Task management made easy (and transparent)

  • July 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana's greatest feature is the fact that everything is tracked on a card, from changing the detail on it and who did it and when, through to what project boards it belongs, or used to belong to.
In a word - transparency.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to roll up multiple projects into a 'proper' roadmap is lacking. I know Portfolios now exist, but it's just the old Dashboard now with a cost attached.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving the problem of managing multiple projects and the work people do that feed into those projects.
We also use it to see what's actually being worked on as a company and whether it aligns to our strategic goals.

Asana changed my workday!

  • July 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am a freelancer, so Asana's strong project management capabilities laid out in a simple, easy to use platform was a gamechanger for me. It has everything I need - different projects for different clients, tags, Harvest time tracking integration, due dates, attachment support - without being too much or overwhelming as some other platforms are.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes feel like I'm always reordering tasks within a project list. There are features that allow you to automatically sort the list, but it only includes a couple of sort features (by due date, for example). But it always seems to be creating new tasks in the middle of the list, etc. Not a big deal and it's likely user error. It's just a bother. Secondly, I think the comments feature could be improved. I find it hard to view things as I scroll and when I copy and paste into the comments box, it always creates extra spacing, requiring me to 'clean it up.'
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm solving my day-to-day project management problem. I work with numerous clients and am sometimes working on multiple projects throughout the day. So, it's common that I lose track of things. Before, I was using a combination of a notebook and google calendar, but things were falling through the crack. Now, my Asana is always open and I'm constantly working in and out of it. Now, I feel like I don't lose track of anything and I work more efficiently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Add emojis to your recurring task titles to make your to-do list more fun! In each of my projects (list view), I create a 'General Section' where I stick resources, etc. In the section text box, I'll include commonly used links and information so I can quickly consult it.

Best in the business

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is so easy to use, you can set it up the way you want. It brings transparency in your workflow so that everybody is on the same page.

Bottom line, communication and transparency has been made easier !

Working remotely, tracking your team progress is a lot easier with this awesome tool !
What do you dislike about the product?
As a downside for being a blank page type of app when you begin the usage, you get to go back and forth on certain things.

With time, you get to stabilize it and those minor set back are easily over compensate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1- Communication
2- Centralize the information for a Project
3- Transparency

In fact, we could eliminate our internal email usage if everybody would use Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana has evolved incredibly over the years. It solved a lot of painful problems I had when trying to circle information around the team.

Not only a task management tool, it helps increase collaboration, transparency and makes work easier

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility of the tool. Multiple teams and users can use Asana differently to fit their own work style without requiring any customization.
For example I use list view projects I organize by priority but other team members can use tile-style projects or use my list projects organized by team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
Portfolios (dashboards) cannot be searched within the organization (you need to circulate the link with the relevant stakeholders manually) and the timeline view needs a little bit of manual organization to make the most of the view (each project can be viewed as a task list, calendar or a timeline without requiring additional work)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Clarify who is responsible for what, when things are needed. Highlights gaps in the plan before the team runs into the issue.
Ability to create template workflows and standardize processes across organization and team members.
Make the most current information available for whom needs it.

You need the team to use the tool to get these benefits however.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Training and on-boarding new users is key for success.
Asana provides guides and live webinars for free no matte the level of subscription, and even Customer Success Managers for the highest paying tiers

Couldn't Function Without Asana

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is the perfect mix of personal/team task management and new features are being added that make it an even more helpful tool. Our team uses it to manage more than 175 events across the world!
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the "My Tasks" section could be improved. It works fine, but sometimes I find myself struggling with the default view of that section and there's very limited customization available. As a workaround, I typically create a "dashboard" project and add tasks to that project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana allows us to get out of the email inbox and get work done. The collaboration tools are fantastic (and are constantly improving). I spend most of my day with outlook closed and Asana open, so real work can get done.

  • June 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With Asana I can make the development process of my projects faster, since it offers me excellent tools with which I can assign tasks to my work team, I have the possibility of creating boards in which I can add my activity lists and documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not really like its interface, I think it lacks more customization options and more colors, I also think that Asana plans are a bit expensive and it depends a lot on the number of members that make up my team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana, helps me to be more attentive to recent activities and those that are about to expire, also makes my team more productive when developing projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is an excellent tool with which you can keep your work organized in your office, it has a free version with which you can start working, in terms of its Premium version, keep in mind that the larger your work equipment, the more expensive.

A project management tool that goes beyond project management

  • June 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, smart user interface, portfolios and custom fields, templates, timeline, status updates, milestones. Ability to link tasks between projects allows to create master projects for executive view and link detailed projects into the master projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was an easy way to manage custom fields and users in a large team or division.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana business edition for everything, starting from meetings, to brainstorming sessions, to projects of any size and even goal setting.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a work management software that's friendly and powerful choose Asana.
