Asana Makes Collaboration Easier
What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes project management and collaboration with internal stakeholders easy. Our teams know who is working on what and how far along we are in the work process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don't like about Asana is that I can't upload video files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working for a multifamily company with over 140 properties across ten states can be daunting. Our Marketing Department is constantly working on projects for not only these properties but the corporate brand and sub-brands as well. Simply put, we're constantly working on a lot of projects. Asana is the perfect project management tool to make sure everything gets done in a timely manner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a user-friendly, intuitive, project management tool. Take your time to play around with it. There are tons of tutorials to guide your way.
Streamlining Communication Across Team Members
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is helpful when communicating with student assistants because of the app and notification on mobile phones. Student assistants may not always check their email while at work, but usually have their phone in their hands at all times.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is hard to recognize that files are attached to projects. You almost have to be looking for them in the file tab and if you don't open that tab, you may not realize they are there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary problems are maintaining ongoing project communication with multiple team members (student assistants, faculty, staff) and maintaining an updated list of assignments.
Great Resource
What do you like best about the product?
This has really helped our team collaborate and work together. We have 5 people on staff who use this at our small multi-campus church and it's been great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's a little hard to find the projects I'm working on, or I'll get assigned to public projects that are duplicates of things I made personally. Suggesting "is this a duplicate" those things might be nifty, but I can see it being annoying for other users too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communicating and staying on the same page.
Task Management System for Startups
What do you like best about the product?
I like the multiple facets of this task management system, as well as the option to divide the tasks per each workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get crammed with tasks, and create a bit of a mess if someone is not overseeing the whole system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management is one of the problems Asana solves and collaboration is its main benefit.
Excellent Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
Asana allows me to track my progress along multiple projects at once. There are multiple views depending on how you need to see your workload. And the ability to share your projects with other people/teams is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the interface can feel a little bit clunky. And adding subtasks its a bit of a strange process, but overall I don't have many complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, mostly. It's been very helpful to be able to easily share my workload with other teams and countries, so just knowledge sharing is the biggest benefit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Grow with Asana, it will only help you in the long run.

What do you dislike about the product?
Not ideal for graphics-intensive work.
Can't switch between Task and Kanban project views after creation.
The free version has lost some searching/reporting capability.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for grants tracking, so I can assign out pieces to different team members and easily gather pieces back to me. I love that I can hyperlink to previous years notes, attachments, etc. for easy reference, which is really helpful with donors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I cherish their free form with a firey enthusiasm, yet once drawback is as they have developed, the free form has lost some seeking/detailing ability. However, utilizing their paid item makes you all that you could need. So in the event that you are guiding the free form to get a sense, there is significantly increasingly out there.
Great project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
The user interface for mobile and desktop is easy to follow. Mobile notifications and email alerts keep users on schedule with upcoming deadlines, and it is easy to see the status of tasks assigned to other users.
What do you dislike about the product?
No dislikes - as long as everyone on your team stays active in Asana, it's a good tool!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My committee is using Asana to manage dozens of small tasks that need to be accomplished as part of our staff training and recruitment processes.
Great project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Asana has been so helpful to my team. We create dashboards for our projects and we can invite people from outside teams to join our project dashboards and make contributions to the tasks. I like the ease with which you can create new projects, tasks, subtasks, attach and share files, and track tasks. Dashboards are customizable and intuitive to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
With the free version, you can't create dependent tasks that automatically change the due dates. You also can't create gantt charts. There are a lot of great features with the paid version that I wish were available for the free version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team is able to continuously stay up to date with all of our projects. MY boss is able to check in on all of our progress without needing to talk. We can also assign tasks throughout meetings, which solves the need to send follow up emails.
For those who can get past the tone of micromanagement
What do you like best about the product?
Its a great tool for transparency and virtual real time progress monitoring for those who's priority is to get the project done
What do you dislike about the product?
i personally love the transparency and the tool's support in holding myself accountable to a team project, but there seems to be a psychological aspect where folks feel like the person assigning the tasks and creating the skeleton is micromanaging. on the one hand, the more broken down the steps the more likely they will get tackled and completed but the more micromanagement is felt. vs. assigning roles and responsibilities...
There is also a huge hurdle for folks who do not consider themselves tech savvy to grasp how to use the tool

Make sure the team buys into the goals of the project and the importance of using the tool to achieve it.
Have project management asana timelines and templates ready and roles clearly understood.
The tool can highlight gaps in lack of role clarity and decision making processes. Be prepared to address them.

Asana fits the bill
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Asana is that it's easy to manage my home and work life in one app. With easy mobile or web apps, I'm able to note the task for whatever comes up regardless of where I am.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although you can add tags to the favorites, I wish tag management was easier. Using GTD method, tags are essential. Also wish it would integrate with Harvest. Still need to use another task management system that does to manage tasks that require time tracking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because Asana has a good free option, I'm able to set up new teams for each client.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
With a little time and effort you will be able to set up Asana in a manner that works with your company's work flow. It might take a few tries but by trial and error as well as looking up what others are doing on YouTube, you can find a solution that works.
