The best modern CMS
What do you like best about the product?
We tried just about all the headless CMS solutions, and Contentful was the most polished, most fully-featured, and was the easiest for non-technical team members to figure out and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
GraphQL is the future of APIs, and most small startups use it now, but it is limited to the higher-level plans.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Contentful to manage everything from our websites and landing pages, to which sponsors to display on which programs, to configuration options and translations for in-person displays.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Contentful is a great option, and by far the most polished one we evaluated.
Implementation is accessible to all.
What do you like best about the product?
Even for those not used to CMS, the UI is simple and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Spaces and users need a certain amount of development.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easy to use and super clean to enjoy so much. LOVE how our different parties will receive updates and review their different sections. Nevertheless, it is not possible to chat on the forum with direct support or assistance. Spaces and client interfaces were also available in different packages-this would help us increase the size.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is important to choose the right partner to introduce so that items are not left as highly customisable.
Build web pages and content libraries
What do you like best about the product?
Contentful is simple to use and comprehend, even for beginners in this sort platforms. What I like most about this platform is that it allows me to edit every type of content, coming in different formats, so our website is always renewed and grabbing attention. As a user of WordPress, I can tell Contentful is safer and more reliable than WordPress, so I definitely don't regret switching platforms at all.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be frank, I have never come across any serious problem with Contentful. There are some minor complications when you start integrating it with Gatsby and when you start to model content, but there's nothing else to say.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Contentful is used in my organization across several departments, but it is specifically used in the Marketing Department to build web pages and content libraries that will be later used for Marketing purposes. We decided to implemented and keep Contentful because it provides many functions to maintain our information secured in our servers as a backup. I work as a developer too, and the usage of Gatsby as a static generator has been really helpful and has guided us a lot.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For any company focused on easy marketing behavior, Contentful is the right content management platform. There are only a few instances in which it would not be well suited, as if you had to handle huge amounts of information. In those specific cases, you might need another software.
Simple interface, robust APIs
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to easily add new content models and create interdependencies between them, the GraphQL endpoint is a HUGE plus, the content creation interfaces are pretty intuitive and easy for beginners to use. Friendly support staff, and overall just gets the job done and gets it done well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like the ability to preview linked media in the list view, as well as bulk uploading/editing. I'm finding that scripting is needed for some features that I'd expect to be available in the list view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Contentful is helping the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus digitize and tag our 40-year media archive, opening our history and our story up to chorus members and the public at large. We'll be able to store, view, and enrich our history using advanced tagging, cross-referencing, and community input.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Map out your data model early, and try to stick to it. The more content you add, the harder it will be to migrate previous data without scripting.
How our nonprofit team of 4 can compete with multi-million dollar companies
What do you like best about the product?
Contentful sites gracefully in the space between developers and content creators. As a solo dev, I've been able to give a team of 10 writers and 2 editors the ability to run with content and control it in a way with out static site builder that looks great and out-performs competitors on SEO.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's getting better, but migrating content to new models is a bit tough. However as a solo designer/dev for Upsolve, it's also a matter of being constrained by time with other business needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Programmatically handling content is critical if we want to make more compelling web experiences and serve better SEO information to search engine crawlers. We're already dominating competitors with rich snippets.
Contentful is how the future of all CMS should be.
What do you like best about the product?
A lot to love about Contentful. Very easy to use for the end user, slick and simple user interface and support for GraphQL. Awesom support and super-fast CDN. Easy to extend via Plugins and a very clean API.
What do you dislike about the product?
Contentful has a notion of "Links" which can be many objects or one. However, would be great if we can model the reverse relationship without doubling the work (i.e. specify the children AND parent of each object).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating various CMS platform under one 'Content Platform', the benefits are speed, agility and one source of truth.
Best for developers
What do you like best about the product?
We were looking for secure and fast backend for our mobile app and web page. Contentful is content oriented solution with very intuitive interface. There is no need to contact support, but when needed, solved problem instantly. API and its documentation are easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing found to dislike so far. I hope this will not change in future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Contentful for managing content in our mobile app and web page. The biggest benefit is time saving during managing content. Implementing multi localisation with Contentful went smoothly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Every time you need to handle large amount of data on multiple platforms, regardless of the presentation layer - you should consider Contentful as your main choice.
Great CMS!
What do you like best about the product?
It is so simple to use. The content delivery API is so easy to use and very full featured. The UI extensions are great.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not as extensible as other options like ContentStack. It doesnt have a full featured Rich Text field yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A CMS for our ecommerce website.
Great Headless CMS
What do you like best about the product?
Contentful is GREAT at modeling content. It's awesome to be able to model your content to represent your actual content and deliver it via simple SDK's and leave the rendering of that content to your web application, mobile app, etc... It also makes re-using content really simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to see more built-in field types. The new rich text editor is pretty good, but is missing things that are required for it to be truly useful in a web app setting.
Also, with lots of content, the content editor can be a little overwhelming. You can save custom views which is basically just a single content type filter. Would be great to be able to create views that combine several related types of content, filter by a property, etc...

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Right now we're utilizing Contentful for our non-profit's web site. The big benefits have been independence from developers and ease of content entry. It's also extremely fast!
