I can rest well at night
What do you like best about the product?
We primary use Proofpoint for encrypting and Regulatory Compliance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation in the web interface is not ideal. Easy to get lost and have to open and close menus to see all options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No issues. Do wait to the last minute to renew your subscriptions. When the subscription expires, you are down and it is not a fast process to restore. Almost 5 days of downtime.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once setup and configured, you can rest happy knowing you have this layer.

Does a great job at protecting all email threats
What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint protects against every type of email threats I know of. I am truly impressed by it's capabilities to guard against everything from viruses to spoofed email and they are constantly adding new capabilities to help protect your organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing that I struggle with is navigation on the Proofpoint Protect web interface. Maybe it's because they have so many features built into it that it becomes difficult to remember where everything is at.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Proofpoint is protecting us against email malware, including spoofed email which has affected us in the past.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would strongly recommend Proofpoint due to their product and their support.
Best in Class
What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint's Email security solution has improved the the overall experience of our email users. The difference between the previous solution we had to now if like night and day. The flexibility of the product and depth of options allows us to do just about anything that is asked of us to protect our environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Bounce Management is a feature that provides no value and I have been told by support that it should not be used at all. If that truly is the case, then why not remove if from the interface?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Virus infections are literally non existent in our environment. The time that users used to spend on going through SPAM has gone down considerably, Overall this product gives back time to both users and analysts that would have to deal with email infections, SPAM, and malware.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get a lab environment instance of the product in addition to your production instance. This allows you to test rules and not impact production.
Email Security at Its Finest
What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint Email Security and Protection provides granular control to email administrators with policies and rules. Proofpoint Protection includes machine-learning to quickly adapt to threats.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Proofpoint administration interface can be improved and updated with easier navigation, for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To safeguard our end users from harmful and malicious emails where it can trick them into clicking on phishing links or open malware attachments.
Superb Spam Filtering and Email Protection
What do you like best about the product?
Our previous product needed a lot of management to adjust for false positives\negatives, but with Proofpoint this has dropped dramatically. There are occasionally some emails that we need to submit, but it is less than once a month. The other key feature is the URL rewrite. We have seen a major uptick in legitimate, external email accounts being compromised and sending us emails with malicious links in them. With the URL redirect, if the users clicks the link, they are sent to a Proofpoint block page. This prevents them from accessing malicious links.
What do you dislike about the product?
By default, the system sets up to install updates and upgrades automatically. This can be problematic since they may happen during the day and in those instances where it reboots the master, users lose access to their person web interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have seen increased security from malicious and phishing emails. Particularly with the URL rewrite and TAP defense. The TAP defense alerts us if a link is found to be malicious after it has passed through the system and which users have clicked on it. This allows us to be proactive in checking with those users to see if they entered any credentials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While more expensive, I would definately purchase the after hours support. Email is critical to most businesses and there have been a few issues that required after hours attention.

What do you like best about the product?
Its does what it's design to do really well. The support team is on point. they are always willing to help and have always resolved my every issue 98% on the first call.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to dislike. The product just works. The more we use the product the more we learn what it can do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mail Security. Reducing spam, attacks as well as the secure encryption feature. Checks agains bad urls. Helps against e-mail spoof.

Trial the product before you go with another platform. You will not be disappointed.
Does exactly as advertised...and then some!
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to fine tune just about any setting I want. Typical sendmail settings can be configured easily through the GUI which is a shortcoming of other vendors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Searching through and viewing results of the logs to find an e-mail event is very painful, especially if you have to check the box for "include old logs". Even though your browser can display many characters per line, for whatever reason the GUI truncates each line at a certain (few) amount of characters making reviewing logs very difficult
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to confidently deploy a solution that was much better than our former product (McAfee Email Gateway). We are no longer monitoring attachments as they come in to our environment like we had to do with McAfee because the trust with Proofpoint is there.
Very Effective Email Security Platform
What do you like best about the product?
ProofPoint Email Security and Protection is very efficient in stopping malicious emails into our network. The system had about a 99% effective rate and preventing malicious emails. Every once in a while we will see zero-day type attacks that may slip through, however, we sent all email headers to PP through audit and it seems that they update the signatures very fast that usually by the end of the day those same type emails are being quarantined. The ability to manage quarantine queues is very easy once you have the rules established and email filtering to the proper queues. We love the ability to set up queues that have filtered email that at 99.9999% junk to be able to delete those emails automatically after being quarantined after a number of specified days. This helps alleviate the number of emails that our support staff have to review to release of delete.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dislike the ability to download plugins (spam and encryption) from the support site without having to log a case with support who then takes days sometimes weeks to figure out what it is that you are requesting. You should be able to download plugins and software from the support site on your own with a valid contract.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy of filtering and managing suspicious email entering our network as well as preventing sensitive data from leaving our network via email (DLP).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This solution has met our needs very effectively. Though adding on additional features can be very costly like Advanced Threat Protection which costs just as much as the main system ProofPoint Email Security and Protection.

What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint's Email protection suite is organized in a modular configuration, offering the ability to add and remove components as needed, which also helps with overall pricing. We've been using the core anti-spam/virus, dynamic reputation and the advanced threat protection services. The services in general offer a high level of protection against e-mail based threats with very high accuracy rates and minimal false positives. The services are highly configurable giving you the ability to tailor policies/rules to match your organizations policies. This is also a highly stable platform with the ability to easily scale the platform to meet ones given performance requirements. Proofpoint also offers some of the best support in the industry for their product.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's really not a lot to dislike with this product, short of possibly negotiating a reasonable price for the product. Having said that, Proofpoint has been pretty flexible in working with us to stay within our budget constraints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Given that e-mail originating attacks are some of the most successful attacks these days, it really boils to preventing viruses/malware/ransomware and so from getting to our clients systems. From a day to day perspective this translates to less time spent dealing with compromised systems, fewer support calls and a lower risk of data leakage. Proofpoint's services are extremely reliable and accurate which allows us to focus on our jobs and not have to incur the overhead of dealing the results of under performing products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would highly recommend for a number of reasons. The visibility and insights into your mail flow provided by the product is excellent, reducing the amount of time to identify/resolve most issues. The level of accuracy with the product is high, reducing the number of support calls. If there are problems, the support offered is some of the best in the industry.
Proofpoint Email Security and Protection
What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint is a mature email security solution to protect your company from malicious emails and unwanted SPAM, with the ability to fine tune rules to suit your needs. The administrator portal is easy to use and there are continual updates to the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike really - perhaps a bit challenging with the safelisting email services such as Marketo, Mailchimp, etc (that isn't a specific issue with this vendor, it would affect all vendors).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email is a common vector for attacks now, with phishing, malware, etc, and it's important to have a good solution in place to filter out unwanted email (while allowing the required email)
