What do you like best about the product?
IBM Maximo Asset Management is the enterprise asset management (EAM) software solution product produced by IBM. It is a solution used to operate, maintain, and dispose of company assets. It focuses on asset types such as plants and production (for example, oil, gas, chemicals, mining, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food, electronics, and power generation [5]) Infrastructure (including railways, roads, telecommunications, water and wastewater, and electricity and gas distribution networks) Transport (for military, airlines, trucking, shipping, rail, and other uses) Real estate and facilities (for example, in offices, schools, and hospitals)

Maximo is the basis of the Tivoli Automation Engine process, which is the central part of Tivoli Service Automation Manager [7] [8] and it has been licensed to other companies for more specific development. [5] [9]
What do you dislike about the product?
EAM is globally known for being critical in asset-intensive industries, namely utilities, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, rail and public transport, heavy industry, and facilities, including hospitals, campuses, and hotels.

The current version, IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6, is the third version built on a J2EE service-oriented architecture. It is an enterprise Asset Management, service management, and IT asset management suite of applications that are scalable and easily integrated into existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Maximo is the foundation of the Tivoli Automation Engine process, which is the central part of Tivoli Service Automation Manager, and it has been licensed to other companies for more specific development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Need for in-depth knowledge in management.

Excellent product, market leader not by chance

  • April 30, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Maximo is just leader for asset management, it manages everything about an asset lifecycle going from the acqusiition, to management of maintenance, to decomissioning. It can also manage very well workflows (let's say, acquisition approval and such), these can be configured to the detail to adhere perfectly to enterprise policies.
It is also very easily integrated with HR and cost management software such as SAP either by using it's official adapter or API's.

All in all maximo is the way to go for asset management
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is a bit old, this is unfortunately often an issue with IBM products. Although the product is good and the interface is simple and cannot be too complicated, the interface could be improved with a little bit of eye candy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asset management has become easier to implement and make it so that the company doesn't have to change it's policy to adapt to the software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For SAP integration it's best to just the API's without having to pay for the official adapter.
