Good but still in its infancy
What do you like best about the product?
SaaS platform, Easy to use/simplified UI, Animations, Cost effective, Regular updates, Boards, Documentation and support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Needs more work on simple usability features, too simplistic, Better visuals
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of projects and delegating work, documenting, writing user stories.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good lightweight management tool
Good Project Management Software
What do you like best about the product?
I like the integration capabilities, which help create a customized experience in a way that leads to personal productivity. I think Asana is also great for tracking personal tasks and smaller team projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The recurring task configuration doesn't seem as effective as it could be. Right now, only the first recurrent task shows up. The next task won't show up until that first task is complete. It would be awesome if there were a way to display multiple recurrent tasks at a time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps our team stay on track when it comes to project management. From an individual standpoint, it's a great tool to keep myself organized and on track.
Asana review
What do you like best about the product?
Good for organising a team project and assigning tasks to members
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not the best software visually. I would prefer another similar program that is more aesthetically pleasing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Makes project organization much easier and improves productivity, efficiency and communication
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would recommend it for short form projects rather than long term projects. There may be better programs to help with organization of longer term projects with many shared files.
Great idea, but learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
There are a lot of ways to stay organized and work with unique workflows, love the different calendar views and assigning capabilities
What do you dislike about the product?
There are almost too many features, it took a while for our team to get the hang of it and whenever we introduced someone else to the platform it seem to mess up our flow. Again lots of great potential, just requires time to adjust and figure out how it will be used
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We found it most beneficial for assigning tasks and keeping track of those projects with the submission forms. However a lot of our projects are managed on other platforms so having to go back-and-forth was not ideal and if we hosted everything on Asana I think it would be great
App looks great for collaboration- but I'm a small group of one & the learning curve is too steep.
What do you like best about the product?
Asana offers lots of integrations with other apps.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is too steep. I need something I can get up and running fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I tried using Asana, but it did not work for my purposes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared to need time to take a deep dive into learning this app. Also, I was not impressed with the company's support- especially because the app is not cheap.
Much better experience when you have an agreed upon template that works for your whole group.
What do you like best about the product?
With Asana, the free version does allow for a lot of functionality when it comes to coordinating cross-departmental projects. I used it for a large project with a lengthy timeline, with multiple phases involving several departments. It did help keep track of how many days are left for certain stages, and it encouraged a bit of urgency in making sure everyone stuck to their own deadlines (without other people having to send prodding emails, as Asana does that for you).
What do you dislike about the product?
Everyone has their preferred way of laying out project goals and timelines. Some prefer a list format. Others (like me) prefer a card system similar to Trello's. I know some of my colleagues who prefer to work exclusively out of Google calendar for planning projects. But when you're invited to work on a project, the layout is set to the project manager's preference, and even if you change the format to how you like it, the setup doesn't always transfer in the most accurate or intuitive way. You're a bit at the mercy of everyone's individual preferences if you work with many different departments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping keep things organized when it comes to cross-departmental communication and organizing files and notes. However, it doesn't provide a more back-and-forth collaboration method. It's a bit like a virtual to-do list that's just pinned on my browser instead of the office whiteboard. I do like that it can be linked to Slack and that everyone can update things easily, get notifications for changes, and encourage accountability at all stages. However, it really depends a lot on the project manager having a setup that makes sense for everyone. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming instead of user-friendly and intuitive.
Easy PM service to use
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to add projects and tasks to as well as assign and comment in tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as user friendly as other SaaS tools but easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization and communication are easy to gain by using asana
Good but expensive
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a good web app when you master it for project management
What do you dislike about the product?
It is very expensive for small companies and there is quite a learning curve. I wouldn't use it for strategic planning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for project management, we tried with strategic planning but it wouldn't really fit our need. We might swith to trello as it is free compared to expensive asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is long to implement, so be careful
Asana - Great Project Management Software
What do you like best about the product?
I love that asana is user friendly and easy to organize. As a marketing firm, we need ways to keep track of all our ongoing projects and hours worked. Asana is the perfect software for this.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be hard to see the full scope of our work pipeline in Asana. It would be nice to have a visual. Also in terms of analytics, it is hard to see hours worked on a project over a long period of time. Most of our projects extend to over a month.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems I am having with asana are the analytics. I would like to have more of a long-term view of hours worked on projects. I have realized so much more organization at my agency.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start slowly -- use Asana support videos so you can learn the software well. It is user-friendly and designed well.
