Jamf Pro has been a great way to manage our fleet of Mac & iOS devices

  • August 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro has a powerful feature set that we've been able to use to fully manage our Mac & iOS devices. It's easy to use, intuitive, and well designed. Their onboarding and support process was great and I really appreciate their commitment to helping us deploy the MDM in our environment. They also offer day-one support for Apple's operating systems, which is fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be a steep learning curve to learning to use Jamf, but that would be the case with any MDM. There are also a few features I'd like to see them add, but that may be more of a limitation with the frameworks they have available to then than anything else.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying Macs and iOS devices in our environment has gone from an incredibly tedious and detail-intensive task to one that's much simpler and quicker. Once a device is enrolled in the MDM and configured via Jamf Pro, it quickly grabs all the policies and apps that we've provisioned for it. Remote management has gotten much easier as well, as we can now simply deploy apps and settings to our devices remotely without needing to be physically present at the machine.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you use macOS and iOS devices in your environment, Jamf Pro will be a great fit for you.

JAMF Pro Review

  • August 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The community around JAMF specifically JAMF Nation is incredibly helpful and what sets JAMF pro apart from other MDM solutions for Mac.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jamf does not have a remote tool that can be used across networks. JAMF remote only works when on the same network as the target machine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company is using JAMF to quickly provision computers and deploy applications. There are many opportunities to automate simple tasks with JAMF

4 years of using Jamf and still feel like a newbie

What do you like best about the product?
We have been able to do the basics since day one and it has provided more information on our devices than we collected in the past.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like to mark devices as out of commission (to access historical data) without having to remove it from Jamf entirely.
Love self-service, but we're a small group in our Tech department and can't always keep up with updates. And no fault of Jamf, but Adobe products used to be a great offering and now it is simpler to just have people manage their own products through Creative Cloud.
Sometimes we've had issues when using Jamf to reprovision devices. End up in a loop that won't let us get past the mdm screen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to push out printers and software - and for tracking our Apple devices (mostly Macbooks, some iPads). We have loaner laptops that students will keep well beyond the return period and I love that we can easily lock down the computers and force them to check in with us. Using pre-stage enrollment has made life a breeze for all our new devices.

Jamf has been overall a great experience

  • August 20, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the user interface has been mostly pleasant.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how some info in Jamf is fairly limited. For example, search criteria for certificates. Its pretty much useless. When I view the certificate inventory that is on a computer theres a decent amount of info, but the criteria doesn't take advantage of this. Also integrating with some bigger brands like Okta, there isn't really any documentation for setting this up. More specifically setting up Okta to be used as an enrollment authentication method.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to mostly manage our Mac environment with Jamf Pro. Theres been some things that needed to be created outside of Jamf's functionality. The main benefits are the capability to manage our Macs and have them be in compliance within our standards

What do you like best about the product?
Power of Jamf Binary and the flexibility it gives you.
What do you dislike about the product?
Default MDM mobileconfig options are messy. They contain more settings than they should.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security management, parching, and user capabilities with Self Service
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very powerful tool that takes time and training to fully leverage.

We've had Jamf for a 8-10 years. Overall, the experience has been good.

What do you like best about the product?
The early days of support were phenominal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Feature Request non-implementation - especially FRs that have been in the list for years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage our entire Mac Fleet with jamfPro. No other MDM provider has all the features that jamf does.

MDMnM's

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It takes a while to get used to the interplay of all the parts, but once it's orchestrated the pieces all serve to streamline workflows for several of our units and, most importantly, enhance our user experience - all while keeping security happy! Like a delicious bag of chocolates...
What do you dislike about the product?
That complexity with how everything works together can get in your head sometimes, which can be distracting. It can also make documentation and KT a little more complex. Still better than any other Mac MDM!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working to get zero-touch deployments while implementing the CIS guidance for security and enabling our users with the software they need without manual intervention. Our fleet is too large to touch every one, Jamf solves that problem.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure A(S/B)M is set up and working for ADE!

Jamf is the go-to Device Management platform for macOS

  • August 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf has a very comprehensive set of management capabilities for macOS devices- the ease of package/script deployment makes it a breeze to simplify management tasks and deploy all of the apps we use, and the self-service portal allows our users to quickly and easily add printers and applications to their Macs.
The Jamf community is also very active, which makes it easy to find scripts and other resources to use in your Jamf instance.
What do you dislike about the product?
The two biggest areas that Jamf could improve on are:
Configuration profile editing- the current editor includes a lot of extra payload keys that may change/lock out settings I don't want to manage, requiring me to create and sign my profiles separately
Support for improved cloud provisioning- Support for SCIM would be very useful for those of us who don't have any LDAP, such as Azure AD users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to streamline our new user onboarding processes using Jamf, automating more application installs and leveraging the Device Enrollment Program support, instead of the previously manual steps we used to do to build out systems

Exceptionally easy to use, full of features, and has an active community.

  • August 20, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, especially coming from a SCCM background
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of basic inventory of non-Apple devices
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Full management, inventory, patching, packaging, deployments, reporting, etc of macOS devices. We get more information from this service than we ever did with AD integration or SCCM/MEM/CM without Jamf.

JAMF has helped us take control of our Mac fleet, allowing for a smooth transition to WFH

  • August 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create custom groups and deploy specific profiles and programs automatically has made the new WFH standard much easier. With the ability to remotely enable VNC we were also able to minimize time in office preparing for the new work standard. Deploying our VPN and configuration settings via JAMF policy made the entire process easy and straight forward for end users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup and creation of packages and scripts to accomplish goals can be a bit daunting. Previous linux scripting experience is a huge help, and almost a must to accomplish some of the major feature in JAMF when it comes to reporting and altering settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before JAMF we were imaging Macs off USB sticks, that would be impossible with the newer T2 machines, we have also saved countless time implementing commonly used processes and features in the JAMF self-service portal. The ability to create smart and static groups has also made inventory and monitoring much easier and much quicker to gain insight on.
