Excellent task management tool

  • April 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is an excellent tool for managing tasks for your group, department, or company. The fact that it's free for a small group of users is very valuable for freelancers out there. The new features they added such as project management view and copy/pasting images directly to a task is very much needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there's a proper way to group tasks so I can copy paste them or move a bunch of tasks in one go. Currently, grouping a task is done by creating a pseudo-task with a colon at the end.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted a quick, easy-to-learn, cloud solution for managing tasks in a project for our department. Asana brings that to the table to help us keep track of things for our project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a cloud-based project management tool that is well designed and easy-to-use, look no further. Also check out the integrations they have with other cloud services out there that you might find pretty useful.

Good for collaboration, but not enough tiers

  • April 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very helpful being able to see which members of my team are working on which aspects of a project at what time, and I appreciate the feature that allows me to reassign a task to another team member once I've completed my own portion of it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could break tasks down by another level or two. I need to get more granular with my to-do lists and would appreciate being able to check off smaller, short-term tasks rather than personally keeping track of the smaller subtasks that go into a larger one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our process is very much a unidirectional flow and therefore being able to pass tasks off between team members is very valuable. It keeps the work moving smoothly and seamlessly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've also used Trello, which is more helpful in its ability to really break down tasks, but the free version is less helpful than Asana's free version in terms of team collaboration.

Asana for managing multiple projects

  • April 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can create a template for your projects if you have projects that always have the same stages or steps. I also like that you can see if a coworker has completed a task and send them a reminder directly from the app interface. You can also have different teams for different types of projects which is pretty cool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like the ability to create projects and alter project details via an import instead of manually. Example, I had to deliver my product within the clients dictated timeframe. Project dates were updated weekly (160+ projects each with 3 key dates) and as project dates change due dates of key project stages change accordingly, without a way to quickly update all the projects I actually stopped using Asana
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was using Asana to manage various projects that happen all at once and also one after the other. This helped keep the other people on my team on track for their projects and there was good visibility as to who should be doing what. Asana encouraged accountability and productivity in that sense.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This can be a good way to collaborate with coworkers and get a visual on projects

Great tool for tracking projects

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is straightforward to set up a project and track milestones.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have issues with the permissions in Asana. For instance I will click through a link and be told I don’t have access to view the content...but I have no way of requesting access to it or seeing what exactly I don’t have access to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project tracking, collaboration, milestone setting, task assignment.

A useful way to plan your day, at work and at home

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how useable the tool is with useful hotkeys and and integrated mobile app. I also like how you can break a task into sub-steps that can be completed individually.
What do you dislike about the product?
I still have to be disciplined to use the tool :). It has helpful email reminders but ultimately it's up to you to use it regularly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I keep track of priorities and try to use it to focus my efforts for the day. I can also keep track of details for long-running tasks and projects.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
i found really useful the task control functions and the focus mode feature and the smart box to keep me focus on the important tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
as an small company i think the power of the tool is too much, we found this better for larger companies
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task tracking , task assignment, workplace collaboration, realize that the project managers have more insights about the status of the projects
Recommendations to others considering the product:
a good training will make a difference when implementing the tool

Great for team collaborations!

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We most appreciate the ability to work cooperatively on projects and assign due dates, task owners, followers, subtasks, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not a time budgetary aspect. (ie: tasks do not have the ability to be assigned a time to complete value)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana for group tasks. I also use to help manage recurring program tasks.

Asana makes project management easy for everyone

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s so easy to create tasks and subtasks in Asana. Developing scrums and using agile project management is much easier than before. I really love that everyone can drag and drop different documents and collaborate in one space. It's also really helpful to see everything in the calendar view.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some areas like Gantt charting that aren't quite as easy as they are with other systems. I also dislike how difficult it can be to search for specific tasks. For example, if you don't search for the exact task name, it can take forever to find what you're looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We’re solving a lack of organization. For the most part, things are no longer slipping through the cracks. Additionally, the product is helping with accountability. We can easily tag and mention various members of our team when they need to have eyes on specific projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're considering Asana, just make the switch. It'll be easy for all of your company to use – including those who are typically less responsive and/or tech-savvy.

Wonderful for a flexible and responsive bug and task tracking database

  • April 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It can be used for personal and business task tracking. It works well for bug tracking and sprint planning as well and makes it easy to outline goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was a slight learning curve in the beginning that was easily overcome. Features for QA and bug tracking could be more comprehensive as seen with RallyDev, but nothing that can't be overcome with supplemental application support w/ Google Docs and the like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is wonderful because it can be used for personal task tracking as well as business tracking. It was effective in tracking both bugs, sprint progress, and sprint task. Communication and tagging other users is made easy through Asana. It's easy to organize things the way you want them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is an excellent tool for small scale project management and can also be used for personal goal tracking.

Good for Group Work--Bad for Calendaring

  • April 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the interface--I like the ability to create and assign tasks & the flexibility to edit the tasks after their supposed completion date--like passing them off to other team members or giving yourself a followup or additional task to complete in order to finish a task.
I also like the ability to write notes to team members on tasks.
This is really a perfect application to use for group work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wanted an easier way to create a group calendar that would allow all of the members of the team to add and see what the whole team has going on. It was hard and a little confusing to add already existing calendars from other applications into the system & it was a little buggy. We also didn't get notifications about the calendar as we did with the tasks.
Also--There is in INSANE amount of notification emails. It is adjustable-- but the default is getting mulitple emails a day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We tried to use this application to create a singular cohesive calendar that is shared by multiple team members with different meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great application to communicate with team members while working on tasks toward a single or multiple goals.
