Gupshup Whatsapp
Messaging automation has reduced acquisition costs and supports reliable customer engagement
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Gupshup is as a Business Service Provider for Meta WhatsApp. I connect it with CRM systems like LeverTap or MoEngage, and then Gupshup executes the WhatsApp broadcast for automation purposes. I also use Gupshup for OTP functionality.
What is most valuable?
The best features Gupshup offers are their WhatsApp Business and SMS capabilities. What stands out to me about the WhatsApp Business and SMS features is their downtime, which is quite lower than average.
Gupshup has positively impacted my organization by helping me achieve a lower customer acquisition cost than another BSP. Gupshup helped me reduce approximately 20% of my acquisition costs because they offer a lower cost per send.
What needs improvement?
Their UI is somewhat outdated compared to industry standards and could be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Gupshup for about three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I can confirm that Gupshup is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Gupshup's scalability is quite good because they have an open API.
How are customer service and support?
I think their customer support needs to be improved as they have a very slow response time and lack local support, especially in Indonesia.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have not previously used a different solution. Before choosing Gupshup, I evaluated other options, specifically Macquarie Contact and SendGrid.
How was the initial setup?
The integration process with Gupshup is easy.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment in terms of money saved because Gupshup has the cheapest price cost per send.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I have had a good experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing because Gupshup has the cheapest price to send compared to other BSPs.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using Gupshup is that if you are searching for the most cost-effective option, you can consider Gupshup as a viable choice. I would rate this review an 8 out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Campaigns have boosted targeted user acquisition and now need better UI and support refinement
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Gupshup is WhatsApp automation and marketing campaigns.
One specific use case involved running a campaign for user acquisition for a financial organization to acquire credit card users. I used one of the WhatsApp templates that were created by the organization and utilized it to reach a large number of specific existing users to deploy the particular offers and promotional content. I leveraged Gupshup's Meta detecting tool to confirm the contents from the financial organization side and ran the WhatsApp automation for the same campaign as well.
I do not have anything else to add about my main use case or any other ways I use Gupshup at this time.
What is most valuable?
The best features Gupshup offers are quick verification of the content and quick redirection towards the particular domain the content falls into. Additionally, faster deployment of content including WhatsApp messages or triggers and broad options in terms of user acquisition and CTA buttons are valuable.
The CTA button options in Gupshup have been widely used in the campaign so far. I have leveraged three CTA buttons which are the multiple option button, the single click button, and the WhatsApp poll. These have helped me identify current users and filter specific users who belong to a particular category that I segregated within the campaign I ran.
Gupshup has positively impacted my organization by helping me increase the user base from an existing point of view from zero to 0.6x in a span of three months.
The specific metrics I used to track that increase were the number of WhatsApp message openings and UTM tracking parameters.
What needs improvement?
Gupshup can be improved in terms of the UI and the design of the particular model. Additionally, testing has to be done in terms of the website and the login panel, or the vendor login.
The color in Gupshup needs to be improved and the loading time out has to improve.
On a positive note, the overall experience in terms of the tool experience, the usage and the speed that it automates in is significantly excellent. However, the UI that I mentioned previously and the response rate of the application need improvement, along with a little bit of improvement in terms of experimentation that can be done in the campaigns.
Regarding Gupshup's AI capabilities, I would say accuracy is specifically seventy percent as the content always gets redirected to a specific domain within the Meta guidelines. The reliability of the output is pretty much a one to one ratio.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Gupshup for approximately one and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Gupshup is stable. Out of ten particular days, seven days Gupshup stays stable. During some periods, it goes to a maintenance phase.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Gupshup is pretty good.
How are customer service and support?
Gupshup's customer support needs improvement.
I would rate the customer support of Gupshup on a scale of one to ten as seven.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I used to use WhatsApp Business combined with Google Sheets before due to no proper investment in a particular tool.
How was the initial setup?
There were no such problems during the initial setup or onboarding with Gupshup. The only problems I faced were the vendor login bugs where I was unable to log in through multiple accounts. I also found difficulty changing the spaces from a particular team. For example, if I had to operate the Gupshup account and manage a few spaces for specific campaign related workflows, the shift from one particular project to another was a little bit confusing. That can be improved.
What about the implementation team?
