Getting things done

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Even the free version helped a colleague of mine and me to work across our different disciplines/fields. We were able to coordinate in a way we never could with the tools given at our work. The team I am working in now is rarely at the same place, so we use Asana to coordinate across borders and continents. It is helping us to manage requests, stay on track with our milestones and to never miss a deadline.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functionalities depend on third parties and are expensive. I would prefer not to have to provide such broad access to my data. My biggest issue with Asana is, that it is tailored too much towards businesses, the academic research sector is almost neglected, which also shows with the roles you can pick in questionnaires or when it asks about the company I am using the software at. I think it is a missed opportunity not to cater more towards that type of user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team is rarely in one place at the same time, so it helped us to stay on track with our milestones and getting closer to our goal.

Easy to use tool that makes work efficient

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is extremely user friendly. It's very easy for even a first-time user to understand. I love that it tells me exactly what's due each day, and where things are in the process. The subtasks make it easy to ensure that all parts of a project are completed. The comments also make it easy to communicate with multiple team members working on a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the differences between tasks and projects can be confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Asana allows things to be done on time. I wish my previous organizations had had a system that shows work and due dates so easily!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make it easier to view attachments.

Integrating Asana into an Organisation

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Asana is the ability the layout by project and tasks, as well as the choice besides list vs. board
What do you dislike about the product?
For a small company, or a Non-profit, Asana prices are a bit high.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management used to be a problem in the organisation I have led for the past year. No one knew who was doing what, what was left to do. Asana has solved that problem. Not only that, we've realised that one of the best benefits of Asana is that it helps our organisation maintain continuity with the every-year changing national board.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the "Learn Asana Basics" course from Asana Academy

Great workplace to collaborate.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to collaberate with others using asana. I also love the ability to check off your tasks and move them in to different sections as you are working on them and completing them!
What do you dislike about the product?
the only thing i dislike is that if someone tags you in a workspace it can get easily lost and you may not see it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I feel like there is a lot more organization when it comes to projects and know where each person is in their journey.

A different kind of tool

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the easy with which you can add tasks. In other tools, you need many clicks. I also appreciate the mobile app which I consider helpful especially when I am on the go.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest pain is that I can't switch the view between task list and board (thus it's being developed now) or organize boards based on custom fields. I would also welcome being able to use multiple filters at once.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I manage work in several different kinds of companies: consultancy firm, eshop, saas development and production company. In general Asana helps me to organizace work and loop other people in it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana lets you organize your work in many ways (it doesn't limit you) - not all of them will be correct for you. If you invest some to understand its features and best practises, it will pays of in the long term. Also, please talk about implementation with the team and help them with onboarding. It can be overwhelming at first for those not used to work in project/process management tools.

Asana for all

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana provides a UX/UI that allows for seamless collaboration across teams and departments. Working together has never been easier. It allows for management of personal to-dos and projects. It's never been easy to manage multiple projects with many stakeholders simultaneously as Asana will let you know what you need to work on and when to meet you deadlines.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't as easy to integrate your personal (home life) to-dos as Asana requires a business email. It then doesn't make sense to set up your personal life inside your business Asana in case you change company and have to migrate all the information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cross-functional work management. We have spent less time in meetings and sending emails (doing work-about-work) and been bale to increase our improve and improve quality.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Invest time and effort in the onboarding process. Don't rush. Ensure everyone is comfortable with using the tool.

Never been so organized!

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are so many things I love about asana but my favorite thing is how easy it is to share my process with my clients. Giving them tasks helps so much! Nothing gets lost over phone and email. A whole project is in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly can’t think of anything I don’t like!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
He recently started using the board template (instead of the list template). I use it when I’m early on in the process of a job for brainstorming and story boarding. It’s nice to have that option!

Don't know how I functioned before Asana!

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes task and project management a breeze! It's SO easy to track your tasks and projects, communicate within and across teams and facilitate collaboration.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I'd love is to have my own customised background on projects and even have different backgrounds for different projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana for so much! Day-to-day task management and staff oversight, project management and task execution, delegation and workload management and more! Tasks are getting done, time management has improved and we've seen less dropped balls across teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
GO FOR IT! Literally I don't know how we got anything done before using Asana!

asana has made me the Queen of productivity

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can customise asana to suit the needs of everyone in the business. Another key reason I love using asana is that the company is constantly innovating and developing new features as customer need arises. The community at asana is also unlike any other, around a year ago I joined asana together and through this program have met some amazing asanas and been invited to speak at an event at General Assembly.
What do you dislike about the product?
asana is quite costly to use and if it were cheaper we would have the ability to role business features out to more users. I wanted to really love the Creative Cloud integration, however I think it needs a lot more work on export options before it will really be a great integration to use. Hopefully this will continue to be worked on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started with just our designer (me) using asana to manage design requests, however over the last 2 years this has grown considerably and we now have things like Marketing campaigns, printing logs, Operations maintenance logs, time at task trackers, learning and development trackers all within Asana (and we are adding more things all the time). A real benefit for us has been the ability to develop custom templates and workflows for different departments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think outside of the box when making asana work for you, custom fields allow you to do so much more then what you might think.

Amazing and good looking task/project management tool which increases productivity!

  • June 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It brings clarity and transparency to our project. Increase in efficiency across the whole team and project. Clear responsibility and ownership of tasks. Massive reduction in E-Mail communication. It keeps improving and I always have the impression that the new or improved features are really well thought out. I never «not liked» a new feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
The implementation of new price plans with very cool features but that it is not possible to upgrade single users or teams to the new features. For a small company it's simply too expensive to upgrade the whole organization - especially if only a few users would benefit from the new features. Beside this - nothing. I'm a big fan and asana evangelist from day one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to run two major open-air cinema festivals in Switzerland. Specifically for the whole project and team organization. We coordinate our external creative agencies and plan our social media content with it (editorial calendar). We also use it to coordinate and distribute customer care request. Communication between office team and on site staff. Onboarding of new team-members.

After using asana for several years I could not imagine to go back to my old way of working. It is such an essential part of how I structure my work and team. I realized that it improved our teamwork and efficiency big time and in general people really like to use it and realize it's potential after some specific «aha monents». Working in a creative environment (events organization) I also realized that the clean and positive look of asana makes it easier to «convince» new team-members or agencies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try and stick to it! It will change your professional life. Try to setup specific projects and test it for yourself to get used to its benefits. In the beginning it might be tricky to convince your team to make the change. There you need strong commitment from your side and it helps to create / show specific cases where asana improves the way you work.
