Asana helps me track and reach more goals than ever before

  • June 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a business that focuses on getting the user experience right for its users. As a User Experience Designer, I'm often inspired by the simplicity of Asana. They make it so easy to organize everything about your work into doable chunks, so I can continue to make progress towards much bigger goals.

We also use Portfolio quite often to track capacity in the department. Because the whole team tracks their estimated hours, Portfolio is updated in real-time. This eliminates the need to check in with the team and wait for a manual response to "Who's got the capacity to take on this task?"
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't something about Asana that I dislike. They push updates to the system consistently that further enhance the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps me keep track of the goals I'd like to achieve. The interface makes it easy to set big goals for myself, and then break it down into smaller achievable bits. By using Asana as my primary workflow organizer, I manage to get so much more done, compared to the days where I used to have notebooks as to-do lists. In Asana, my notes are all organized into the relevant tasks, which ensures that nothing slips through the cracks. Asana helps me to bring my A-game to work.

Asana has been a game changer for me and my colleagues for over 2+ years!

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has not only streamlined our workflows and tasks but also our communication between teams with a whole another level of organized and tracking. Getting away from email is one of the best moves you could do for a team within an office space or remotely as our team is. Tasks with assignees and due dates give accountability to co-workers involved but also visibility to other teams and managers. I even love to use their mobile app for one-off ideas for tasks to look into when I'm back at my computer or even to reply to someone to keep the ball rolling on a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, this is the hardest question because usually when I find myself with an issue Asana training guides or support usually resolve our needs. Maybe an option where we can add seats for one user/seat at a time and not have to buy in sets of 5 or more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating projects, tasks, and processes through Asana to ensure current and new Google & Facebook ad account launch and maintained for consistency, efficiency, and the prevention of errors for quality assurance.

Asana is excellent for small teams to coordinate without missing a beat.

What do you like best about the product?
My team primarily uses the boards and timelines to view projects. These two views are really helpful for seeing your project at a glance. The timeline in particular is really helpful for me as a research coordinator, because I can see dependencies and what might be coming down the road that needs our attention.
I also really love the Progress screen for really highlighting where we are with a project. I use this to celebrate what we've accomplished, give updates that may not be attached to a specific task, and throw up a flag when something is rapidly coming due. It limits surprises and forces us all onto the same page each week.
What do you dislike about the product?
The first problem that we encountered was getting the whole team onboard with using it. For Asana to work, it ALL has to be in there--no scribbled notes on a notepad and a one-off email. Everything has to come back so that the content is consistently updated. My team was more used to a pen/paper to-do list and email conversations for every task, so there's been an adjustment period. We've still had a lot of success, but has required a little extra effort on my part.
We've also felt that some of the built-in options just aren't varied enough to capture our projects. For instance, while I love the Progress screen, it is frustrating that there is no way to indicate that a project is on-hold (a MUST for us during the pandemic!).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One benefit I didn't expect was how great it's been personally too. I have an account for work and then a linked account that is just my partner and I. We use it to plan meals, make our grocery lists, and we're even using it to keep organized as we're purchasing our first house!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a very robust online community and certification courses to help get your team rolling if you choose Asana. I took all the courses to become an asana ambassador because it gave me what I needed to really explain how to use it to the rest of my team.

What do you like best about the product?
The portfolio feature that shows the users the healthy level of the projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
No place to document stuff other than linking to google drive and some other third party tools
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting collaborators report in one single place of truth.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just go for business plan

Great tool with excelent user expirience

What do you like best about the product?
Almost everything - but the best part is that you can use Asana as simple todoist or very powerful tool for large cooperative teams (end every use between). It is very flexible and scalable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly I don't like calendar view (my task, project etc) end left panel tree could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
First of all I cleared my list of tasks and mails to do but this was just the begining. I use Asana more frequently than mail. I use it for evertything - from list of books-to-read to sales teams coordination (crm), from private list of receipes to technical support requests.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You have find one or few leaders who first will love Asana - and then let them spread it. We started from meetings and follow ups - that was good step to.

Business critical collaboration enablement

What do you like best about the product?
Asana (Business tier) has enabled our team to greatly improve our intake process (forms and rules) and process management (template projects and portfolios). We love how quickly new team members can get up to speed, and we love how the integrations effectively move tasks from our communication tools (GMail and Slack).
What do you dislike about the product?
We'd like to see a PDF export option for timelines, a dark mode option, and a standalone desktop app. With the speed of innovation and improvements though, we're confident that these will come in time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana from very small project initiatives, to organization-wide project management. Asana has given us a tool to ensure that priorities are clear and the work is being tracked against those priorities. By getting our whole team on board, we know that we're all rowing in the same direction and have access to the same information, resources, and status.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana's support and community forum teams are incredible, and the product team has been very responsive to customer needs. There's so much innovation happening right now, so if it doesn't seem like it meets your needs now, it very well may soon.

Asana is a wonderful Project Management Tool

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the functionality of Asana. I am able to flawlessly plan and schedule just about anything. It is not overwhelming and can be learned through their amazing tutorials. You can easily assign due dates and people within your team. You can invite guests at no additional cost which is nice when working with temporary employees.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that there are not a lot of colors available to use when labeling. It could stand to have better customization options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving the problem of having a million to do lists in a million different places. Everything is under one roof and things are getting missed less. I am able to keep track of daily tasks and keep the team appraised on all updates as needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a smaller team looking to start with a project management tool I would highly recommend Asana. It is easy to use and not overwhelming like some other project management tools on the market. It does offer quite a bit in the free version as well so you can get a feel for it before investing in it.

Asana's Biggest Fan!

What do you like best about the product?
Literally everything... It's made our entire workflow more organized and easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any issues we've had tend to get fixed in future updates!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage a complicated workflow of brief intake from 20+ stakeholders around the globe to manage the workload of an internal 10 person creative team. We use Asana to track the entire workflow, including reviews, approvals, deliverable timelines, and more. It has solved many problems around visibility into timing, progress, and removed the one-off emails and Slacks for reviewing things. If I could make everyone at my company only use Asana and nothing else to communicate, I would!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend. Spend some time learning the tool; it's super easy and user friendly. You will love it!!
