Asana is a helpful project management tool

  • October 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a ton of options, which means it's very customizable - you can do a LOT with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The many options of Asana mean that it has somewhat of a steep learning curve. I also find that it's a little different from other project management tools that I've used in the past, so that experience hasn't really carried over.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The company I'm working with right now is managing several different projects that I'm working on, with a handful of stakeholders and developers on all of the projects. It's very easy to switch between projects, look at all of your projects, and move seamlessly between tickets. This is great, because from my developer point of view, the delineation of projects is meaningless.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are a lot of project management tools out there - I have used so many. Make sure you know what your team needs and what the tool can deliver to you.

Asana Rocks!

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to use and all communication and files are kept in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are soooo many features it is hard to learn them all and keep track of them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is great because I can interact and communicate with people who are remote or in different offices around the world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Talk to an Asana rep, they are extremely helpful

Great for project management for a large organization with a lot of moving parts.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy for task management. Visual timeline is amazing. Setting due dates and being able to tag the progress of projects in a highly visible way is extremely helpful. Also love the flying unicorns with a completed task. :)
What do you dislike about the product?
The notification page can be kind of confusing, and it's easy to miss some things that slip by. Also, it would be nice to be able to add multiple collaborators to one task vs. just adding them as followers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps our organization stay organized in the middle of large campaigns with multiple print, deign, marketing, and video piece. It also helps bring clarity to who is owning each project, and keeps track of details spoken about in meetings with the client each project serves.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Come up with an adequate submission and tagging system for new projects that come in to save you some work on the front end.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that email forwarding works for subscribers and clients who may not employ the service in their company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the limited options for sprints
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task assignments and project updates. Fielding issues from outside companies

Finally a Project Management App I Love

  • October 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can really customize my needs with Asana. I can keep track of the different projects I am working on, subcategories within those projects, and even subgroups/tasks within those subcategories! I love how detailed I can get.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana may be challenging to someone who needs a very simple project management tool without all of the 'bells and whistles'.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I do sales and was in need of a tool where I could keep track of leads, info about customers, and have a "due date" feature that I could use to remind me of my follow up calls. Asana has all of these needs plus more!

Good tool for keeping teams organized

  • October 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s really helped our work team get more organized and has a lot of options for personalization flexibility. Also seems like they are consistently working to make upgrades and solve functionality issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few things that don’t work well like exporting and printing your to-do lists—it isn’t user friendly because their philosophy is that it should all be done digitally but some of us like to still have hard copies for meetings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting everything we are doing as a team organized and listed in know place and being able to get updates there rather than interrupt one another as much.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is one of the best of its kind out there

Perfect addition to Slack

  • October 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was looking for a way to quickly assign tasks to the team within the Slack space. This was an awesome option! Once we figured out how to Lync everything and everyone up (lots of testing) it works fabulous!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not the easiest to set up. I wish it had more instructions on how to Lync everyone etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickly able to assign a task that steams from our daily project meetings
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create test cases when you set up Asana, with one colleague to test how it works, notifications you get etc. Before rolling it out to the rest of the team.

Good for task managing across a team

  • October 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It organized and prioritize tasks for my team, everyone could see what needed to be done and in how much time
What do you dislike about the product?
There are other apps that have similar functions such as slack, it’s hard to justify using several apps when one can do all the jobs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It streamlines tasks and for that I really like it. It’s easy to use and understand, I’ve not had any issues with team members not understanding how it works.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Terrific for task managing with a team.

Great individually, almost too powerful for collaboration

  • October 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for those who use Getting Things Done as a task management methodology. It's also opened up to newer methods such as Kanban.
What do you dislike about the product?
In recent months they've also added in other methods but at the expense of simplicity - it's now harder for new users to just get stuck in. It's also missing one feature from Nirvana - being able to tag a task as 'waiting for' someone else, for when you retain responsibility for a task but are not the next person to act upon it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is my offboard brain - I literally couldn't work without it. It helps me coordinate, prioritise and control my work day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The free trial allows a good roam around the feature set, but you need to set up at least one other user before you can try it 'for real'. Sharing tasks, notes etc with another user is where Asana shines.
