Ideal Solution for Task Management

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Asana's workload feature daily to help me ensure that my team is balanced and no one is over or under-booked with work. I cannot overstate how AMAZING this has been to see and predict team capacity!

I also love the simplicity of the My Tasks list to help me stay focused on what I need to accomplish each day/week. I also love that you can see projects by timeline, list, or Kanban board - our team has really appreciated this since they all process information differently.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I love the rules feature, I wish there were more options for triggers and actions based on custom field. The reporting has come a long way in the last year but feels like there is still work to be done. I'm glad to see things are continuing to improve with the tool and more features are being released regularly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has helped our team stay in the loop on all active client work. Our handoffs have improved greatly since using Asana! We've been able to see all work more clearly and estimate work effort so that we can assign tasks with more confidence. We've also integrated with Harvest to allow for more efficient time tracking through Asana. Our team loves being able to do everything through one tool!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just get started with it! Their tiers allow the system to grow with you - you can start at a free account to test things out and then take advantage of the 30-day trials for the upgraded tiers - we've gone from Premium to Business in just a year, but we did it gradually and implemented the change over time. Asana support was always helpful as we would go through the process to make sure we were ready for the next level. I'm even working with one of our client to help implement Asana as their PM tool after they saw how efficient and productive we were with it.

Intuitive, Powerful, and Fun

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana's clean and intuitive design allows your entire company to begin using it from day 1. It's easy to figure out how to steer around inside Asana and how to make the app work for you. It's a very elegantly designed interface and extremely powerful. Being able to use boards or lists and switch between these formats is hugely helpful and is just one of its many opportunities for customization so that each user feels they can set it up to their liking. Parsing information, discussing information, and holding information in one place as a matter of record is critical in project management and Asana gracefully allows you to do just that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functions require more clicks than I would want, but I understand that it's a mechanism to avoid accidental deletes, for example. I appreciate that the team is always improving and tweaking features. Several things I found cumbersome when I started using Asana two years ago are long-gone because of constant updates and developer improvements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping our entire office focused on a variety of concurrent projects which run over months and years is easy with Asana. Course-correcting on a project and having all of the information associated with it in one place is priceless for our time and sanity. Asana removes friction from our interactions within our office and with outside customers and stakeholders. Less friction = less stress for all involved.

Asana is my customizable dream PM software

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Asana is how customizable it is. My agency has very unique internal processes that don't fit into most templates so the fact that we could tailor Asana to that process has been really, really helpful. I also love the Asana brand. I've used and looked at other project management software and I didn't think any of them had a strong visual or messaging brand. Asana makes things that could be quite boring, exciting. I love the new appreciations feature and the creatures that fly across the screen when you complete a task.
What do you dislike about the product?
I miss the ability to archive a notification in your inbox by hovering over the right side of the box and clicking the X that appeared on the desktop. The nice part about that was that it increased the clickable area allowing the user to click wherever the mouse is located to quickly triage and clear out unimportant notifications. I know there is “filing” archive icon in the bottom right of the notification but it’s a smaller clickable area which is slightly annoying. In the grand scheme, not that big of an issue. But something I find slightly annoying as I’m trying to archive things (when not using a keyboard shortcut).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana as our main means of communication with our internal team, as well as our clients, so it allows us to all stay on the same page and complete everything we need to on time.

An easy and customizable solution for project managers!

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how customizable Asana is! There are a lot of nuances and complexities to our workflow, so it's great that we can structure our Asana projects and tasks to be most efficient and effective! As a creative project manager, I am managing the multiple projects, work streams and individual workloads. Each team and each person has a different way of working so I love that an Asana task can live on multiple projects and that we can create rules to automate repeatable steps!
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing major I dislike about Asana. It's a great tool that can be as simple or as complex as you need it to be and there's almost always a solution to functionality roadblocks that we run into. If I had to name something, I'd say resource planning and workload management would be a very helpful feature to help build out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having high level (and detailed) visibility into the workflow and status of our projects was pretty much impossible with our old project management tool. Work was happening in silos and it was hard to keep track of the status of a project. Asana has helped to bring together not just individuals on our team, but has improved cross-functional communication and collaboration!

Asana Review from an accounting firm

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We like that Asana lets us see what tasks need done in an orderly fashion. We can see our monthly clients tasks on a calendar view, which allows us to plan special projects during slower times of the month. It also helps management see what staff is working on and what their workload looks like. Since we are a client based job, sometimes things need to be shifted due to not having information, using the calander view makes it easy to see when we will have open time for those tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only big downside to Asana is that since we have monthly clients we select to repeat on certain days, Those days sometimes fall on the weekends and we have to go in and manually move those tasks to a week day. It would be nice to have a no weekends button and that changes those tasks to weekdays.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inside of just using excel to keep the task we have a way to monitor where we are at and what tasks have been completed in an easy manner. We can easily adjust work flows and tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great tool to help organize and manage your workload! Its quick and easy set up and use makes it easy to use.

Sometimes it duplicate task with no reason
It does not offer a desktop app

Creatives get organized!

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This software is very easy and intuitive to use. We have a small creative team and it's rare to implement a software that everyone will buy into using and totally be on board.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have been using it for around 6 months and haven't run into any issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Putting into place a structure in a creative environment where everyone wants to do it their own way. Asana has provided a platform where everyone knows the status of the projects and will enter the data because it's straight forward and easy to use! It has worked out even better than expected as everyone was working remotely.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think long-term needs and think growth. Also, keep the bottomline expense in mind for what that will look like in 3 to 5 years from now.

Asana as my go to when managing projects

  • June 09, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a project-based platform, I can create tasks, assign them, mark the status of each, and add collaborators to it. The board view is ideal to glance at the journey of the project.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think is it a great software when it comes down to tracking and managing projects, I would probably add more tools to sort of graph some quick data, but overall I think the platform is great as is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing projects.
The benefit is that everyone who is working on it can focus on their immediate tasks while having access to see the bigger picture.
Communication is great, as every time I want to notify other users of updates and such I can do it directly from the platform, by tagging them on my comments
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This platform is great when considering lists to boards, calendars, charts, and overall project management that allows you to see who is doing a collaboration, and the status of each stage on the project.
