The real question is: How quickly can you get the backup up and running? Veeam clearly beats its competitors here.

Versatile Backup Solution with Cost-Effective Licensing
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that Veeam Data Platform works on multiple devices and platforms without a problem. It allows us to use one single vendor for our backup solutions on both Linux and Windows Server, which was not possible before. Adding Linux servers is really easy, you just select it in the dropdown and it gets added.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had problems with backing up Linux databases that have constant traffic. It was having problems getting them to actually complete. This is being done on VMware, so there was a question of whether the issue was with VMware or Veeam, but it was still a concern of ours and something we were having to work through.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam Data Platform lets us manage backups across Linux and Windows Server from a single vendor, solving the issue of needing separate solutions for each. It supports multi-device use without problems and integrates utilities with VMware.

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the unified protection for all workloads with Veeam Data Platform, meaning no siloed tools are needed. I also like the simplified management with a single dashboard that lets me monitor backup status, set policies, and trigger restores across all workloads. This is especially beneficial for MSPs as it allows managing client environments at scale without the need to switch between consoles. Furthermore, I enjoy the flexibility to back up a physical server and restore it as a VM in the cloud or replicate a cloud VM to an on-prem data center with just a few clicks, which is crucial for disaster recovery and cloud migration projects. Also, the initial setup is relatively simple and convenient.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the complexity and opacity of the licensing. Even though VUL simplifies cross-workload licensing, it still lacks transparent usage reporting and granular cost allocation for multi-tenant MSP environments. This can lead to overprovisioning or unexpected bills.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Veeam Data Platform for unified backup and protection of virtual, physical, cloud, and SaaS workloads. It simplifies management with a single dashboard, enhancing disaster recovery and cloud migration with flexible restores. It's excellent for MSPs managing multiple client environments.

What is most valuable?
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer.
Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature.
Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam.
The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out.
Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.
What needs improvement?
Based on my experience, it is very difficult to suggest what Veeam Data Platform can make better, as every feature is included. However, AI should be integrated to enhance troubleshooting processes for failing backups. I believe it should provide error codes and solutions in the failure notifications.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working on Veeam Data Platform for the last six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I can say the stability of Veeam Data Platform is almost 8 to 9, as the cluster functionality was not there in earlier platforms such as version 12, but is provided in version 13.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would rate the scalability part of Veeam Data Platform 10 out of 10 because we have the ability to scale out the product at any time with scale-out backup repositories and can add licenses as needed.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate the technical support from Veeam 6 out of 10 because I have faced difficulties due to response time and quality of support.

It is a simple initial setup process for Veeam Data Platform, especially compared to other backup software.
What other advice do I have?
I am only using the automation features in Veeam Data Platform to generate automatic reports through Veeam ONE.
We are currently using Microsoft Azure for cloud support in Veeam Data Platform, as most of the clients are going for it.
I would rate this product overall a 9 out of 10.

I feel that the reporting capabilities of Veeam Data Platform could be improved. The layout should be clearer, particularly with regards to the filters needed to review backup trends. This aspect seems somewhat unintuitive and could be more visually streamlined to enhance usability.

The only downside is that initial storage configuration can be a bit tricky for new users, and licensing could be more transparent. Also, the console sometimes feels heavy when managing large-scale infrastructures, but performance is still acceptable once configured properly.