I do not manage user permissions and access controls within Gupshup. The IT team handles it.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment. Specifically, I would point to the employee example. The particular workflow before Gupshup used to take at least ten to fifteen employees to do the work and after Gupshup it took only three to four employees to do the same.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is pretty smooth as they provided a very lean option in terms of the prices and they are flexible as well.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Gupshup, I evaluated other options and went through a few local vendors who provide the same solutions but they were not as accurate as Gupshup.
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Gupshup's AI capabilities, I have leveraged the AI capabilities in terms of agentic AI uses where I have used the particular Gupshup agentic AI voices to leverage it to specific users across my organization, the existing ones. I haven't seen much growth but it is actually considered at least 0.2x growth from the month I started.
My experience with Gupshup's reporting and analytics features is that it is pretty good comparatively as the tracking mechanism works really well compared to other tools.
I would rate how easy it is for my team to customize workflows or templates in Gupshup at least 7.5 out of ten.
Regarding how Gupshup handles data privacy and compliance requirements for my organization, I have directly sent an approval request to the IT department where they go through a maker-checker process and then approval is given from that team after verifying from which tool the specific request has come in. If it is from Gupshup, they validate and then if it is a go, they approve the particular campaign. That covers the data privacy and compliance issues as well.
Gupshup's documentation and training resources are helpful for new users.
The advice I would give to others looking into using Gupshup is that the setup has to be done in terms of how that particular organization wants the tool to work and how they expect the ROI. That is the key for them to get the maximum out of the particular product. I would rate my overall experience with Gupshup as seven out of ten.
Personalized messaging has boosted customer engagement and improves campaign performance
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Gupshup is WhatsApp and SMS messaging. For WhatsApp, we work with the data to create personalized messages for users as well.
For a recent WhatsApp campaign, I ran an offer using blockbuster Tuesday where movie tickets were 92 rupees. I needed to promote multiple movies, so I managed a WhatsApp campaign with a user base of around one to two million. There was personalization where the username would be the first name and the data was managed that way. I made a WhatsApp template first using analytics in Gupshup. Once the template got approved, we ran bulk messages. We did testing where we also used JSON links. Once the testing was successful, then we sent the email to the respective audiences.
My main use case with Gupshup is primarily to improve customer engagement through personalized WhatsApp communication. A challenge we often face is reaching users who are not actively engaging with push and email notifications. WhatsApp provides a high effective engagement rate, which I found particularly valuable. We use behavioral data such as browsing history and the city where the user is located. My role involves coordinating with business stakeholders, defining audience criteria, performing QA, scheduling campaigns, and monitoring performance after deployment. This combination of campaign execution and customer-centric approach allows me to execute disciplined campaigns.
What is most valuable?
The best feature Gupshup offers, which I value the most, is the ability to manage WhatsApp communication at scale while maintaining personalization. It allows me to engage customers through a channel they actively use, which typically results in strong delivery and engagement rates with fewer duplications. Another feature I would support is template-based messaging with dynamic variables. This enables me to personalize messages using customer information including first name, city, and preferences. Gupshup can also provide interactive message formats including reply quick reply buttons and calls to action, where customers can improve their engagement by clicking just one button and taking action directly.
For operational purposes, I find the campaign management capabilities, reporting tools, and delivery tracking very useful. I can monitor status, read rate, click performance, and delivery rate. These features make Gupshup valuable.
Gupshup has had a positive impact both from a business and operational perspective. It helped us reach customers through a high engaging channel including WhatsApp, which often generated better visibility and engagement compared to traditional channels alone. From a business standpoint, it improved our ability to reach customers for event bookings, movie ticket purchases, and re-engagement campaigns because messages were personalized and delivered through a channel which customers actively use. From a team perspective, Gupshup helped streamline campaign execution by providing a scalable platform for WhatsApp. We were able to manage audience segmentation, personalization, and template-based messaging. This reduced manual effort and allowed the team to execute campaigns faster while maintaining quality. Another significant benefit would be integration with our broader CRM ecosystem where other tools provide push notifications. Gupshup has enabled us to coordinate with customers more effectively and be more reachable through WhatsApp.
