A great tool for collaborative project managers
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Asana uses the PMI standards and the common vocabulary used from project management. Teams with varying level of project management experience are able to quickly get up to speed on the terminology. The task list is great for clarifying specific responsibilities
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana doesn't leave a lot of room for flexibility - especially with projects that are prone to change suddenly in scale or scope.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm often struggling to manage numerous projects at various stages of development with team members that have significantly different levels of involvement. It does a great job of accommodating everyone - from team members that tend to be focused on the granular details of implementation to those that just want to be sure that the project is on track.
Useful but not necessary
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to set up tasks and goals and to track them. The calendar view is very useful to know when things are due, and lets you get organized easily. It's also easy to have goals checked completed and assign goals and tasks to team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not well organized if you have multiple companies and multiple tasks in each company. It works well for single projects, but I need a tool that can help me organize across many projects from different enterprises.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization and assignment of tasks for each team member. Tracking of milestones and seeing them in a calendar to make sure we complete deadlines is one thing we did accomplish. It also makes it easy to figure out who is doing what and who is responsible for the tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Trello
Asana is great for teams - if the team is your main priority.
What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like best about Asana is that it keeps all correspondence in one place. It's easy to check what my teammates are saying and have everything that we need to work on something easily accessible. It's much more time-saving than email and is built with a singular goal in mind which means it's much better at achieving that goal than more general applications like email.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the inbox function, I wish it worked more like an email inbox - showing you new correspondence instead of making you click in to the project to read everything that's happening. I also dislike the layout just a bit. For some reason the dark layout and multiple task bars hasn't quite clicked as enjoyable for me yet. I would prefer to land in my inbox - something with a few highlighted notes and then have the option to hop over to my dashboard if I wanted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana improves business efficiency by keeping all team players on the same page, cutting down on time sifting through email chains and potentially missing key info.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is great for working remotely as a team. I only work as part of a team for about 10% of my freelance workload, so the admin of asana can be an extra task, but if your full-time job is working on creative or production tasks as a team this is a great tool.
Useful - For pretty much everything.
What do you like best about the product?
Whether you're a one-man band doing cosmetics, like me, or looking to sort out home organisation or even large scale projects - Asana is where it's at.
Easy to use, multiple layout options!
Easy to use, multiple layout options!
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of customisation, really. It could use with a little more user-specific input and notation spaces.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It really helps with stock management and my production line. It keeps my INCI and formulae centralised.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's ten times better than other similar items - Asana is a really good all-in-one package which doesn't disappoint.
Does the trick, but frustrating!
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is collaborative. My favorite features are the ability to add followers to any task, set up a project and have followers of the entire project plus multiple tasks and a timeline, can add a date range instead of a due date, and the ability to @someone in comments or notes. It's pretty handy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is not particularly user-friendly. Because it's not the most intuitive, it's easy to end up using it as a glorified to-do list. If following a task, you receive an email for every single minor change to the task. Things aren't where you would think they should be - right click is not a feature so you have to dig to do something simple like delete a task. You get used to it but the interface feels antiquated. It's more like a software program to cover yourself than a software program to keep a project flowing, And you can't assign one task to multiple people (i.e. if I need 3 people to proofread a document I have to create a task then copy and assign it to the other 2 people)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, task ownership, accountability, to-do lists
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a shot - it has hiccups but it does the job and is reliable.
Decent
What do you like best about the product?
It is an application that allows me to organize the occasional meeting with sales colleagues, but of course I would prefer another application. I liked this one in the sense that it is much simpler than others, but I don't find it at all pleasant that the company has to spend money on organizing internal meetings between colleagues from the same department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Above all, the price is too high for what it offers. If they lowered the price, maybe, just maybe, in the future we would consider using this application in our company for internal matters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I help the newcomers who had no idea how to make a plan, for example, for meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The price is high for an application that only allows us to organize meetings; otherwise, the interface is very simple. Let's say that even a person with no computer experience could understand it, but of course, I like other applications more. However, it's the one we've been working with lately in the company.
Great Tool for Small Teams
What do you like best about the product?
I like how user friendly the UI is and all of the product guides were super intuitive and quick. I was able to get my account and immediately generate todo lists for myself and my team. Then using their guides and videos become an expert at building my Kanban board for each project and organize all my sub tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like how a gantt chart is an add on, I also do not like how when someone creates a task but doesnt assign a due date its hard for me to track down how long a task was created for and have those populate a sheet or an area so that i can make sure people put due dates to their tasks and we dont forget about them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are doing project management and team management. The benefit is that we can go from 0 task management and project management to a pretty simple solution in only a few hours.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a small team its a great tool but if you are looking for a full blown project management solution Asana doesnt come with all the bells and whistles you might be expecting.
Good for a small business
What do you like best about the product?
This project has helped keep our different teams in sync by seeing what goes on from department to department, and where current projects are as far as completion schedules are concerned.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our small business is older and has a tendency to rely on old habits and the mantra "If it's not broken, don't fix it." Transitioning to Asana from the old standard (e-mail) has been a bit of a hassle but we see the benefits long term in using a site like this to help streamline communication in a more organized fashion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instead of e-mailing questions to one another about project status, we can just login to Asana and get real time updates from different departments. Our waterjet operator has chosen to implement this means of communication and we've already seen great rewards from switching over (and he's much happier not answering a million emails a day!)
Nice product with rich and advance features
What do you like best about the product?
It is a good product that includes all features ranging from basic level .to advance level that are required in products under the category. Also its easy to use for all users. It makes the life easier to a much extent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although its a nice product , but still it lacks in some areas like there are somethings that can be improved like its UI and UX can be more easier and loading of the pages and navigation among the .different screens in the tool can be made faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been using the product for some time in my work place. It has made the life easier and management of the projects and tasks has been much easier.
Love Asana. Very flexible. Feels right for any project.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the new charting / dependency tools. I love the easy to user interface. Everything is very well thought out and intuitive to grasp. The help videos and blogs are fantastic and make this an easy to pick up system.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how subtasks/sub-subtasks get lost for daily workers. For example. The primary task when visiting a project is assigned to a project lead such as finish Services website pages. Now we have sub tasks such as create content and find images. Within those sub tasks we have tens of sub-subtasks. Assigning each image or each page of content to a specific person. When I come to a project, the view presented gives me no indication that I have work to do on the main task. I spend tons of time jacking with searches and filters to find my work. I have hundreds of things assigned to me at any given moment. Sorting my tasks by project results in tons of traversing up the tasks tree to understand the context of the assignment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization. Communication. Status Updates without interrupting work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great tool. You get into it what you get out of it. When you scale an organization and/or work on huge projects you need to remember asana doesn't replace project administration. It assists it like a precision tool. You have to have a plan of how to structure and implement the project in Asana prior to the project. Get your team trained early.
