So much power yet still so accessible
What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can spend a few minutes in Retool as a non-engineer and still generate so much value for my team. It's easy to create entire dashboards and workflows, and you can make such impactful changes very easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Retool UX isn't perfect, and the application is still missing some functionality that would be super helpful. Thankfully, it provides so much easy to use, useful functionality that it's not a real problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've built an entire internal dashboard for our operations team to use. It plugs in with our database, so they can easily make changes to the underlying values, view certain cuts of data they want, or trigger events like API calls to other applications from within the dashboard. Retool saves a lot of time for our engineering team because now there's a whole application in Retool that does not have to be maintained by the engineering team.
Retool saves us a lot of time and effort. The more we use it, the more possibilities we see.
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature is without a doubt the extensive library of UI components. Literally anything we'd ever need is there, to use in our apps. Also there's no limit to the apps you can connect to. You can easily use the API connector to use any REST api with any kind of authentication and it just works! You can even do advanced paging if you want. If you can write Javascript, there are simply no limits. Even async/await works in the script editor, which is amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, when creating a small error in one of the script queries, the app bugs and crashes. The support team is immediately notified though, and stuff like that is fixed quick.
Also, combining multiple queries does get a bit unorganized or chaotic, if you go too far. But I guess that 's something you can solve by implementing an advanced query naming strategy and drawing out the app structure with all queries ahead of building in Retool.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are a lot of automation flows and dashboarding solutions where you just want to take that data, show the data and allow the user to do all kinds of stuff with it. We're developers; we are used to building front-ends. But nothing matches the speed of combining components to a full-fledged app as Retool. We managed to rebuild our internal invoicing app (loading timelogs into invoicing software to create invoices) in 4 times the original development time.
Save lot of time by using retool to develop your internal tools
What do you like best about the product?
- Integrations! I was able to connect will all the databases we are using. Even the one provided by AWS (Dynamodb).
- Drag and dropping UI elements also make the developing tools faster.
- Awesome support.

What do you dislike about the product?
The free version has only editor mode so I have to move to a paid plan to get preview mode. But hey, I am nitpicking here.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had to execute some queries upon customer request, Like making profile verified, etc. So we had to develop internal tools. This is where retool comes in handy. It hardly took 20 minutes to implement these tools
Saved us a LOT of development time
What do you like best about the product?
Retool allowed us to save a lot of development time. An "admin area" was on our roadmap and, after Retool, it was simply removed, because we were able to create every report that we need – and some basic actions like update or delete – directly from it's drag-and-drop interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Retool will be extremely limited if don't have coding skills. And, for MongoDB users, queries often get pretty complex, so you often get confused and it creates a "please don't touch this input code" culture.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We generate reports (with charts) directly from Retool, connection our MongoDB database to it. This would be way more difficult with "habitual coding" and use development time that is already difficult to get as a small company.
Easy, Efficient & Fun
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy & intuitive platform for creating meaningful internal apps.
Providing QA & product team with a lot of value with little effort.

What do you dislike about the product?
I've submitted a request a few months ago and after the initial response I haven't heard much.
I don't get updates on newest releases and added features nor knows where to look for them.

Saved us a TON of dev cycles - perfect solution for internal admin / analytics tools
What do you like best about the product?
Dev cycle speed is fantastic - we can have our users submit a feature request / UX issue on our admin tools and have the change deployed in a few minutes. Saves a ton of time vs. running our own builds.
What do you dislike about the product?
UX is still a tiny bit clunky - the submit-query-requery cycle can be a bit sluggish, but overall totally fine and I'm confident it will improve as they mature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fully runs our internal admin & analytics tools. We query our DBs directly and it's super fast and easy to build.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You'll need someone who understands SQL and Javascript to get maximum value (eg a dev), but they'll be happy and satisfied with how easy it is to make changes & deploy. MUCH better than spinning up our own server /UI for an internal app.
GREAT app for quick admin tool and support for small startup
What do you like best about the product?
that connection to the different query like MongoDB, rest API and etc.
it lets us pull and set data .also if we didn't implement the API.
fast and easy

What do you dislike about the product?
cannot set the brand color, in the components.
missing video and image gallery that was saving time to implement a support feature.

Makes life easier
What do you like best about the product?
Retool is a great resource to build quick internal tools that help us in all aspects of managing the operations (for customer success teams) as well as for quick validation and prototyping (for developers). We use Retool extensively at Airbase and have built tools of all levels of sophistication. It does make life easy!
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation can be improved to provide more clarity
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are building various internal tools for different set of teams including sales, customer success, engineering and product. The tools help us in managing internal operations as well as testing/validating ideas for developers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It really does make life easier if you need to build simple tools and automate some of the tasks that are often required.
Great tool for internal dashboards and tools
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is very simple and modern to use.. even though I'm not a front-end developer I was able to develop internal apps very easily. The support team is also responsive and there's a great community on the forum.
What do you dislike about the product?
We'll need more components on the UI or more examples on how to develop custom components. More flexibility with the tables would be good too.. but I understand that there's a trade-off there and each use-case is unique.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using Retool for internal operations, data entry, customer relationship management. CMS.
Great platform for prototypes and tool building
What do you like best about the product?
Retool offers a straightforward platform to build pages, where users can easily drag and drop customizable frontend components and with some coding, wire them all together to form your final product. Retool is built for internal tools and dashboards, but it is not limited to only doing that. The thing I liked best about Retool is the flexibility of the platform and the level of technical support you would get as a user. The platform offers many pre-existing connectors to external resources, such as Salesforce, Mongo, Stripe, and many more. It will take you a while to getting the setup right, but once it's set properly, you can easily build a tool in days.
The technical support team is what I wanted to highlight at Retool. The team consists of custom-oriented engineers that focus on meeting your needs. They listen to your questions and provide suitable solutions for most of them. For the ones that cannot be resolved immediately, the escalation chain up to their engineering team is also very transparent, where you can expect their team to respond with a very detailed explanation of the root cause and what they have done to fix it - in a very timely manner!

What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downside of Retool right now is the lack of transparency of what features they are actively developing. So in short, a product roadmap would be ideal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Productivity problems are being solved using Retool. The benefits of Retool are the ease of use and the ability to allow developers to work on what matters most and not worry about frontend dependencies.
