Jamf has mad managing Macs Easy

  • October 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to not only manage MDM settings with Jamf, but to also utilize an agent to control "legacy" aspects of the Operating System is great. Patch Management has made it extremely easy to keep software up to date!
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing Smart Groups could be easier. The ability to build a smart group from a policy would make the workflow of creating and deploying a policy much more more streamlined.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security patching of Macs, encryption and security policy compliance, ease of management

What do you like best about the product?
Favorite feature for jamf is the advanced search, allows me to sub catagorize as much as needed and find info that would take forever to do by hand.
What do you dislike about the product?
jamf admin won't let more than 1 person do work at teh same time as we overwrite what the others did once we save.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we are using jamf to manage several labs consisting of many computers on campus. This has made our jub much easier since we no longer need to run around and do all the work by hand, we can push the packages and policies and config profiles en mass.

The best thing since sliced bread

What do you like best about the product?
The GUI is terrific. I am in and out of SCCM all day and going to Jamf to work on my Apple environment is an absolute pleasure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting is abysmal. I want to be able to provide extremely granular reports for upper management and I have to manually retrieve the data myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company is experiencing growth in the macos arena and we have utilized Jamf to manage and secure the devices we've deployed. Jamf has allowed us to provide a single platform similar to SCCM instead of trying to juggle multiple open-source solutions like others had to do in the past.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've run Jamf servers on both Mac and Windows backends. It used to be rough to run on Windows but I think it's way better now and it doesn't matter which way you go. If anyone is still using ARD, wise up and spend the coin to get a better solution. You'll save your sanity and be a hero to your management AND userbase.
