Streamline Apple Management in K-12 EDU!
What do you like best about the product?
With the proper setup, very little needs to be done to maintain your fleet. I love all the smart group variables that ensure all of my devices get the proper policies and programs automatically without IT intervention. Policy scoping works great with the quick, recurring frequency at which computers check-in. This makes sure you're fleet is up to date in a timely fashion. Now, when our school district purchases Macbooks, we open the box to inventory tag the computer, but we give them to the user without ever turning them on. The great JAMF community & third-party add-ins make computer configuration a breeze for employees. The ability to leverage almost any type of policy / script / installer in the self service application greatly reduces help desk tickets and allows our users to empower themselves. Last but not least the customizable dashboard gives me a very quick and updated view at the success rate of deployed policies and profiles.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of initial setup to go through to really tinker JAMF to your specific enviornment. THis can take some planning and trial and error, but once complete makes maintaining JAMF a breeze.
Many of my dislikes I believe are a result of issues with Apple and not JAMF. "Re-Imaging/Enrolling" LAB machines in school environments cannot be completely "zero-touch." Some features that apple touts (upgrade OS from MDM command, do not work) Lots of these things can be resolved with some research, the great community, and custom scripts.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlined "imaging" process. No longer do we need to build "fat" images, everything is easily changeable without redoing base images. The inventory reporting is great for implementing patch policies with smart groups, which allows seamless ways to keep our computers up to date. The vast majority of items that can be placed in the Self Service app greatly reduce our helpdesk tickets. From user specific applications, to custom settings, and even non destructive OS recoveries that users can do by themselves!
JAMF Makes Life Easy
What do you like best about the product?
I love that JAMF allows me to configure some settings, and then deploy them without having to worry about it again. Users are able to utilize their devices, and I don't have to constantly monitor them, fearing that something will break. JAMF is reliable and never failed me.
What do you dislike about the product?
JAMF is a little confusing for newcomers, but the numerous and unlimited amounts of support easily rectify that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JAMF has allowed me to easily deploy Macs to professors and staff in my university, set them up with necessary applications to teach class/do their jobs, and never have to worry about them again.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be afraid to make sure of the support that Jamf has available. There are many members within Jamf as well as within Jamf Nation that are there to assist you. Everyone in the Jamf community is very friendly and are always there to help and answer questions. The collaborative experience is amazing.
Best iOS and MacOS MDM
What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro is the most capable MDM solution available. It's honestly the only MDM worth paying for.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost can seem high, especially for smaller businesses and non-profits. There have also been many bugs in many of the releases, some of which prevented us from upgrading to the latest version. But typically those bugs are solves within a reasonable timeframe and don't end up impacting our end-users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jamf Pro has helped me to be proactive with fixing and preventing issues, increasing security, reducing turnaround time for problem-solving, and reduce overall tickets.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you can afford it, it is definitely the best solution available! Its also the only solution I would be willing to pay money for.
Excellent MDM Choice for Managing Apple Devices
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to manage various devices groups and policies in the web interface. Getting reports and the status of devices is also very handy. There is also a large support community that can help with problems and the answers to most questions is just a web search away.
What do you dislike about the product?
Over time the the workflows can get cluttered. Planning how things are organized in JAMF is crucial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Apple has made having a MDM (mobile device management) an essential part of being able to manage and support Apple devices at scale. JAMF allows us to effectively manage and control our Apple devices across the organization.
It makes managing 600 ipads easier.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to push apps and profiles to all or some ipads. This would be very time consuming if we had to touch each ipad.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the parts apple won't allow us to change or restrict
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest benefit is the time savings we realize. The biggest problem we have solved is complying with the CIPA.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Organization is important from the start.
It is a very essential tool to use to administer macs, software deployments and OS upgrades.
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to push out zero day updates to the computers in my environment. I also like writing scripts to be run with the updates to get the update just the way i like it. I just got Code 42 to work in our environment! I'm so excited!!
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is some of the platform isn't very intuitive. Like to look at inventory you have to click many times to get the results you want to look at and some of the tabs aren't where you would expect them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to deploy a white listed piece of software and then not realizing i need to upgrade their os in order for it to work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great addition to our administrative management of our mac computers.
Mac mgmt gods
What do you like best about the product?
The product is super intuitive. Processes are easy to create and deploy and same os to be said about creating smart and static groups.
What do you dislike about the product?
Each new release is a learning curve. Sometimes Global settings options are rearranged and it takes a minute to figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lab mgmt, software pushes and patching, fleet compliance
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it, theyre the best solution on the market.
Jamf has brought life into Macs in our Org
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to seamlessly push out apps! Having mdm commands and being able to push out commands/scripts from the cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Patch management could use some love! As well better set up process...having to schedule and wait for jump start was hard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Apps are being installed and updated regularly now.
Being able to manage the computers! No more free reign from our mac users
Being able to manage the computers! No more free reign from our mac users
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Trial it. And you will see the value of it.
Not sure what I would do without it.
What do you like best about the product?
It's pretty amazing what jamf does for our district. We have over 9,000 iOS devices, 800 MacOS devices and several TvOS devices and management is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial time it takes to learn the ins and outs of jamf. The training courses really help for that though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping over 9,000 iOS devices and 800 MacOS devices running smoothly with a team of two dedicated to Apple devices. We just enrolled 700 MacBooks over the past few months with just two of us which couldn't have been done without jamf.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's expensive, but well worth it. Don't know what I would do without it as a team of two managing almost 10,000 Apple devices.
Jamf Pro Review
What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro is probably the most recognisable name when it comes to Mac and iPad management. We're mainly iPad based and they always support newly released features from apple. Their 0 day support for new OS releases makes managing iPads very easy. The jamf nation forums and support is also great. The new Jamf Parent app is great as it allows our parents to have some control. Something they've been asking for for quite a few years.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing I dislike is not being able to see where a smart group is used or what it is linked to. You have to remember where it is used or go through all your settings. It would be nice to have a reference of each thing that uses that smart group. Fortinet firewall does this very well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have 2:1 and 1:1 iPads across the foundation and Jamf makes it very easy to deploy iPads, apps and settings. Would be impossible to do this manually.