In recent times, I cannot provide an exact number because the results vary by campaign. We consistently saw WhatsApp outperform other traditional channels. For many campaigns, delivery rates were above 90% and engagement rates were significantly higher than email campaigns and other channels targeted to similar audiences. In re-engagement and promotional campaigns, we observed higher click-through rates where customers were more inclined to view and interact with WhatsApp messages. The use of personalization and direct call-to-action buttons also contributed to stronger conversion. Overall, the combination of strong delivery, high visibility, and faster customer engagement are valued here. I typically achieved delivery rates above 95%, read rates between 60 to 80%, and click-through rates noticeably higher than other comparable tools. In some re-engagement campaigns, WhatsApp also generated 20 to 30% higher engagement when compared to other traditional channels.
What needs improvement?
One additional aspect about Gupshup is its ability to support both transactional communication and offer-based communication, which provides flexibility to integrate with customer data and allows businesses to create more personalized and customer data-driven campaigns. If I suggest an improvement, I would desire to see deeper analytics. Right now there is only a dashboard which offers read rates, send rates, and others. I would appreciate the ability to deep dive into that tool with deeper analysis. Overall, my experience with the customer is positive. It enables scalable campaigns, personalized and high engaging customer communication.
From a data perspective, I would suggest deeper data diving capabilities. Currently, I can only see the read rate. A fix where we can see the data more deeply would be beneficial. Additionally, something I would suggest is improvement of testing where we could add additional A/B testing options. That would actually help marketers improve campaign effectiveness and efficiency. These are small changes I wish I could have.
There are a few areas where Gupshup could be even more powerful.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Gupshup for quite a while now because it is in the entertainment domain, I use Gupshup for WhatsApp and SMS. SMS is on the lower side, but for WhatsApp, we use Gupshup. I use other templates in Gupshup including carousel templates, multi-CTAs, and all types of WhatsApp functionalities.
What other advice do I have?
The advice I will give is that Gupshup is a tool where we can send WhatsApp and SMS and we can actively reach out to users on those platforms where users are very active. This maintains the engagement rate, resulting in higher deliverability chances and higher engagement. We can leverage rich media to personalize campaigns. These are areas we can capitalize on, which drives meaningful user engagement and improves click-through rates. My review rating for this product is 8 out of 10.

Targeted templates have boosted student engagement and simplify personalized admission campaigns
What is our primary use case?
I used Gupshup for WhatsApp marketing by running countdown campaigns where we asked students to fill applications before they closed, for example, ten days to go, nine days to go, eight days to go. We sent these WhatsApp communications via Gupshup, along with all ad-hoc communications that contained informative content about the university, the application fill-up process, and the admission process.
What is most valuable?
My main use case with Gupshup was flawless; it was very user-friendly, and I personally loved using it. We still use it now, but I stopped using it because I changed my profile.
Gupshup offers a variety of templates which we use for WhatsApp marketing, and all those templates are very easy to use and user-friendly as well.
Gupshup helps us simplify our tasks with its easy-to-use templates that utilize variable functions, which we can use for the student's name and phone number. We use a variable for the admission officer's name as well since each student has been allotted an admission officer, allowing us to directly send them personalized messages.
Gupshup has an option to send a test message to yourself, which lets you see how the end-user will receive the message and how they view it. For example, you can check if they are able to click the links provided or if they are receiving the correct information.
Gupshup positively impacts our organization by improving our efficiency with the variety of templates; we see more open rates of the messages and more click rates as well. The templates are very attractive, and we notice a positive impact on students after they receive them, resulting in increased open rates and click rates.
What needs improvement?
I did not explore Gupshup very much, but according to me, there is no needed improvement; it is a perfect tool to use and very user-friendly. Everyone can use it, and there is no complexity behind it; you do not need to learn anything extra, it is very easy.
If Gupshup could add a video with the WhatsApp message instead of just providing a link, that would have a great impact while communicating.
For how long have I used the solution?
I used Gupshup for one year at the start of my job.
How was the initial setup?
Integrating Gupshup with our existing systems was not that tough; it was easy because we used to have Salesforce, and we were accustomed to that. Gupshup was also easy for us to adapt to, and we acquired the process of sending campaigns very easily with hardly one day of training before becoming experts with it.
What other advice do I have?
We improved our open rates and click rates by approximately ten to twelve percent after using Gupshup.
I chose nine out of ten because in the education industry, we want every piece of information to reach the student. Nowadays, students are more interested in seeing videos of the campus or the infrastructure, so if a video feature gets added, I would give the additional point.
