Jamf Pro is great for any sized business, and it's continually getting better.

What do you like best about the product?
You can do pretty much anything in order to better manage your macs. If there's something you want to do, but are unsure how to, there's a lot of great information out there from the community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, and it's pretty rare, a device will lose the ability to talk with the MDM server. Not sure if it's an expired cert, someone enrolled incorrectly, or what. Re-enroll the device and it's usually fine. Not a terrible fix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complete management of our macOS and iOS fleet. Pushing out information to agents in the field via iOS devices. Managing updates, software installs, etc on macOS. Had to change antivirus programs not that long ago. Super easy via jamf. Blacklist the old program (it uninstalled it) and run a script to install the new program. Scope it out to everyone. Super easy.

Fantastic Tool for Apple Device Management

  • August 21, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro is the gold standard for apple device management. Nothing else really even comes close. They offer zero day support for Apple OS releases, and are constantly innovating to make device management easier for IT admins. The simplicity of managing profiles and integrating with Apple Business Manager is second to none.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jamf is more expensive than many other competitors. Many competitors are half the price or less. There is also a decent learning curve. The jumpstart is very expensive, but well worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jamf allows us to remotely manage our fleet of Apple devices. Buy being cloud based, we had no issues supporting or managing our devices when everyone was remote during COVID-19. We can manage digital signage around our facilities running on Apple TVs from anywhere in the world. The security provided by using Jamf Pro allows us the confidence to not worry about if a device is compliant.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your budget allows it, there is no better alternative. If you don't have a large budget, you may need to look elsewhere. Plan to allow 1-2 weeks for deployment. Make sure you have someone somewhat familiar with managing macOS, iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS devices to assist with management.

Jamf Pro is great resource for managing MacOs and iOS devices

What do you like best about the product?
Easy of use. This product is the gold standard for managing Macs. Helpful support and community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features need to be fleshed out more. VPP App deployment for MacOs devices is a mess and doesn't work correctly most of the time.

Some of the support apps haven't been update in a few years. Jamf Admin is using the UI from 2012.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jamf allow us to manage 250 devices with one person. We created a similar enterprise environment as our Windows fleet with 1/8 the resources.

Jamf along with a few community created tool has allow me to automate close to 75% of our application catalog. At one point I was spending 15 hours a week packaging and deploying apps, now I am spending 5 hours a month.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have had both the On Prem and Cloud Jamf Pro experiences. On Prem requires provides more flexibility but requires more effort to maintain. Cloud is easier to manage and more expensive.

If you have a lot mobile devices you might want to look at DP in the cloud or outside your network to help deploy packages to these devices.

Great product to deploy Zero Touch devices in the middle of an epidemic.

What do you like best about the product?
The customization for automated deployment. This allows us to have screens during the enrollment process to guide the user on setup. In the middle of a epidemic and everyone working from home, we have the devices shipped right to the end user. They set it up like a personal computer, and it enrolls and pushes all software and configurations automatically.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Patching had more apps. It would be nice to have a more robust database of apps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the problems of patching, Deploying devices to remote employees. Configuring VPN connections remotely allowing them access to resources from anywhere.

Love Jamf Pro!

What do you like best about the product?
I like the way I can make one package and then send it to hundreds of machines with one policy. I can do anything that I would normally do to one machine on hundreds very easily. I love that Jamf has a way that we can all ask questions and then get answers that can help not only us but others as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I guess the only thing I would say is that I wish the Patch Management was more robust. I do like that it lets us know when there is a 3rd party patch available. That way we can test , Make the package and then push it out if needed. If the PM tool actually tested and then scheduled and pushed the patches that would be a dream come true. We have to use a separate PM tool in addition to Jamf.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Jamf I was just using ARD and managing software updates and configuration changes manually to almost 200 machines on campus, now with Jamf I can do it within minutes, instead of hours. The benefits are endless, it allows you to manage and maintain your computers and keep them updated and secure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Jamf to anyone that needs to manage Macs or IOS devices, its a wonderful tool that makes managing them easily.

Jamf is an amazing tool that every enterprise mac admin should implement!

What do you like best about the product?
Remote deployment has never been more important with everyone working from home due to the pandemic. Jamf Pro comes through for the win helping with device and app management in addition to creating a detailed inventory. Plus being able to remotely monitor and increase security across the organization, in addition to utilizing Self Service for approved app deployment without admin credentials needed. On top of it all they have a great customer support team.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great to be able to provide privacy policies internally without a third party tool like PPPC Utility.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Almost everything can be done remotely now which is incredible. Also a big hurdle is using VPP and Apple Business Manager, Apple IDs are no longer required thanks to app management and Self Service.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're on the fence, make the jump! Amazing tool.

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro is by far one of the best MDM out there that allows an automated seamless control of our macOS Fleet.
unfortunately having a covid Pandemic actually highlighted Jamf even more so along with Apple Business Manager remote provisioning is becoming the new norm for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike mostly the deferment options and the user interactions options. A policy can complete but the pkg install may have failed however the enduser can still see a message that the install was a success. I feel there many areas of improvements here that we can accomplish. Although I have to say we are still onPrem customers and I'm not sure if there is a better experience with cloud customers.

Time zones is another one... I wish we can specify the time zone we would like to rollout policies rather than it being dependent on the timezone where our server/database resides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
with Covid-19 being a real concern for not having clients and support teams come into the office, we are able to utilize pre-stage enrollments for remote provisioning . One of the key benefits is having jamf server in our dmz where we are not reliant on being in-house, it also moves us forward to start looking into cloud migrations sooner rather that later.

2020 was crazy...but life without JAMF is worse

What do you like best about the product?
Dedication to the Mac platform! Dedication to pushing MDM technologies forward
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes the interface is a little cumbersome. and logging is a little rough with understanding what the problem is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
interfacing with scripts we have been able to solve a bunch of different customers' needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
just keep swimming. sometimes we had problems but we had to keep pushing and get training and ask questions so that we could get exactly what we needed.

JAMF Pro has been great

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, good integration with other tools (Apple School Manager, AAD)
What do you dislike about the product?
Should have gone with a cloud instance! We did on prem and maintaining infrastructure has grown tiresome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deployment to all of our osx and ios devices. Consistency of these processes alongside the utility that self-service provides has been priceless.

Best in Class MDM for Apple devices

  • August 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to allow the end-user to self serve themselves.
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation is a little generic and would love to see examples on best practices instead of reading through threads on Jamf Nation.(even though the threads have been very helpful.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Less touches on a macbook onboarding through use of pre-stage enrollment, polices and configuration profiles.
