Great for project management

  • May 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Asana for my team to manage our project tasks and to ensure all the communication we have is all in one spot. I like the assigning tasks function and the option to control what notifications you receive from the app.
What do you dislike about the product?
For myself, it was easy to navigate my way around, but for some of my team who aren't that savvy, they had trouble knowing where to start.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Asana we've removed the dreaded reply-all email thread, we stay on top of our projects and deadlines and we are able to see where everyone else is on their tasks.

A project planning tool that's easy to use and super helpful

  • May 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that there are so many ways to use it. I love having project boards, as well as task lists. It makes it super easy to stay organized and map/plan everything out. I've used it for complex multi-phase projects and simple tasks as well. I particularly love that you can set a recurring task that gives you a reminder at the interval you set. I also love that you can keep your systems and processes outlined in an easy to view place for everyone on your team. It's also very user friendly so you can get started without a huge learning curve.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has so many features that I don't know about and don't have the time to watch tutorials. I'm sure it's more powerful than I know but haven't been able to tap into it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My plans and ideas were all over the place and tasks would slip through the cracks. It's definitely the tool I turn to when I have a big project with lots of moving pieces. Asana helps me keep everything on track and it frees up my mind since I have everything written out in an organized place. It also makes it really easy to assign projects and due dates. I can coordinate with my VA without having to get on a call very often. It's great!!

Asana keeps me sane

What do you like best about the product?
It's so easy to get started setting up projects and the multiple view options help me stay on top of my tasks (I'm very visual). It's useful whether you're the only one using it or a whole team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't think of anything I dislike so far
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Shared task lists - it's been difficult because some of our team members are not tech saavy and they have a difficult time, but anyone who's used to using a web app of any kind picks it up quickly. It keeps us organized and makes sure that we make progress on our projects.

Asana is a fantastic project management tool

What do you like best about the product?
I like the front end interface, it organises tasks into suitable categories and can be split into seperate sections. You will see the tasks organised by their due date which is very helpful when planning to delegate work within a timeframe. You can see the history of every task so when it was created, when it was due, and the current progress percentage - this is a benefit over having to go and ask the individual.
What do you dislike about the product?
The android version could be improved as it looks much better on desktop. Would be useful to snooze notifications from certain historic projects as notifications can sometimes become frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For managing projects in an effective manner when working to deadlines and ownership of tasks are important Asana makes all this possible. It has everything in one place and has multiple integrations.

Simple but powerful task management

  • May 08, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Task management systems can easily break if they don't match the way users think and work. Asana is flexible enough to use in many different ways, yet easy to use regardless of the approach users take. People looking for a master planner, project management tool might prefer something like SmartSheet. Asana is ideal for the more immediate daily needs of people who just need to remember what to do and get it done at the right time. A few features I appreciate in Asana include:
-Great scheduling options for recurring tasks. Unlike some competitors (e.g., Wrike), subtasks recur with the parent. This is really handy for routine processes with multiple steps. Works great for monthly reports, annual performance reviews, expense reporting and so on when you need to remember all the steps or schedule the subtasks leading to timely task completion.
-Ability to assign tasks, subtasks, or both independently.
-Unassigned tasks are easily visible in a project, but stay out of the way when not needed. Only assigned tasks appear in the My Tasks list, so for example, you can keep tasks unassigned until they are the 'next action' (if you like the classic 'Getting Things Done' methodology).
-Ability to easily promote or demote any item to be a project, task, or subtask.
-Easy grouping of tasks using sections and tags.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of Asana's flexibility, it takes time and effort to develop a common understanding of how to collaborate effectively, when used in a team. Some users just are not interested in participating in that type of effort. A few wishes on my list include:
-Ability to switch between board and list views*
-Built-in time tracking (timers, not just logging) would be nice
-Many users dislike that tasks can be assigned to only one user. Usually, it's good to have only one owner, but sometimes multiple people need to each perform the same task, independently. Creating copies of the task to assign it to multiple users creates some clutter.
-No tag management as an admin function. Tags can be managed, renamed, and so on but there is no master list (unless you create an 'artificial' one within a task).