A colleague uses Gupshup and says it is a very good platform to send and manage campaigns, noting it is easier to manage campaigns in Gupshup than in other tools.
I gave this review a rating of nine out of ten.
Automated cafe insights and billing have saved time and now support thousands of customers
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Gupshup is to send daily insights about cafes to the cafe owners and to send the cafe bill to the cafe customers on WhatsApp. I work on a backend Django-based system where I have pre-coded the sending of the messages through WhatsApp. Before setting that up, I had to set up Gupshup, create custom templates for the bill, and get them approved from Gupshup. I also had to get a number that I specifically needed to attach to Gupshup and verify by Meta.
What is most valuable?
Most of my usage of Gupshup is through API. I hardly ever use the website because I have already set up everything to work automatically; I just have to check it for maintenance or any changes.
According to me, the API is the best feature of Gupshup. The sign-up process is very seamless; it hardly took me less than 30 minutes to sign up, and it took me about two days to get my templates and number approved.
Template management is very easy with Gupshup. It is quite reliable, and I have not faced any issues with it. The pricing is very reasonable; it is very cheap and affordable, which is a positive aspect.
Gupshup has impacted my organization very positively. It is a good platform, very reliable, and this is the first platform that we have used where we did not feel any need to switch over to any competitor because Gupshup is everything it markets itself to be.
Gupshup saves a lot of time in my organization. If we did not have Gupshup, we would have to draft the daily insights of each customer and owner and send them manually, which would take a tremendous amount of time. Imagine sending thousands of people their daily insights; it would be quite tedious. This automated system is very good.
What needs improvement?
Gupshup could be improved by adding more selection of templates.
The API documentation for Gupshup could be a little more specific, but it gets the work done. It is not the case that you need to refer to the API documentation always; you just have to go through it one time and understand it fully. I hope that it could be a little better.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Gupshup for around two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
In my experience, Gupshup is very stable. In two years, I have never had a single issue.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Gupshup is very scalable in my experience.
Customer support with Gupshup is good as well. I never had any problem that required me to reach out to customer support, so that is not something I can answer. However, their scalability is good; I set up the code once while writing the founding code, and it is still working with no changes needed. We have grown from zero to about 6,000 cafes signed up with us, so it scales quite well.
How are customer service and support?
Customer support with Gupshup is good. I never had any problem that required me to reach out to customer support, so that is not something I can answer.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously did not use any different solution; Gupshup was the first solution that I tried, and it just worked well.
How was the initial setup?
I rate the initial setup a 10 out of 10 because I started using Gupshup and it just works. I did not have any problem with it; I just had to get my templates approved, set up the work with the API, and integrate it into my backend, and it just works. It never gave me any problem, and there was no reliability issue.
What was our ROI?
Gupshup saves us around five to six dollars per cafe, which is quite a lot. If we were to do this manually, we would have to keep a person, which would take about $60 an hour, and they could only handle maybe 60 insights. That would be approximately $6-7. Gupshup is very cheap; I think it is around 50 cents per thousand messages or something, but I am not sure. It has been a while since I went through the pricing; I just pay the bill.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with Gupshup's pricing, setup cost, and licensing was very good. The pricing is very reasonable and it is the cheapest in the market right now. That was one of the factors that attracted me towards Gupshup in the first place. We set it up after first exploring Gupshup via their sandbox, which is a nice feature to have, and then we approved our templates and set up API with their API documentation for WhatsApp.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Gupshup's AI capabilities, I think it is pretty secure. It is pretty accurate regarding Gupshup's AI capabilities, but I think the AI cannot always be accurate. However, it gets the job done. My advice would be to get your templates ready as soon as possible, as it takes quite some time to get them validated. I would rate this review a 10 out of 10 overall.
Campaigns have achieved reliable messaging and chatbot automation but support response time needs improvement
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Gupshup is for sending WhatsApp and SMS. First, we check the plan and what we need to send, then we write the content and whitelist accordingly on Gupshup for WhatsApp and SMS. Then we trigger the campaign through MoEngage, and we connect our MoEngage or any other CRM tool to Gupshup, and then we trigger the campaigns.
This is a normal integration, similar to what we used to do with other service providers. One special thing we built is a chatbot. Whenever a user comes and asks questions on our chatbot with the questionnaires we already predefined, the user gets the answer based on the questions they raise, and it is very helpful. That is one of the special use cases we use on Gupshup.
