to find out what was going on June 30th. Got a response back on the 9th that we may need to talk over the phone. I responded the next day with my time zone and that I was available all day. Didn't hear anything back. There is finally a message dated 7/22 in the community, but it was not sent to my email so I am just seeing it now because I went in to get the correspondence trail to send this message. I was getting ready to call Andre, my account rep to see if he could help. It seems this run around happens when we have questions so we are frustrated with that aspect of the company - technical support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
See above

Sage Intacct Review

  • July 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to allocate expenses between service lines and accounts so that we can generate our internal reporting without the need for extensive excel files. It has also been beneficial to be able to run Cash and Accrual books concurrently to cover our various internal and external reporting requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search functionality requires you to match the beginning of the item you are searching for rather than any keyword match, which can sometimes make searching for vendors/clients/account codes more difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have transitioned away from excel as our primary reporting tool and are now using primarily Intacct with excel as a supplement. This has allowed us to avoid potential user errors and be more confident that the data is correct.

Using this software has made our accounting practices much easier.

  • July 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That staff are able to enter reimbursement requests, time sheets and invoices. The software can interface with other products that we use like Salesforce and Bill.com
What do you dislike about the product?
When upgrades are made it is like I have to learn everything from scratch. Sometimes it is difficult to manipulate a report to include the information that is needed for grant reporting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Staff time tracking to make it easier to track restricted grant fund releases. Time is saved by staff entering their reimbursements directly and not requiring account staff to manually enter reimbursements from paper forms.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It will help with improving internal accounting systems and processes.

    Medical Practice

Multi-entity environment

  • July 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I'm able view, post, adjust, and manage multiple locations from our headquarters.
What do you dislike about the product?
A good understanding of the transaction flow is vital because the system can be restrictive in some aspects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to see and troubleshoot, as necessary, multiple locations.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Effective with some caveats

  • July 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Reporting flexibility and level of detail are great. The dashboards can be highly customized and therefore are informative. Customer and account support are very good.
What do you dislike about the product?
The system has massive functionality but this also can lead to some confusion and efficiency issues for simple items or small accounting teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a non-profit we need to track funds and restrictions very closely. Intacct has allowed us to do that. Additionally, the integrations that we have been able to include have added to our process efficiency.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure that you press you implementer on all the capability and to define the processes that you should/would use in your day to day, this will shorten the learning curve.
