Jamf Pro, Local, Apple, Zero Day Releases, Support, it's all there

  • September 20, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
They don't outsource support, it is done in house. Response times when dealing with support have been excellent. This is one of my biggest issues with other vendors. The product is only as good as the service backing it. Jamf is all over it, and they are ready when new iOS features are released by Apple out of the gate, I love this. Cloud hosting is the way to go for us. No on site maintenance required, Jamf techs take care of upkeep, updates and issues without us having to do anything.
What do you dislike about the product?
The GUI could use some improvement. It's certainly not bad just could be improved looks a little dated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DEP devices enrolled directly into Jamf for zero touch IT configuration. The remote control you have over your devices especially is supervised mode is fantastic. No dealing with itunes accounts to download apps, VPP for our business is the way to go. It just works.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While they are an Apple only company at the moment, it would be nice to see support for other platforms. That said since all resources go into Apple they know there stuff on Apple products and I love zero day releases are tested so come launch day it's ready to rock.

JAMF Pro - Apple Enterprise Management Standard

  • September 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The JAMF support and community is the best. Immediate assistant that is on point.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional issues with upgrade bugs that can effect performance. AD integration related to certificates has remained a black whole, but could be an Apple issue
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
AD integration related to certificates and 802.1x is are biggest problem. Second is patching of the OS and 3rd party applications.

Inventory access and software installation.

JAMF Pro

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use is the most appealing regarding JAMF Pro. I have had the opportunity to test a few MDM Platforms before sinking my teeth into JAMF Pro and it's truly the best in an, otherwise, specific market.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some unexplainable bugs and quirks in-platform that have not been able to be addressed by support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mobile device management and device uniformity. Total time spent touching a device has been drastically reduced.

I love the patching and it's tie in with Microsoft. Makes managing all devices easier.

What do you like best about the product?
Management of Apple products, ability to remote into machines throughout the country, patch management, ease of use and the general ease to teach people how to leverage jamf pro.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using Apple products. Only being able to run JAMF Pro on an OS machine and not having the ability to run it from a Windows machine too makes things difficult. It would be nice if there was a happy medium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
asset management, printer deployments, security updates, application updates, application installations, remote controls and patch management.

Jamf Pro is AMAZING!

What do you like best about the product?
SELF SERVICE app is the best thing since moving to Macintosh OS in our school! This allows our IT department more time to work on more pressing matters since our teachers/staff/students can go get the apps they need asap using Self Service.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to say anything bad about Jamf. Their support specialists are the best! They are always there to support us. The only thing I would say needs to be better is the price of the classes they offer. It is very expensive, but I feel is the best way to understand how to use the product to the fullest.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mobile Device Management! I can manage 600+ devices seamlessly using Jamf Pro. There are so many benefits including Self Service and DEP (Device Enrollment Program) PreStage Enrollment. The DEP PreStage Enrollment allows use to distribute computers without imaging. Zero touch enrollment! It is amazing!!! This saves so much time and energy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go to the classes offered by Jamf Pro. Helps understand how to use the product.

CCA administering two JAMF Pro instances for two large school districts.

  • March 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use for administering iOS is second to none combined with the high level of control you get with Mac OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Mac OS administration gives you so much control that we sometimes get in our own way. We find a new/better way to manage something in Mac OS only to complicate our system as a whole and potentially negatively impact a previous configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been constantly tweaking our 1 to 1 iOS environment since day 0, three years ago. JAMF Pro makes it easy to integrate more restrictive controls with our SIS. This gives our school administration the keys to make changes per student on the fly without waiting for IT to implement broad restrictions. This has given the granularity our administrators have asked for in the speedy timeframe they want it.

The best software for macOS/iOS management!

  • March 02, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro allows us to manage all of our computers in the office and out in the field. It's totally customizable and lets us track what matters to us. It's super easy to configure computers for new employees and makes my job much easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's very complex to get setup in the first place. If you're not a hardcore sysadmin, you may want to work with one of the excellent Jamf consultants to get things dialed-in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The need to setup each computer individually. Now we're able to have new users login to a computer, enroll it, and get a bunch of programs/settings pushed out automagically.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need Mac/iOS management, this is the program

Pleased Overall

  • February 21, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very powerful and there are many things that can implemented through Jamf Pro. You can really get control over your infrastructure should you chose to properly utilize everything Jamf Pro can offer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, not much. I had a slight issue with how the JSS looked and was organized, but I know with the newest update that will be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
-the most simple would be the ability to manage our macs.
-offering employees a way to install their own software.
-monitoring licenses for software through VPP. Another would be how quickly we set up macs now.
-the ability to push out policies that for example give admin access to a user for a few minutes if they are having trouble.
-monitoring what problematic software users my have on their machine. For example, if someone has managed to install Tor.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jamf Pro is an incredible product that has taken the management of Macs to a whole new level. I truly believe in the direction it is headed in and in it's ability to solve future problems that we will face. They constantly make it easier to navigate and use Jamf Pro, to a level where you don't need to be tech savvy to successfully make the most of Jamf Pro for your users. Jamf Pro isn't just a product but a mission now, as I saw when I went to the JNUC conference for it last year. I am truly curious about where Jamf Pro will be as the years go on.

JAMF PRO enables Apple devices to be used in an enterprise enviornment

  • February 21, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JAMF Pro is very customisable, most solutions are only limited by your own creativity rather than product restrictions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the core technologies involved in the JAMF platform could be updated, support of enterprise data solutions would go along way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to provide a mac OS build tailored to our needs, that is secure enough for our enterprises needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JAMF is the most mature Enterprise Mac management solution available. Many other solutions are lacking functionality.

Highly Recommended - Best in its class!

What do you like best about the product?
It is EXTREMELY easy to use. Configuration and back end setup can be a bit daunting, especially if you're new to Apple device management, but use of the JAMF product on a day to day basis is borderline common sense.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest complaint is the documentation, specifically the docs that reference making OS, Java, Apache Tomcat, or MySQL changes. Those pieces of information are often vague, which JAMF says is intentional due to many supported server configurations. I would personally like to see more detailed "best practice" documentation for the 4 major supported OS's: OS X, Ubuntu Server, RHEL, and Windows Server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in a K-12 institution and the biggest reason I love JAMF Pro so much is that it allows me to solve issues before they even become issues. For example, in the past VPN's have been a big issue here, kids trying to circumvent the network restrictions, however with JAMF it's extremely easy for us to keep undesired software, apps, and configurations off of our kids' devices.