What is most valuable?
Most of the features already there, such as WhatsApp, CTA, media, rich media button, video, documents, and all other formats are supported by Gupshup, similar to other service providers. We also use SMS. SMS features include CTA, non-CTA, simple links or multiple links, transactional, and promotional. All of these features we use in Gupshup.
In terms of triggering the campaign, we do not face much of a problem. All campaigns go smoothly without any hiccups. Approximately 90% of the time, all our campaigns execute successfully.
For WhatsApp, we get around 70-75% delivery rate. For SMS, we get around 80% delivery rate. Open rate, click rate, and conversion metrics are really about our company, but mainly in terms of engagement, open clicks, and all of these things we track regularly.
What needs improvement?
The main area is the support team. Whenever there are hiccups, the support team takes a lot of time to come back with the resolution. When I face an issue with the template triggering or delivery of the campaigns, the support team will take some time or a lot of time to come back. By the time they respond, I have already figured out what exactly the cause of the problem is. The main thing the support team should do is give immediate resolution, not take a day or two or three days. That is the only thing Gupshup can improve.
Some of the features that Meta launches, such as RCS, keep launching new features. When it comes to Gupshup, sometimes there will be a delay. We want to have those features immediately so we can test them with our users and experiment and bring more results. We want to get the features immediately whenever Meta or Google launches new features on different channels.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in the CRM field for five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Gupshup is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Gupshup can improve further, but so far it is good. We are able to do large volumes of campaigns without any hassle.
How are customer service and support?
The main area is the support team. Whenever there are hiccups, the support team takes a lot of time to come back with the resolution. When I face an issue with the template triggering or delivery of the campaigns, the support team will take some time or a lot of time to come back. The main thing the support team should do is give immediate resolution, not take a day or two or three days. That is the only thing Gupshup can improve.
Customer support needs to improve, and there are many areas they can improve in terms of bringing resolution, troubleshooting issues, and all.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We have been using Gupshup mainly because we switched due to the costing. The other vendors are offering more cost compared to Gupshup, which is why we had to switch to Gupshup.
What was our ROI?
We keep doing experiments on a regular basis. We do A/B testing using WhatsApp, SMS and all, and we have gotten better ROI in terms of campaigns. We are happy.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding pricing, we keep negotiating with the vendors, but so far we are getting good cost for the channels we use. We are happy.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Regarding Gupshup's security, it is already known in the industry that Gupshup is known for security, and I do not have any issues. It is a good one.
What other advice do I have?
There are not really any standout features.
Gupshup is doing a good job in terms of accuracy and reliability, and they can keep doing so. I would rate this review as a seven out of ten based on all the feedback I have provided for the improvements.
Make use of all the features and all the channels Gupshup is providing. Do the experimentation and check which channel is working better and where all the things they can improve and how they can improve delivery. All of these things Gupshup can provide, so make use of those things properly.
Unified omni-channel alerts have increased real-time delivery reliability and improved user onboarding
What is our primary use case?
My primary use case is managing the infrastructure for our omni-channel communication pipeline, specifically automating multi-factor authentication, delivery transaction alerts, and automated customer onboarding notification via WhatsApp Business API and SMS channels.
In our digital lending and supply chain finance platform where real-time alerting is critical, we configured our microservices running in AWS EKS to trigger Gupshup's REST API whenever a milestone occurs. We built a high-throughput webhook architecture using AWS API Gateway and Lambda to consume Gupshup's real-time delivery status reports. This allows us to track message delivery latency and instantly failover from WhatsApp to SMS if a customer is offline, ensuring compliance with the financial notification timelines.
We use it to abstract communication infrastructure for our product team. Instead of developer teams writing custom logic for various telecom operators, we provide them with a single internally managed wrapper around Gupshup's API.
It is a communication platform as a service. Our microservice hosted on AWS EKS connects directly to Gupshup cloud endpoints, and Gupshup streams transactional data back to our public cloud VPC via secure webhooks.
What is most valuable?
The best features in my experience are the Unified Omni-channel API, robust webhook framework, WhatsApp template management, developer sandbox, and intelligent routing.
