Best Patch management tool with multiple options

  • August 13, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a cybersecurity engineer, I find Automox extremely effective in mitigating outdated software with just a single click. The Group Policy customization options are excellent, allowing us to tailor settings such as scheduling, automatic restarts, and more to meet our specific needs. With the one-click scan feature, we can quickly patch devices, making the entire process seamless and efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven’t noticed any disadvantages so far. However, having a single, built-in connector for seamless integration with SIEM and ticketing tool would make it even more efficient and valuable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We conduct quarterly audits, and previously, we had to manually access each device to patch outdated software. Automox has simplified this process, allowing us to complete the task quickly and efficiently.

Makes patching way less painful

  • August 11, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We’ve been using Automox for a while, and honestly, it’s saved me a lot of headaches. Before, patching was this long, boring process I had to babysit, and sometimes updates would get missed. Now, most of it just happens on its own, even for our remote systems.

The dashboard is simple enough once you get used to it, and I like that I can set up policies and not worry too much after. Only thing is, in the beginning, figuring out custom policies took some trial and error. Reporting could also be more detailed without having to export stuff. But overall, it does what it promises and has made patch management way smoother for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Takes a bit to learn, reporting could be better
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A few months ago, we had a critical update that needed to be pushed out quickly. Normally, that would’ve taken hours of manual work. With Automox, I set the policy, and by the next day, all our devices were covered without me running around checking each one.

The UI can feel clunky when digging into detailed settings.

Server support isn’t as robust compared to desktop environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Provides real-time application updates with exceptional support

  • August 06, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use Automox to maintain the software on all our computers. We were using Qualys before and we're still using it, but we found Qualys to be a little bit lacking since it wasn't really eliminating all the vulnerabilities. We have been using it for years and it's almost as if we still have the same vulnerability count. We wanted to try something new with Automox in that most of the vulnerabilities are taken care of just by updating the applications that we use on our computers.

We have not used Automox's scripting capabilities for automating routine tasks such as software deployment and configuration changes yet, but we're probably not going to see a massive need for that since we don't have many in-house applications or a development team.

What is most valuable?

Some of the better features with Automox include its nice GUI, which looks intuitive, and it doesn't have a huge learning curve.

Automox's real-time visibility and control through its intuitive dashboard is important for our response to emerging threats because it tells us which applications need to be updated on a real-time basis.

What needs improvement?

I wouldn't be able to tell you how Automox can be improved; it seems to work very nicely already.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with Automox for four months, as we just started using it recently.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate Automox's customer service and technical support as excellent. They are really good because they don't take five days to get back to me; they respond within 24 hours with really good information. The initial reply is great, providing advanced information if I want to handle it on my own, or I can just wait for the tech to interact with me.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using Qualys before and we're still using it, but we found Qualys to be a little bit lacking since it wasn't really eliminating all the vulnerabilities. We have been using it for years and it's almost as if we still have the same vulnerability count.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not complex at all, but I understand it could get complex depending on what you want to do, and we're still at the stages where I need to be able to do that.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We were not evaluating other options when we chose Automox. My IT director gave me the task of trialing it and using it, and eventually, we purchased it.

We did not perform any other evaluations.

What other advice do I have?

Since switching over from Qualys, we have seen no positive impacts for our organization other than being able to update the applications on an endpoint.

We haven't used Automox's reporting capabilities.

My experience with the pricing and licensing for Automox is good, and I think we got a pretty good deal. On a scale of 1 to 10 for how pricey Automox is, I would place it at a six.

Overall, I would rate Automox as 10 out of 10.

We are just clients of Automox, not partners or resellers.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Powerful and Flexible Patching

  • May 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Automox strikes a great balance between power and usability. The two standout features for me are Worklets and Patch Schedules. Worklets make it incredibly easy to automate complex configurations and remediations across platforms, while Patch Schedules allow precise control over when and how updates are applied—critical for minimizing business disruption. The UI is intuitive, and deployments are typically reliable and fast, even in remote environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
My main concern is with some of the reporting metrics—specifically around CVE exposure and time-to-remediate (TTR). For example, a critical vulnerability might show as “80 days exposed” in the dashboard, but that figure reflects the public discovery date, not when it was actually detected on the device. This can make it harder to evaluate internal performance and compliance. I’d also like to see more clarity or filters in vulnerability timelines. Lastly, while not entirely Automox’s fault, getting Apple M-Series devices into a patch-ready state takes extra manual steps, which adds to deployment friction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using a tool like Automox provides several key benefits to organizations looking to streamline endpoint management and improve security posture. First and foremost, Automox enables centralized, cross-platform patch management across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments—making it much easier to enforce consistent patching policies regardless of whether devices are on-premises or remote. This consolidation reduces the need for multiple tools and simplifies operational overhead.

Another standout benefit is the automation flexibility offered through Worklets. These customizable scripts allow IT and security teams to automate remediation, configuration changes, software installs, and even compliance enforcement. This capability significantly reduces manual intervention, enabling teams to respond quickly to emerging threats or system misconfigurations while adopting a more infrastructure-as-code approach to endpoint management.

Lastly, Automox enhances organizational visibility and reduces risk through real-time dashboards that track patch status, vulnerability exposure, and compliance levels. These insights allow teams to prioritize remediation based on CVSS scores or known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs), ultimately helping to shrink the attack surface and accelerate audit readiness. Together, these benefits make Automox a powerful solution for modern, security-conscious IT environments.
