Good for collaboration, but not enough tiers
What do you like best about the product?
It's very helpful being able to see which members of my team are working on which aspects of a project at what time, and I appreciate the feature that allows me to reassign a task to another team member once I've completed my own portion of it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could break tasks down by another level or two. I need to get more granular with my to-do lists and would appreciate being able to check off smaller, short-term tasks rather than personally keeping track of the smaller subtasks that go into a larger one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our process is very much a unidirectional flow and therefore being able to pass tasks off between team members is very valuable. It keeps the work moving smoothly and seamlessly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've also used Trello, which is more helpful in its ability to really break down tasks, but the free version is less helpful than Asana's free version in terms of team collaboration.
Good for Group Work--Bad for Calendaring
What do you like best about the product?
I like the interface--I like the ability to create and assign tasks & the flexibility to edit the tasks after their supposed completion date--like passing them off to other team members or giving yourself a followup or additional task to complete in order to finish a task.
I also like the ability to write notes to team members on tasks.
This is really a perfect application to use for group work.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wanted an easier way to create a group calendar that would allow all of the members of the team to add and see what the whole team has going on. It was hard and a little confusing to add already existing calendars from other applications into the system & it was a little buggy. We also didn't get notifications about the calendar as we did with the tasks.
Also--There is in INSANE amount of notification emails. It is adjustable-- but the default is getting mulitple emails a day.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We tried to use this application to create a singular cohesive calendar that is shared by multiple team members with different meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great application to communicate with team members while working on tasks toward a single or multiple goals.
Good software for managing team projects
What do you like best about the product?
Asana has so great features (honestly it has SO MANY feature im not sure I even utilize them all, but I really like that it allows multiple projects with multiple team members. I also like that you can tag team members in task under comment. Overall it is very helpful in keeping track of everything.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is overwhelming to use because it has so many features. Not for someone wanting something some to manage a couple projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allow easy communication across teams in regards to multiple projects, and it keeps everything under one platform. Helping eliminate a "data silo" situation.
Solid Project Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ability to create different teams and different projects. Great way for dividing up work and keeping teams who work on projects together organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish it was easier to control who is allowed to assign tasks - sometimes the project owner should be the only one assigning tasks. Also, being able to edit documents within the program would be helpful - the last time I used, you can share documents, but you have to download edit and re-upload. This can create confusing with multiple docs in the program. To work around, my company used google docs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of tasks for diverse projects when multiple members from different teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Initial set up and implementation is key. Making sure everyone in your organization understands how to use the program is important. It is also important that everyone switches to using the program at the same time. We experienced issues when only some departments were fully using, creating confusion for whether or not tasks were getting completed, read, or assigned.
Fulfills base requirements for project management
What do you like best about the product?
The fact this its a no-frills project management tool and has user friendly navigation. But I can make it fun by adding a theme!
Ability to comment on current tasks, feature of liking certain comments.
Ability to see all teams, and task pipeline in one scrollable feature

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the no-frills UI seems to basic. There is no way to implement a form like interface for adding individual tasks. For example, for every task added I need the task to describe 1. what 2. how and 3. caveats - compulsorily. Otherwise it dominoes into more comments asking for more/less info etc.
Inability for the task window to pop-out of the right oriented navigation window. Sometimes the comments are lengthy and contributed by multiple members and its inconvenient to keep scrolling the small right side window.
No gmail or outlook email integration available. Would like to have it as an extension so that we're able to connect to relevant emails or email from within Asana app after attaching the task readily without having to download it and attach.