The Unified Omni-channel API provides a single API payload structure that can route messages seamlessly to WhatsApp, SMS, or RCS, which has helped significantly. The unified WhatsApp Business API gateway completely eliminated the operational complexity of managing direct telecom carrier lines and dealing with disparate WhatsApp onboarding processes, allowing us to deploy communication channels in hours instead of weeks.
It has vastly improved our communication engagement metrics, lowered communication delivery latency, and simplified compliance auditing by centralizing our messaging logs.
We have achieved a 97 to 98 percent successful delivery rate for business-critical OTPs and transactional notifications. We also significantly reduced message delivery latency down to sub-three seconds globally, which slashed user drop-off rates during onboarding.
What needs improvement?
I would appreciate more granular error code documentation for edge case API delivery failures, deeper out-of-the-box integration with cloud monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch or DataDog for native metric scraping, and a more responsive administrative console when querying massive historical message logs.
The core API routing engine is incredibly resilient. Most of our desired improvements are around developer experience, such as updating older SDK documentation and providing self-service, multi-tenant sub-account management controls.
The security controls are solid. Given that we have to operate in the fintech space, data privacy is non-negotiable. Gupshup supports secure HTTPS API requests, robust API key management, and data encryption in transit. However, more advanced enterprise role-based access control inside the dashboard would further strengthen governance.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Gupshup for more than a year.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We negotiated and purchased our licensing directly through the vendor to tailor volume commitments to our scaling requirements.
What other advice do I have?
Invest early in building a resilient webhook consumer architecture on your cloud backend. If you handle delivery status reports effectively, you can build a highly powerful, self-healing message routing logic.
For any DevOps or engineering team tasked with building a scalable, omni-channel notification pipeline, especially in a region where WhatsApp dominates customer engagement, Gupshup is a highly scalable, capable, and dependable utility. I would rate this solution an 8 out of 10.

Reliable messaging has enabled us to send timely loan and NPA notifications to customers
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Gupshup is sending emails, messages, and WhatsApp texts to customers. I use Gupshup for sending messages and WhatsApp texts to customers in the scenario where the company I'm working for provides loans. Customers need to be notified for every small thing that happens. I send mails, WhatsApp, and SMS only through Gupshup.
What is most valuable?
The best features Gupshup offers are quite straightforward. Gupshup maintains a portal, and whatever we want to set in that portal is well-defined. They have exposed their APIs through which we can integrate and send notifications to customers.
What I appreciate most about the portal and the APIs is that it works all the time. In 99% of cases where the API sends a 200, the mails, SMS, and WhatsApp are sent to customers. It has a very good interface to work with.
Gupshup has positively impacted my organization because since we have been using this for the last two years in our company, it is highly reliable. I recently integrated a feature that was tagging customer NPA. Loans that customers are not paying and are in overdue need to be tagged as NPA. For that, I integrated Gupshup in my service, through which we send notifications to customers that they are being marked NPA. If they want that to be overturned, they should pay their overdues as soon as possible.
What needs improvement?
My feedback regarding Gupshup is that during the DLT setting of IDs in the SMS and WhatsApp section, whatever is written in the portal has to be precise. This is something that could be a bit more lenient.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Gupshup since January 2025.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I choose nine out of 10 for Gupshup because I have tried other services such as Airtel, but Gupshup stands out for me because of its reliability and its pricing. It is quite easy to integrate.
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Gupshup's AI capabilities, we are using it because whatever mail is sent to the customer is sensitive data. I know that data will not be exposed. Gupshup is highly reliable.
Regarding Gupshup's AI capabilities, I believe it delivers accuracy and reliability of output at 110%. It delivers; 99% of whatever I want to do is being delivered to the customer. I totally understand its capabilities and trust in them.
I believe Gupshup is one of the best services that I have used for sending notifications, and I totally trust it. I would suggest anyone who wants to know more about this to try it once. I am rating this review nine out of ten.

What is our primary use case?
I have been using Gupshup for the last four years in the organization for SMS API management.
Gupshup serves as a provider for the API, helping us to get the OTPs and the omnichannel transactional conversation messaging. I use it to automatically dispatch highly reliable, time-sensitive alerts such as delivery tracking, payment confirmation, and OTPs. I also use it to build automated AI chatbots that allow our customers and clients to browse catalogs and complete purchases entirely within the chat thread. This is our primary use case for using Gupshup.
