Excellent for Encouraging Learners and Tracking Progress

  • April 29, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ways that you can encourage learners and track them within the system. The set up and organization of content for learners is so helpful. And the way that learners can move through a course.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are times when things take a little extra finessing to get them to link or when changes are made there are multiple ways that each change has to be made this can be frustrating. The ideas in PIE while many are addressed there are some that are critical that have sat for years without any movement in making those improvements. This includes updates with some of the integrations that are used within D2L
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learners are getting the content that they need delivered in a way they can access. The admin structures allow for support of students and faculty to happen seamlessly.

Clean Layout, but Editing Content, Attendance, and Groups Is Frustrating

  • April 29, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Clean layout for users, ability to navigate to different courses easily
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be difficult to add and create new content. Attendance tool is not easy to edit at all. Not always intuitive where button options are (the downwards carrot is not intuitive), groups are hard to edit. Lots of weird things when it comes to trying to edit courses that are not intuitive or similar to other websites.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One place to keep all course content that is easy for learners to access

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes in the demos they are very general and questions are not answered or followed-up on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How to make sure learning is engaging and keeping up with AI and how to leverage technology in design.

Exceptional for Postgraduate Training Delivery

  • April 29, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like D2L Brightspace's intelligent agents, calendar tool, and the flexibility of release conditions because they help make each user's journey relevant to them. The setup was straightforward enough, and we had good guidance from the D2L team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that there's no release condition based on 'award not earned'. It would be great if this feature could be added, as it doesn't exist currently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use D2L Brightspace to deliver a consistent experience at scale in training courses, with tools that make each user's journey relevant.

Flexible and Robust, Needs Some Improvement

  • April 29, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the API in D2L Brightspace as it certainly makes my job easier to create and maintain our suite of courses. From a participant's perspective, the structure of course content, broken down by modules and topic pages, is the best part, alongside the flexibility of the types of course content available. I also appreciate the seamless management and administration of courses, which is a big help given our small team. The development of several automated tools using the Brightspace API makes tasks like generating course pages, managing user enrollment, and fetching metrics from Datahub data sets much simpler.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area that could be improved for us is the Course Merchant system. We recently introduced the storefront to allow for participants to enroll in our courses on-demand. This has mostly worked well for us, but as we look ahead to offering more courses via the storefront and receiving new requirements for who can enroll, there are some pain points that Course Merchant cannot handle, and so we've had to resort back to a manual enrollment process for these courses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L Brightspace helps seamlessly manage and administer courses. The API makes it easier to create and maintain courses, and provides flexibility with content structures.

A Reliable LMS with Room for Enhanced Interaction

  • April 28, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how D2L Brightspace releases new features, like Lumi, and there's been a strong effort to release features that users have requested through PIE. The staff took the time to review my PIE submission, addressed what I considered a bug, and planned it as a feature fix in the next update, which made me feel valued as a customer. I'm excited about Lumi as a built-in AI tool and its continuous improvements, like Lumi Remix and Custom instructions in Lumi Idea.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like an improved discussion experience. Adding in special access, allow students to more easily respond via voice or video threads. A redesign of the discussion board similar to Padlet, or better integration with Padlet. Some kind of internal social media, chatroom that could be used for students to connect with one another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L Brightspace facilitates communication in online courses, enables easy access to course materials, submission of assessments, and viewing grades. I appreciate how new features are aligned with user suggestions through PIE, showing the value placed on customer feedback.

Flexible, Customizable LMS with Smooth Integrations and Standout Support

  • April 28, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that D2L Brightspace has so many resources available to make the experience fit the various needs of different disciplines at the college. Not all of the departments need the same features in an online experience, but D2L does a really good job making sure that their features can cross those "boundaries" and be applicable across with the different functionalities available for group work, discussions, within quizzes, etc. I also appreciate that there is a certain level of "customization" available with the more recent update to the New Content Experience. That has made it much more streamlined and user friendly for our Students (even if faculty aren't quite as keen about the change - but that is just because the buttons moved around in some places). We also utilize a lot of the various partner integrations, so I appreciate that D2L makes it so easy to set those up. We rarely have any performance issues that are based on the D2L side of things for those - more often than not any of the problems with integrations are rooted in the third party provider. And, when those issues do come up, I really like how quickly and thoroughly D2L support looks into the problem. With other software companies I have felt like I wasn't being taken seriously, but I have never felt that way with D2L support.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there are so many great new features that are coming out that aren't available to the core license. I also dislike that there are so many features on request in the PIE area that would be beneficial to SO many people but they aren't on the road map because of the heavy focus on AI. Now, I will say that I understand those tendencies. Revenue has to come from somewhere, and they can't just give high level features to everyone, adn, right now, AI is the hot spot for the tech world. I appreciate the answer in today's webinar that the team is at least investigating more on how some of those AI features may be able to be rolled out for the core package.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L Brightspace makes it so that one person can support a vast number of faculty, staff, and student roles in our organization. The clear updates from D2L each month, the recent updates to the community and the role out of the D2L Academy help to make that even more feasible by providing administrators with the resources that they can share to help faculty, staff, and students understand and navigate the system without having to invest and "reinvent" all of those trainings within our own environment.

Keeps Up with Technology, Needs Better Reporting

  • April 28, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the development tools in D2L Brightspace are always coming up with something new, making me feel like they keep up with technology. I love Lumi, as it has helped us to shorten our development cycle.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more flexibility in report datasets. I feel like I have to merge many reports together to get the results I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L Brightspace helps us develop digital courses and track in-person ones, while tools like Lumi shorten our development cycle.
