Asana

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for organizing purposes. I enjoy using the dashboard function because I can create tasks and check them off as I complete them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that they will be removing the dashboard function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has improved our team's communication. My team and I are able to assign task to anyone within our company, and we're able to track the task's and projects that we create.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is great because it improves communication within the company and allows you to keep track of projects and tasks.

Great project management tool for collaborative teams

  • November 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I particularly like how flexible the tool is to be adapted to each team's workflows. The ability to add custom fields makes it very flexible. The ability to add the same task to different projects make sit possible for teams to organize their projects the way they want without having to duplicate tasks, thus making it possible to have a full understanding of the work planned and being done across all teams. The integration with the Google docs suite of products is also a great advantage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Flexibility comes at a cost, since users might start using different flavours for the workflows. It's important to make sure the workflows are well defined, communicated and then enforced, to make sure things don't get chaotic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing a large number of projects with multi-functional teams who have members scattered across the world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you try to bite more that you can chew you might not get the value you expect.
Start simple and get your feet wet in the tool. As you evolve and you learn to use the product, look at more advanced features and start adding more functionality to your processes.

Terrific for project management on a remote team

  • November 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has linked up beautifully with the Suite at our organization, making it easy to assign tasks, create a list of deliverables in different areas of the organization, and corral notes about various projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana is still somewhat new, so there are a few kinks, particularly for assigning tasks to multiple people, but the pros far outweigh the cons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has been a godsend for assigning tasks and gathering information in one place. Our team works remotely, so it's easy for things to get lost in the shuffle. Asana aggregates our process much better than a bunch of emails could!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think through the areas where you'd like to use Asana—is it for your fundraising team, project management more holistically, marketing, or all of the above? It can do all of these things, but requires full staff buy-in to be properly effective.

Extremely useful and very easy to get people on board

  • November 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity when you first start using it. It's immediately useful and you don't need to go through help pages and forums to get going. It's very intuitive, visual and definitely helps the work flow in our team. The new Asana Business, which will also include resource management, will make this definitely the tool to use in my opinion. This was a shortcoming when researching which tool to use, but now it makes the tool very complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
The "Home" page is not very useful for the time being.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large quantities of projects across different teams makes it hard to coordinate and be aware of what everyone is doing. Using Asana makes it much easier to have an overview and make sure everyone is working on the tasks they are supposed to.

What do you dislike about the product?

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for use in settings where teams are in different locations. We are finding it very helpful in keeping our virtual team on track andunited in purpose.

Amazing for task management

  • November 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite Asana feature is when it automatically creates a task when I send it to special email. Many other apps do this, but Asana creates tasks from emails just as I expect it. I’ve tried many of task and project management tools. Asana is so successful for one simple reason – its dashboard looks like an inbox. Most people send and get their task by email and get used to inbox design and structure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana can lead to inbox-overload. By default, you are subscribed to updates on any task that you create or follow. Updates include someone marking a task complete, leaving a comment on a task, or adding a file to a task. This means that if your coworker adds a file, makes a comment, then assigns the task back to you, then marks the task complete, you're looking at 4 emails in 10 seconds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to control every task of my team. With ready integrations (namely Slack and Google Docs integrations) Asana makes communication and cooperation between my team members more effective. Asana has also improved performance time and quality of completed tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
my team managed to use free version for almost two years. We upgraded to paid version only when our team grew and we had to add more people to our workspace. Check for Asana user cases posted in their blogs. There are some really good tips there which will ease your work with Asana. Also Asana promotes agile project management and you can create a kanban board for your project if necessary.

Hard to learn but easy to use

  • November 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how many different features there are to make task managing easier. I also like the feeling of accomplishment when you mark a task complete! Due date reminders are helpful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
It seems overwhelming at first because it's hard to figure out where everything is located and how to use it, but once you figure it out it is super easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management, responsiveness, and updating on projects without having a ridiculously long email thread.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to figure out how to use it and it will be worth it.

The best tool for clarity in project management

  • November 09, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What impresses me the most about Asana is how you can add, assign, and edit tasks from their schedule.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am a pretty big fun of Asana. The only thing I would want is a few more functionalities to make Asana a little more versatile. A sub-platform similar to Slack would be perfect to make Asana the only go-to tool for project management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps me see my schedule clearly and easily schedule new projects. With Asana, I was able to no longer miss client deadlines - which improved my relationship with my clients. The email notifications are very helpful as well.

Asana works great for my group

  • November 08, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tasks and deadlines can be assigned to people in my work group and we can each track when tasks have been completed. This eliminates the need to "check in" on coworkers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Receiving email notifications when tasks are assigned... although I discovered that these can be managed to once a day or weekly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It works well for our task management needs. We have remote employees as well as office staff and using Asana allows us all to be on the same page regarding who is doing what on a project.