What is most valuable?
There are multiple features that I love about Gupshup. The first thing I love about Gupshup is the single API integration, which helps me to write the code once to send messages across SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS without needing to manage them from a separate telecom integration. The second thing I love about Gupshup is the auto intelligent routing, which helps me to route messages automatically through the most optimal telecom carrier to ensure the highest possible delivery rate and lowest latency. It basically routes through the best network, choosing the best telecom carrier to ensure that I achieve the highest possible delivery rate and lowest latency, helping me to deliver real-time alerts, OTPs, and all other messages to the end user. The third thing I love about it is that it has conversational AI agents with built-in capabilities that allow me to automate level one customer support directly over the chat, deflecting expensive call center volumes. In any case of L2 escalations, they are directly handled through my team. So 70 to 80 percent of the volume has been directly cut off by using the conversational AI agents. Lastly, I love the strict compliance that it follows, the ISO 27001 certification and data masking, which is mandatory for processing the financial data that I send. This is something I truly appreciate about it.
Gupshup has positively impacted my organization in multiple ways. First of all, as I shifted from the traditional email SMS blast to conversational WhatsApp marketing directly, it has significantly impacted the bottom line and provided an overall return through the WhatsApp automation report showing around 398 percent on investment over a three-year period. The second ROI I have seen is in conversion rates, as WhatsApp messages boast open rates exceeding 90 percent, while businesses see around 55 percent. I have also observed a 58 percent increase in checkout conversion rates compared to traditional web or email funnels. The third ROI pertains to AOV, the average order value. Using the AI agent cross-sell feature, I have been able to cross-sell more and have seen sales boost by 3.33 percent a day.
What needs improvement?
I do not feel that Gupshup needs any improvement. It is an absolute solution, and I believe they do not need improvements in UI, UX, customer support, product visibility, or learning curve. Everything is very detailed, and I feel it is the best in this segment. I do not have any suggestions for improvement.
I do see advancements of AI and ML in the upcoming years as a potential area for Gupshup to focus on further. I am witnessing new LLM and models emerging in the industry daily, so naturally, I think the AI agents could be improved. Beyond that, I do not feel anything else is needed as an improvement.

What was our ROI?
Gupshup has positively impacted my organization in multiple ways. First of all, as I shifted from the traditional email SMS blast to conversational WhatsApp marketing directly, it has significantly impacted the bottom line and provided an overall return through the WhatsApp automation report showing around 398 percent on investment over a three-year period. The second ROI I have seen is in conversion rates, as WhatsApp messages boast open rates exceeding 90 percent, while businesses see around 55 percent. Using the AI agent cross-sell feature, I have been able to cross-sell more and have seen sales boost by 3.33 percent a day.
I have experienced an engagement spike with Gupshup where the click-through rates have increased by 57 percent on the WhatsApp notifications, resulting in a 10x ROI implementation over the legacy email and push notification channels. The traffic driven through the Gupshup conversational prompts demonstrates a 1.7x higher likelihood to purchase compared to standard web traffic. During sales seasons and sales events, this has directly contributed to hundreds of thousands of dollars in incremental monthly revenue. This is a significant and positive impact. Regarding cost savings, the call center deflection I mentioned earlier has increased productivity multiple times. By enabling the AI-enabled support agent, I have achieved a 4.3x boost in customer care productivity, as it converses with customers at the L1 level. This has cut the cost for hiring customer support teams and training. Moreover, Gupshup maximizes delivery success rates and minimizes engineering overhead. The delivery speeds have significantly increased due to this API, which led to a 78 percent increase in organizational efficiency and an 89 percent reduction in customer complaints, as most issues are resolved directly by the conversational AI agents.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding the metering and billing experience, I feel that Gupshup has provided me exceptional results. The payment plans and model for paying directly were not expensive at all. I am essentially advancing with a billing-based model, receiving bills directly according to my usage. Since I accessed Gupshup through the AWS marketplace, I am billed based on the number of communications sent and the number of users interacting with the system. The billing is reasonable, and I have set limits within a 24-hour period. This includes price per messaging and pricing, and that is what I am currently using for the metering and billing experience.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
What other advice do I have?
I rate Gupshup a 5 out of 5. As I have already shared the ROI and the primary use case, I feel that Gupshup deserves that score.
