What do you like best about the product?
The overall picture of Jamf Pro and Jamf products in general is that you're not just getting a product you're getting an experience that's second to none. Service & Support from Jamf themselves and a community of likeminded Jamfer's to bolster the notion that you're not handed a slab of beef and thrown to the wolves. Constant stream of new features and exciting new ways to manage our small community of devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jamf Pro is pricey let's get that out the way immediately. That being said we're a smallish urban school district so dollar signs alway look bigger than they really appear. This belongs in the like section above, but when I pushed back on the pricing account managers were always willing to help out whenever they could.

This has been discussed to death on Jamf Nation, but the UX is a bit difficult to read at times on 10.x due to the text color palette being used. It seems to be the trend these days to use softer palettes that are difficult to read in brighter settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Initially it was getting our iOS devices managed. No brainer there. Using kludgey manual, configurator type setups are the worst. When we did a full staff laptop replacement several years back those manual, golden image setups wore me out so Jamf Pro came to the rescue. Not quite a no step 3 process, but 99% of our staff setup their own machine.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're new to Mac management as a whole then get a jump start. Even if you're a fast learner or like to DIY a Jump Start helps out tremendously.

Jamf Pro makes life as an IT Professional much easier

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Jamf Pro is that it is a complete solution for managing Macs and iOS Devices. I am able to ship out a brand new asset direct from Apple to an employee and get it set up and managed automatically once they connect to their wifi network. The employee gets the satisfaction of opening a brand new Apple product and we get the peace of mind that their asset will be set up with the correct software, settings, policies, and security that we require for our business. Jamf Pro has made managing Apple IT assets fun.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not too much to dislike about Jamf. Although there have been times when I have run into issues, the support team is always quick to respond and provide me with information and a quick resolution to my problems. Jamf has been a great partner for me personally for the past five years at three different companies I have worked for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my current role, I am the only member of the IT department and Jamf Pro has empowered me with the tools to manage our fleet of IT assets with ease. I have created a lot of automation for software updates, macOS updates/upgrades and patching, and I am able to push out security settings that align with our compliance requirements.

What do you dislike about the product?

Why is it when i access a webpage in JAMF ( Ex: Policies) that after accessing information i need when i hit the back arrow it always returns to page 1 of the database and does-not leave it where i left off in policies category. THIS DRIVES ME OUT OF MIND...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing the entire fleet of mac's at Experian.

Benefits are ease of use and the ability to learn the management system much quicker than others...

JAMF is a must for getting the most out of Apple products in your work enviornment

What do you like best about the product?
I love that it helps me manage my fleet of 1,000 iPhones effortlessly. If one is lost, I can place it in lost mode immediately to safeguard user data. I can add apps on the fly to everyone's phones, as was necessary during this pandemic. It also makes it easier to remotely activate cell service by having all the requisite device hardware info easily available at my fingertips. Jamf gives you create customizability for all your Apple devices. Having a reliable remote mobile device management solution was pivotal to my organization in helping navigate the current COVID-19 crisis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Apple is known to change things on a whim which can sometimes leave us scrambling. Not really an indictment of Jamf, but you can expect to roll with having to relearn how to do things you already are doing but in different ways in order to keep your business afloat. Some products and features have sparse support documentation by Jamf, especially surrounding things like Jamf Connect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jamf Pro is helping our mostly mobile workforce stay connected via their management systems so that even though we aren't face to face we can still troubleshoot and modify devices when needed.

What do you like best about the product?
JAMF Pro is flexible and customisable, encouraging creative solutions that are shared across an incredibly diverse forum. If you have a problem, the solution has generally been implemented before.

I personally use JAMF Pro on a daily basis, it's my primary management tool allowing me to standardise and every growing fleet of devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Inventory can be a little frustrating. I really dislike that I can't work on more than one policy at a time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The management of 7000+ devices across multiple regions and several time zones. The latest problems we're solving right now are JAVA implementation, and the removal of Oracle JAVA across the estate. The benefits will be cost savings.

JAMF Pro - Beyond ARD

  • October 01, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the remote management of Apple services, functions, and apps. I used to do a lot of JAMF's features through Apple Remote Desktop, some of which I had to be extremely creative about. The fact that JAMF operates over the Internet goes beyond ARD's LAN limitation.
What do you dislike about the product?
My dislike is the screen sharing features can't function when devices are on different networks than I am, due to most default firewall settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems have been with the users not keeping their devices awake long enough for managed device communication to complete. Policies will fail sometimes due to loss of network connectivity and I find out that the policy started just as they were sleeping/shutting down the device. I have not had the chance to see the recent JAMF update for policy failure retry in action.

What do you dislike about the product?
Cloud based doesn't provide the internal private IP address on iPads.

Jamf has made it so that we can have a uniform setup on all of our devices. Also allows us to easily push apps and configs to our virtual student iPads.

JAMF is almost magical at helping to manage an Apple fleet

What do you like best about the product?
While there are many ways to accomplish remote activities with your devices, JAMF Pro has tailored their product to get the most out of Apple's built in tools and processes. The interface is clean and easy to learn and navigate, and the Self Service portal available to your end users on macOS is invaluable in reducing help desk requests. Users can use it to install frequently used apps, perform app updates, or run maintenance scripts - all without them needing elevated privileges on their system. The client reporting is robust and scrapes a plethora of information from systems, which can easily be organized into reports on your dashboard to know where your processes stand at a quick glance.
What do you dislike about the product?
We do occasionally have issues with scoping policies to systems for the Self Service portal - at times we are unable to determine why a particular policy app/script is not available to a system that appears to be clearly in the defined scope, only to find the next day that it has suddenly appeared. This might have more to do with how we have the inventory reporting set on the clients or possibly the system check in interval, but the problem seems to be transient and hasn't disrupted our environment much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many sub-groups of Sys Admins in our organization, and having a centralized tool like JAMF prevents us from performing duplicate work. It provides us a central repository that all SAs can use for things like patching 3rd party apps, negating the need for each SA to create update installers on their own for their group. The same goes for new software installs or maintenance scripts - developed resources are easily shared with each group which means solutions get to our users quicker. Since our entire workforce went to mandatory telework in March due to the COVID19 pandemic, we have leveraged JAMF Pro heavily to make sure they stay current with security patches and maintain the security configuration settings we require on our devices.