Project Management by streamlining task flows.
Updating everyone on the team of current project pipelines

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very basic project management tool.
Great product (if people are willing to use it)
What do you like best about the product?
Asana definitely feels like it makes sense. It is pretty intuitive and easy to use. The design looks sleek and has some really fun features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using Asana can feel tedious. It is great to have a place to document the process, but sometimes I feel like it just takes too long. There are always extra little things that take up time, and it is easy to drop the ball on my documentation in Asana. Once I get too far behind, the documentation becomes a little bit useless, and it becomes a "check the boxes" type of activity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is helpful in coordinating projects where multiple people are expected to contribute with different deadlines. It can also be useful for process documentation so that there is an easy place to find notes on recurring projects, such as annual reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about why you want this type of product, what you hope to get out of it, and what expectations exist for each user.
Great for small teams
What do you like best about the product?
The clean interface and the list view for writing and sorting tasks is one of the simplest I've used. I like how the team calendar and the ability to colour code different projects. Recurring tasks are great for meeting agendas as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
We currently use the free version, which limits our abilities to project plan. Mainly, the lack of start dates and dependant tasks. A gantt view would also be a nice feature to have. I also believe that being able to assign tasks to more than one person would be a useful feature. You can add followers to a task, or create subtasks, but assign due dates for projects and meeting schedules are areas that require more than one assignee.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a small team of 5 creative and marketers running an in-house agency. We appreciate the ability to place high level task quickly and easily. A big deciding factor for our team was that none of us wanted to add more admin tasks to our workload. We don't use Asana for true time management, but it is a great tool to ensure that everyone team member is on the same page and has visibility to all projects coming down the pipeline. We also have two teams with overlapping members - being able to categorize projects by team (i.e. department) has been useful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are other project management programs that are more robust than Asana, but this is a great, straight forward PM software for teams that need high level visibility and less time/task management.
Intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can assign task to your team members and the possibilty to tick off the completed task. It's good to keep track of objectives or project stages. It's also great to be able to word search the whole system - it's very handy as you may not remember where the information is stored.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes can come across as a bit fiddly, or just a very advanced to do list. I think it could be that I'm not aware of all the functionalities the software offers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organisation and project management - saves us a lot of email back and forth to set projects up, and keep track of who is meant to be doing what. It's a one stop shop.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Everyone needs to be fully "Onboard" and keen to use it for it to deliver its full potential
Lots of features for a busy team.
What do you like best about the product?
I like that everything my team has going on gets recorded in this software. It gets really stressful wondering where a project is, or if I assigned it, or if the person got the assignment - with Asana and everyone going to the same place to collaborate, nothing gets missed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve how everyone should use it can get a little confusing. It would be great to have several tutorials on how to best organize work assignments within Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confusion around assignments and project status are greatly reduced because of using Asana with my team. The fact that I can not only assign projects and tasks, but also maintain a dialogue with everyone involved in that project helps a lot.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking to simplify and de-stress your project management with multiple employees/IC's, then Asana is a great place to start.
A great individual task manager
What do you like best about the product?
With Asana, I found a way to put all my ideas and to-do tasks, prioritize them and organize my days at work.
Every single time I have an idea, I use the mobile app, add a task and then prioritize it later when I will go over all the new tasks. When I am at work, I can see all the important things I have to do during my day and what I prioritized for the whole week.
It helps me organize my personal tasks and serves as a reminder.

What do you dislike about the product?
However, as it is designed for, I do not use Asana to organize and follow up on our business projects. I find the menu navigation difficult to understand and I'm often lost.
Asana is too simple to use for ou tech team so we preferred to go for an agile dev tool.
The sharing of some tasks is not very user-friendly. And when a task is assigned to me, it is lost among all the due tasks reminded in my inbox.
As for my individual tasks, I would have liked to be able to personalize the categories (new, today, upcoming, later) and give them the names that I want to. Finally, it would be so much easier if the tasks could reorganize themselves when I affect a due date to them.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Asana, I'm basically solving an individual problem which is the organization of my daily tasks. Since some of my colleagues use it as well, we sometimes share some tasks. But Asana has never been a business task manager.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a personal task manager which allows you to add descriptions, insights and sub-tasks, this is the one.
If you are looking for a business task manager, I would recommend Asana if you are a small company or work non-tech projects.
