Automox - The patch management solution you always needed
What do you like best about the product?
Automox is easy to use and allows you to patch common applications seamlessly.
What do you dislike about the product?
If an application is not on their supported list, it's a lot more difficult to patch because all the steps to identify the necessary configuration are manual.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox allows us to easily and automatically patch most of our common business applications without much of an IT overhead.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When considering all the other players in this space (and there aren't many!) Automox was the clear choice for ease of use and easy rollout.

Automox for patching
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Automox is multiplatform and offers a wide variety of packages including community sourced packages.
Their documentation is robust and makes it straightforward to look up how to do work necessary for implementation.
They are also very active on the MacAdmins community Slack answering questions from customers which is greatly appreciated.

What do you dislike about the product?
I think that their approach to macOS operating system patching, while pragmatic, does not align with recommended practices and adds unnecessary risk via additional Securetoken holding accounts on a device.
The way that they talk about patching compliance is very opinionated and I'd like to see them offer more flexibility to customers to gather up, for instance, all the Chrome installs to see what compliance looks like from that angle.
As currently implemented, it takes significant work to get the information I need out of the tool.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox is in our environment to specifically solve the problem of how we patch across both macOS & Windows endpoints without having to manage and build out separate tooling.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do a proof of concept and ensure all your reporting needs are met before implementing and signing a contract.
Great experience with light weight endpoint management
What do you like best about the product?
Low resource cost, ability to create and implement scripts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Needing to administrate it yourself; last I used, very few 'packages' available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems was installing software at scale.
I have enjoyed automox and using it and support has been very responsive when needed.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the support that is given. They help with things that are not technically automox problems. They are extremely responsive and their help with the api is amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really is not any dislike other than the fact that lately, they have had a rememberal number of unscheduled downtime issues. Not a huge number but it became concerning when I could recall that i happened before.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved general patching as well as software deployments. There most helpful things that they did was uninstall unneeded programs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of support response time.
The worklet enforcement to the endpoints sometimes taking too long.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Yes.
It has failed to impress so far.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use administrator console and fast cloud response times.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only a quarter of devices are patched and up to date. Not much to go on to troubleshoot the ones that are not updated
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nothing has been 'solved' per se. This solution was not implemented to solve a prior issue.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
No comment on recommending the product.
Automox makes patch night easier
What do you like best about the product?
I love that we can schedule patches using policies and groups. I love that we can install software via the Required Software page. I love that there is a worklet catalog.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that I can't export a device list. I don't like that I can't see what patches were recently applied to a device from the device page. Linux support is lacking. Rebooting after patching isn't reliable (or never happens) even though it is specified.
I don't like that we can't easily export a pre-patch report for a group or All Groups.
I particularly don't like that searches are automatically applied when changing filters on the left pane. I keep a bookmark with limited results, just so can switch around without automatically searching.
I don't like that clicking on a group from within a policy removes it even when you aren't clicking on the minus icon. I should be able to navigate to a group from a policy.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Patching servers is so much easier and makes a daunting task into a simple one. I feel like our company is safer and more secure by having regular patches done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate your options and choose the best service.
Some room for improvement but helpful
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility that worklets provide, as long as you know how to write them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Finding why an update failed isn't always easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying software, monitoring compliance rates, scheduling, etc.
Great product that lets you roll out mass updates and programs.
What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can roll out massive updates and choose when the system will restart.
Exploring the UI and setting up Notifications are easy.
All computer information is laid out in an easy-to-find manner.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was a little easier to roll out specific programs inside of Automox. You almost have to script everything to get what you need to be done which can make rolling out multiple programs time consuming. I also wish there was a way for all the applications to always install the newest version of an application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't have to deal with users not wanting to run updates and when a support ticket comes in I can see everything displayed in a great format from serial number to computer model.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to roll out mass updates and programs this is a product that could work for you.
