Asana for board management

  • August 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is easy to use for tech users and people who aren't used to traditional project or task management software. It's intuitive and requires little to no training for out of the box usage. I like that you can add followers that get automatic updates on deliverables.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's really not much to dislike. The only thing I don't like, is that it doesn't easily integrate with Google tasks, which a lot of other people on the team use for their personal and other tasks. It would be nice to have something that could move into one task list. Instead we have to duplicate tasks if we want this one source of assignments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to coordinate many mini projects among people with different responsibilities and work schedules. Since we're not able to always convene in person or on the phone depending on availability, this serves as a good repository for information and history tracking.

Digital Manager for the Digital Age

What do you like best about the product?
+ Excellent iOS app (beware of the product for android)
+ Free of charge, if you do not need to run a large team into the project.
+ Smart, intuitive interface
+ Configurable task repetition settings.
+ Support hot keys
What do you dislike about the product?
- there is no Russian language
- no push to the browser
- No project templates - this is a big bummer :-(
- Not the best visual layout. something like DropTask
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I worked as a marketing consultant for some time and managed to manage up to ten projects with Asana at the same time. This service helps to virtually eliminate the work with e-mail and work much more efficiently. People in my team know exactly what to do and when to do it. My clients know exactly what is happening with their projects. And I know how to plan my day. Communication is directly related to tasks and results - this is really important.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
- At least 2 times a day go to the My tasks section and select the Calendar tab to monitor the task status and deadline
- Transfer tasks from work immediately from mail / chat to Asana
- You can not change the date of the task without comment
- If the user performed part of the task and had to transfer it to another responsible person, but forgot to do this, he and the project manager are to blame. If the task was moved to another user after 18:00, you also need to change the date by putting out tomorrow, and indicate the status in the comment to the task
- At the end of the working day there should not be a single task with the date of the current day

The best task management tool!

What do you like best about the product?
I love that each task can have sub-tasks added and there is room for notes and comments. It's just so easy and enjoyable to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was difficult to figure out how to access completed tasks that has been ticked off previously. That is the only thing I could possibly fault. I was up and running with Asana within a few hours of starting the job.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is great for keeping track of tasks and projects that you are completing. Colleagues can assign you tasks or add you onto boards and projects, you can write notes, comments, attach documents etc. All on a super simple interface.

Asana Works Great for Simple Database Usage

  • August 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Asana for a small side business that I run. It helps me to track current clients, former clients, potential clients, and track communications with all of them. Additionally it provides a simple platform to collect contact information, set reminders, etc. I use the free account, but it offers all of the features I need for the simple nature of the business I use it for.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is that the mobile app doesn't always communicate flawlessly with the desktop version. It seems to have a few glitches, but those seem to occur less and less over time. I do believe the company is working to fix these issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am currently using Asana as a small database for my business. It allows me to track conversations, contact information, and create queues of those I need to connect with, including past, present, and potential clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are running a small to medium sized business and are looking for a cost-effective solution to your database needs, check out this product. It is simple, easy to use, accessible across devices, and allows you to easily access stored information. I use this software to track conversations and contact information, to create to-do lists of past, present, and potential clients I want to connect with, and to track other business activities. This software is a time-saver for me for sure! I am grateful for the free version of this as well.

the cleanness and simplicity of Asana's functions and overall look
What do you dislike about the product?
it's not the best for people who are visual (e.g. who need to see components of their projects and where they are)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
coordination of complex projects, coordination among various team members; we have simplified decision-making and better kept team members informed of deadlines and moving parts

Asana is Great!

  • August 29, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can assign tasks to employees and also manage my own tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It sends a lot of email reminders that I tend to ignore.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication and project management issues. With multiple people working on projects simultaneously it's hard to keep track of where the project is at in our queue.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Utilize all of the tools available to you.

Asana is fantastic for group projects and collaborative communication

  • August 29, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Asana is the ability to assign tasks and subtasks with different due dates, and then assign that project to somebody else if it's a collaborative project.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the missing feature of a personal organizational feature to take the place of Google Calendar and goal tracking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My business uses it constantly in very elaborate ways. We set benchmarks by team and by individual and review weekly updates across projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great program for businesses that require a lot of daily communication. It really helps reduce extraneous emails.

Asana is the best task management tool

  • August 29, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- the UI is simple and intuitive
- at the same time it offers many advanced tools (such as a subtask of a subtask of a subtask of a subtask, or project templates)
- advanced search (tasks with an attachement I marked as done in October 2016 - actually used this one)
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be slow to load, but the Asana team has been working hard on this one and switching between tasks is now much faster. But there is still a lot to improve. For now I just keep Asana open in a pinned tab at all times, so I never have to worry about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to organize and delegate the work for every team member. No one ask "What do I have to do today?" anymore, they just open their Asana and see their list of tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to pick-up, timely notifications, good organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
No desktop application, no start dates, custom reporting is a bit clunky
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management software - much better project planning, execution, and organization!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn from others on the best way to set it up

Do not be afraid to assign tasks and due dates

Asana a Great Feature to Hold Yourself Accountable

  • August 29, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how I can share and collaborate lists and calendars with my team, which holds me accountable to my deadlines. Asana also took a lot of time on the design, so it's a modern minimalist look with a high priority of graphic integrity and usability. I've used similar programs and Asana is by far the most tech forward and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't add multiple team members to a single task, which has turned into a big problem. Also, sometimes I want to add a person's name to a project without having them download and sign in to a list. I wish it were possible to add names to an item without including their email just for tracking purposes and visibility for the rest of the team. Also, I have to click into an item before editing or marking off. All those clickthroughs mean I inevitably find it too time consuming to add end edits tasks, so I stop creating lists or keeping them up to date. While Asana is a great tool, there are definitely more updates to be done to make it more user friendly. Also, I REALLY wish that it were possible to integrate all these dates and calendars directly into Outlook so that I didn't have to compare and contrast my Asana calendar with my Outlook calendar. Automatic synching between Outlook and Asana would entice me to actually pay for a premium account.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration on projects. Keeps everyone on track by keeping deadlines top of mind.
