Fantastic monitoring tool for your full-stack!

What do you like best about the product?
LM comes with a bunch of pre-built "datasources" to help get you rolling early. But the fact that they provide great documentation and support to create your OWN datasources makes the product so much more viable for power-users. Out of the dozens of tickets I have opened with LM, I have never had an issue with Support not assisting me solve my problem!
What do you dislike about the product?
The frontend is a little dated. As of Jan-2020, they're actively working on improving the styling to make it more modern, so that's promising.

The limitations with collector sample timing is also somewhat disappointing. Currently, we can only sample a resource every 1 minute. For servers, this may not be an issue - but networking gear, 60 seconds is an eternity. Would be awesome to see improvements made to SNMP monitoring on specific network gear to allow for more granular sampling rate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Companies usually jump into deploying new technology without considering how to monitor and alert on it. LogicMonitor simplifies that process tremendously. But what most companies then fail to do is collect metrics on that data over time and analyze what is normal or an anomaly. With LM, that is baked in from the start.

We have used LM to see poor response times in services that we never knew were an issue - and resolved them!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be comfortable and familiar with scripting languages. The extensibility of LM is its truest power - being able to write custom datasources really exposes what it can do!

Logicmonitor, a review story

  • January 17, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of LM is quite good, property sources are fantastic for inventory.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's more difficult than I like to update instance level properties for creative use cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ingesting more information than we had with any other monitoring platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It would be important to have multiple people willing to tweak the product to your needs.

Very fluid and extensible product!

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part about LogicMonitor is the ease of extending my monitoring capabilities, and to be perfectly honest - the properties. The ability to manually and automatically create properties to "tag" almost anything in the portal is an under-appreciated feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some UI changes that could be made, and it would be nice to see more consistency in the design / function of all parts of the portal (specifically I am thinking of LogicModules, Collectors, and Resource/Websites).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are monitoring 90+ of our customers inside of LogicMonitor and constantly expanding our monitoring footprint to proactively identify incidents prior to them becoming problems. One such example is monitoring GoDaddy CNAME records and the corresponding CNAME records in Route 53 (AWS), and alerting if there is a mismatch.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you take time to identify who will be administrating the product, having a small team of 2-3 people as custodians of the portal helps keep it consistent and organized until automation can be applied to it.

Proactively Awesome

What do you like best about the product?
It's a very detailed monitoring system that allows my team to visualize and resolve issues before they actually become issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nada. LogicMonitor seems to check all the boxes for our purposes
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Config change management, Network and disk space usage, error counting... everything we need to proactively catch resolve issues
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Not only does LogicMonitor proactively monitor most devices out of the box, but the ability to customize datasources gives you full control over your entire environment. The alerting features integrated in LogicMonitor gives any organization the ability to customize rules and escalations, including web, text, email and phone updates. If performance is what you are seeking, LogicMonitor not only runs efficiently in any environment, but it will also monitor and report web, database, applications and infrastructure in real time. The collectors are easy to setup and 98% of the LogicMonitor environment run virtually by LogicMonitor. If you are seeking a pain free monitoring solution that can monitor usage and performance of physical infrastructure, applications, api, web and resources, then LogicMonitor is the perfect solution for any size organization and enterprise.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the streamlined nature LogicMonitor offers. It's surprisingly easy to set up and configure monitoring for our environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting functions could stand to be expanded on. You are limited somewhat in what you can do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LogicMonitor allows us to monitor multiple client systems with one tool. It allows our NOC and engineers to have a single pane of glass experience across multiple environments.

Great monitoring solution!

What do you like best about the product?
Great monitoring out of the box. Lots of options for customization and fine-tuning.
What do you dislike about the product?
The granularity of options sometimes make it difficult to achieve a seemingly simple desired effect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Infrastructure and website availability, primarily. Proactively responding to issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate your options, but if LogicMonitor appears to meet your needs, I believe you will be happy with it and the support.

LogicMonitor: the easy to configure monitoring platform.

  • November 13, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
An excellent platform with which you can configure and collect useful data in just minutes. Something I love is that it is cloud based and low maintenance. Its panels are very easy to configure and customize. LogicMonitor connects very well with the ticket system for creating, updating and closing cases. It has a very intuitive and consistent interface which makes the application easy to use. And what I really like is that if you don't find what you need you can create your own modules, since your panels can generate them with just a few clicks and they appear on the monitor.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a great monitoring tool, but I think that if they provided some easy method to monitor the records, this would be really useful. And in some cases we don't get the data source of some devices, which should be able to improve it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a monitoring tool, it helps us see where a problem is happening and we can send emails to open tickets for our help teams. It is also used to execute uptime and usage reports for our managers and CEO. LogicMonitor helps us address monitoring problems, especially our physical and virtual infrastructure at all levels.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
LogicMonitor is a relatively very simple platform to implement in a company, since it does not have to require agents in the supervised endpoints, this simplifies its implementation. It is very ideal for medium to large environments, it monitors the most modern IT systems with very flexible alert options. The tracking is extremely accurate and provides an extremely concise dashboard that allows you to monitor all the most critical systems from one location.

What do you like best about the product?
Simple adding new devices - just put the address/IP and device will be discovered
What do you dislike about the product?
Only one escalation channel per alert rule. it is a big disadvantage for medium and large organizations which included many technical specialists
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've created a dashboard which shows me the info about all interested devices

Great Monitoring

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that LogicMonitor tracks all aspects of the networks switches and servers. We don't have to figure out what is needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is some complexity in the setup and permissions for monitoring equipment that could use clearer directions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Historical monitoring is great, you can see trends over time that help solve issue or provide support data for strategic plans.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend some time to take the class and become familiar with how LM works. Better in the long run