*Workaround. Create a project as a list, then a duplicate as board. Tasks can be assigned to more than one project, so by assigned each task to both projects (which can be done as a batch), you can make it possible to view the tasks either way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Asana helpful for deciding what to work on at any given moment, and for remembering to complete scheduled tasks at the right time. I have connected it to Harvest time tracking, so I can use the same system for personal tasks, team projects, or logging billable time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have experimented with dozens of alternatives to Asana. Airtable, Zenkit, Outlook, Wrike, Trello, Hygger, Monday.com, SmartSheet, and many others. Some are complicated and too slow to use. Some are built especially for one type of function (e.g. Jira). Some are useful, but too expensive, and others are nothing more than a simplistic checklist. For managing large, complex, long-term projects, tools that provide a higher altitude overview resource allocation, and so on might be better (I like SmartSheet). For lighter project planning and flexible task management, Asana works great. It's my favorite tool for focusing what I need to get done, right now.

Asana - a bit complicated, but does a good job

What do you like best about the product?
It is used as a task management and project management tool. Its easy integration with the Gantt charts made it very suitable for the needs of our company. Create tasks, assign them to different people, set deadlines, download files, discuss discussions on each thread.
What do you dislike about the product?
Adding options to chat on the platform would be great.
This is very difficult, and in order to use all the specific functions, everyone must follow all the textbooks, which requires a lot of time.
In most cases, it's difficult for me to find what I'm looking for, because there are sections, subsections, project names, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is used as a task management and project management tool. His easy integration with the Gantt charts contributed to his meeting the needs of our company. Creating tasks, assigning them to different people, setting deadlines, downloading files, leading discussions on each thread are just some of the features that the platform offers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is well suited if the company is ready to organize training for all employees so that they can use all the functions of the platform. If you need a simple task management tool, Asana is not suitable, because it is too complex.

Asana is the best project management tool I've used so far

  • May 06, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The expandability of Asana is really great. You can manage everything in one project if that is how you work best, or if you have lots of projects and wear different hats with different teams of collaborators you can manage it all there too.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get overwhelming. You have to have a system and figure out what is going to work best for you, but if you have tons of projects and dozens and dozens of tasks, and you don't take the time to get this system working for you it'll end up being a confusing waste of your time and you might as well have not bothered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I manage personal as well as business projects with Asana and I use it to keep on top of all of these tasks in one place. The way you can add a task to multiple projects allows you to organize things in creative ways that make managing a lot of stuff simpler, clearer, and more manageable than with other project management tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend you go to youtube and search for some people talking about how they use Asana so you can start getting an idea of how you want to organize your system. If you just dive in and start adding things you are likely to make a mess that will just be another task you need to add in the future (clean up Asana tasks)

Asana for Business

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the integrations with GoogleSuite, Evernote, and Dropbox. The new timeline feature is great! I used to export my Asana chart to InstaGantt. This has saved me time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not something I do not like, but it would be great if you could edit forms in Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project planning for our HR team. We use it for our quarterly OKR process, and individual team projects.

Best Task & Project Manager for teams

  • April 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a clean simple interface that has a ton of functionality just a few clicks away. The different options of how you view projects puts it above other project managers. I like how customizable it is in notifications, and using with email.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most everything works just as I would like. The only thing that I dislike is the limit on the dashboard in the free version, and the limitation on guest in your projects in the free version. I do think those are fair limitations on a free version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It reduces the amount of emails needed, and keeps projects and the coordination on those products way more organized. Less falls through the cracks, and more time is saved by using Asana over email.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are considering Trello, or Basecamp, or Wrike, or other project management tools, at least create an Asana account and use it for a day. You will probably like it!

Great Day-to-Day Project Mgmt Tool for Marketers

  • April 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very conducive to using it every day. I also like the Calendar view, which gives a quick snapshot of what my tasks for a week or month are.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike about this product - it's got everything i need for simple marketing project management. Perhaps some additional features on handling creative and design workflow would be great to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps streamline our marketing program workflow. We use it to keep track of all of our tasks, and deadlines. It helps provide our team with a bird's eye view of our goals, and keeps us organized so we are prioritizing and working on the right tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great web-based solution to use for small and large teams.
