Love Asana for project management & collaboration

  • March 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Asana's interface -- the ability to create multiple projects within a team, tag people in comments, and multiple options for setting deadlines
What do you dislike about the product?
It can seem a bit complicated compared to other project management tools. I've had difficulty convincing others to use it for this reason
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking progress towards completing data collection in multiple countries

Good project management application

  • March 23, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana offers a good structure for managing a project or event including delegation of tasks and subtasks, setting deadlines, attaching files, and segregating your projects to specific team members while still keeping everything within one organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the integration with Google calendar was better so I could assign a working time for a task on my calendar instead of just a deadline where it shows up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana allows me to better track progress of my staff on their various projects and efforts. It gives me the freedom to allow Asana to remind them of deadlines once I have set up (or they have set up) recurring tasks.

Useful For People Who Love Organization So Much It's Practically a Hobby

  • March 22, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to label, group, and manage tasks. I especially like the fact that it's mobile friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
That there's a better, paid version. I understand they're a for-profit business, though - and I can manage with the free version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My role requires the completion of a variety of tasks. These tasks range from very time-consuming to practically taking no time at all. It's easy for the latter to slip through the cracks while working on the former. Asana (as long as I remember to add each and every task) is my memory insurance.

Helpful to consolidate all projects and priorities

  • March 22, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part of Asana is the seamless flow of information from all my team members to me, across multiple platforms. For example, our project manager can be on his phone while travelling, and he can check up on what has been completed and what is still outstanding. The platform is very easy to use and someone with no experience at all can pick it up in less than a day. Plus they have all these fun plug-ins haha. The snow fall for winter, the bats that fly around, and of course, Tab B.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I dislike. I wish that some of the search functions were even more customizable, but we have learned to work around what we have. Maybe a few more report options, and an actual app for the Desktop, because sometimes you either forget to open the web browser, or, even if you have it automatically start, you may accidentally close it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before, the project managers used to have to manually type up the list of priorities each week. That would take up hours of their time. Of course, setting up the program the first time is pretty time consuming, but once you get a solid template, it becomes very easy to see the work flow, and realize what is needed for another step to be completed, etc. And the weekly meeting notes are now automatically populated and print directly from asana, all you have to do is adjust a few of the dates and you are good to go. So it has greatly improved the communication between our team members, especially since our company has grown from 7 employees to around 30 in the last few years, and many are now working remotely. Communication is key to meeting deadlines, and that's what Asana provides for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When considering Asana, it is very helpful to just give it a shot. The trial is free up to a 15 member team? I think. It was 15 members free when we first started, so that might have changed, but if you have multiple teams in your company and you are a larger company, it is worth a shot trying it out on one of the teams. You will quickly see them fall in love with it.

Great, free product for managing group projects

  • March 22, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's free, it's easy, and highly customizable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I'd like to have a non-browser app for the desktop
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Service Now is great for managing incidents and requests, but this has helped us make our projects realizable
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It takes literally minutes to sign in and create your team. Getting other users on board is a simple email link and makes it super easy to kick off. When we decided to start using Asana we were up and running with projects in queue in under 2 hours for a team of 15 IT staff.

Great for task management but needs some scheduling functionality

  • March 22, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Task management is the primary reason we use Asana. It is easy to use, very intuitive and easy to assign things to other team members. This gives us better visibilty of the progress of certain projects. Unfortunately due to our limited size and capacity we have to prioritize things quickly. With Asana we can instantly do that by changing due dates.
What do you dislike about the product?
The calendar functionality is very limited. Unfortunately we do a lot of content marketing we need better visibility to see what is being done on this end and see what is ready to be published. Without a calendar tool things may have been completed but since there is no scheduling function we need to create a task to say simple things like "Publish content". We also use agencies so this adds additional complexities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since we have a small team with limited resources we have to prioritize our tasks. Asana makes it easy and we end up less with "I thought you were doing that". It is easy to update, access and instead of wasting time updating things we are actually completing work. We eliminate the need of having things written down on paper and determine what needs to be done by who and when it needs to be completed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
To manage your tasks Asana is an exceptional tool and elminates the need for finger pointing.

Game Changing!

  • March 22, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We started using Asana in 2014 in a small area of our business to better manage client implementations. We now use Asana across our entire company. The app allows anyone in the business to have visibility into any of the key objectives of the business. We love it!
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no dislikes about the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana for overall company-wide task management, project management, & SDLC. The accountability, transparency, and visibility into our business are bar none.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend starting in a small area within the business, then grow across the company with a pre-defined plan to ensure success.

Love it!

  • March 22, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very intuitive and user-friendly. It was a great way to pull together multiple workstreams and to ensure everyone on the team was on the same page and moving towards the same goals. It really increased the transparency of where deliverables are. It was also really easy for the team to access either with their computer or the mobile app. It also sent reminders to encourage team members to stay on track and meet their deadlines. I also love how visual the software is.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a little bit challenging to get to the screen with the overall project/deadline calendar. It has improved over time, but it took a while to get the overall workstream information to integrate for the project manager. The Gaant chart function was a little difficult to use at first as well, but has also improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had too many workstreams that needed to be pulled together. Teams were operating independently, and this gave more transparency in to deliverables and progress. It helped a new project manager (jumping in during the middle of a project) to really have a visual of the project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take some time to test Asana out and make sure it is right for you. This helped us with tracking progress and communicating. If you are looking for a software that is more focused on increasing communication, I would check out other options as this has more features that could get in the way.

Intuitive and Clean Platform for Project Management

  • March 21, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The teams I work on are remote, with teammates all over the world. Asana allows us to stay on the same page in terms of timelines, goals, and deadlines, and keeps things simple!
What do you dislike about the product?
When you mark an activity as done, it disappears. If you ask a question and it gets answered, it also disappears. Kind of frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With projects that have many moving parts, its a clean way to keep us organized and remind us when tasks are due. Also, it's a great tool for meeting agendas when you are working on a skype or phone call.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to use! Definitely give it a try.

    Design

I use Asana for project planning.

  • March 21, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It helps me remember everything in all of my projects and allows me to break projects down into reasonable chunks. I also like that it is cloud based so I can have access to it anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
Logging details of projects can be a bit tricky and I don't like the calendar user experience. I wish the calendar were more flexible/would mesh with my other tools better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communicating to team members what actionable steps are available to them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a cloud based project planner, this would be great for you.
