The best task management app

  • September 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity and the variety of features makes the app easy to use. The clean UI makes adding and managing tasks easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it gets too cluttered to use the app. For example, whenever a recurring task is added, it gets confusing to organize it according to the due date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team management for research work. The benefits are regular up-to date progress of team members and monitoring the tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can use it both for small as well as large teams. But the true power of Asana is revealed when large teams handle multiple projects.

Email is a terrible way to manager your projects

  • September 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is the email killer. It puts everything in context of a task or conversation, give complete transparency to who is doing what, but has privacy too, if needed. Do you ever get added to an email and it doesn't have the original attachment? Or how about the double email, opps forgot the attachment. How about an email about X and a subject line that says Y. No more with asana, context is king and managing a task or project in context kills it every time.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike about asana, and I'm being completely honest. Maybe the search could be better, but its 10x better than Outlook, so it's pretty hard to complain about it being a weakness.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage all our projects in asana and our problem was we would be requests for creative tasks via email and a google form. Then we had to manage each one individually, without being able to see status of each. We use asana for all of that and have visiability.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stop managing work by email, use a project tool with an app for your device.

Excellent Project Management Software

  • September 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We have used Asana for the tracking and planning of all sorts of projects - from IT delivery & development to managing teams of people on location doing surveys. Asana is extremely flexible and through the use of tags, custom fields and views can be configured to look and work whatever way you like.

The collaboration functions between teams and individuals is excellent and relatively simple integration with email via a project email addresses makes tracking and logging of progress and discussion simple.

Task creation and tracking is simple and effective with a very nice UI and UX. Status updates on projects are central and simple making it easy to keep on top of multiple projects.

The recent addition to Asana of end dates for tasks and dependencies between them is very welcome as is the increasing number of projects templates available.

Again lots of API integrations are available between Asana and many other software packages.
What do you dislike about the product?
The flexibility of the product is one of its main strengths but also one of the things that can cause problems if you are not strict about how you set up projects.

Reporting on development KPIs has not been easy to set up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to manage projects of differing types with people in many different locations.

It is an excellent product for helping us deliver as planned.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a very flexible product and can be made to work for most setups.

  • September 17, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integrates with Slack and Google Drive. Free for small teams. Easy to add additional team members that are not part of your organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a hate it or love it app. I am in the "love" category, but some of our clients and own team members do not like the structure of data reporting g that Asana uses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management and project related file sharing. Transparency of project management.

Asana is Great for Collaborations & Project Organization

  • September 17, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is one of the best collaboration and project organization tools I've ever used. It's easy to share and contribute to projects and track progress over time. You can also keep track of multiple projects with different groups of collaborators, and I've even used this interface to keep track of a running personal to-do list. You can also set and manage deadlines. Overall, it's very flexible and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most complains regarding Asana are in regard to its complexity; some find it less intuitive than others. The only real way to find which category you will fall into is to try it out yourself. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but I've used it now in several different contexts and have never found it to be so complicated that I couldn't figure out how to complete a desired action.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Research project management is the main task delegated to Asana from an institutional perspective. Personally, I have found it useful for creating to-do lists, setting deadlines for individual projects, and tracking deadlines. It's a powerful tool if you're willing to follow the goals you have set! And it's oh-so-satisfying to use the charts on the website to track your progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a good project management tool, Asana can serve you well if you bother to learn about all of its features. There are options for delegating tasks, tracking projects, setting due dates, and chatting with collaborators - it's really powerful. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it's not too bad if you're looking for a way to manage complex projects; I'd say it's worth the investment.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is quite easy to create tasks and projects within Asana. The interface is very clean and user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
For growing organizations the structure can get unwieldy a bit quickly if you are not thoughtful in your layout.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of to-do's and who is responsible for the various items.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep it simple - there are many options within Asana, so don't complicate things by adding too many projects/tasks/etc.

I like that you can create digital task sheets and set deadlines for them

Flexible Software, but not robust

  • September 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can customize many aspects of Asana. It's straightforward and there's not a steep learning curve for new users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana is not very robust. It's a basic kanban board. My company has an in-house solution for kanban boards. While Asana is more flexible than our solution, but it's just not a deep software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I tried using Asana for project management. It allowed us to clearly track task owners, due dates, progress, and updates.

Copyrights and Project Manager at Music Label and Publishing company

  • September 15, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how clean it looks, very user friendly. It has a lot of features and links to other apps (i.e. Slack). You can set due dates for tasks and communicate with other team members regarding a specific task.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm still trying to get used to the different viewing templates it has. Also I'm not utilizing the "Dashboard" feature as it seems a little confusing, and time consuming to figure out. I'm sure it's great though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its great to know who is in charge of what, regarding a specific project. You know that things won't slip through the cracks when someone has been assigned to tasks. There can be multiple people following up and commenting - SO much easier than 50 different email threads in your mailbox.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've used Basecamp with another company, and I prefer Asana! It's much easier to use.
