User Friendly Day 1
What do you like best about the product?
This is a great software for inter-departmental projects, where multiple people play a stake in ensuring the project is completed. It allows you to collaborate easily without all the back and forth emails, ensures that uploads are all in one spot for everyone to see latest versions, and even lets you tag someone in a comments section for tasks if you have questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reminder feature is not a robust as other programs I've used. It will send you an email, but I don't see a way for it to give me mobile reminders, or for it to give me pop up reminders while I'm on the site itself. I also don't like that it takes a lot of steps to schedule a recurring task. Once you check off a recurring task, it immediately shows the next one on your to-do list, even if it's months away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're in the process of throwing our first ever live/silent auction, with multiple departments involved. This allows us to collaborate and touch base on the live auction, silent auction, our marketing, advtertising, sponsorship team, the decorations committee, etc. all in one place. It is a clear "snapshot" of what needs to be done, and you can assign sub tasks to other people that are required for you to complete a task. For example, if you create a task to "Create the Event Program Design" you can make subtasks for someone else to get you the sponsor's names/logos, and for an entirely different person to provide you with the program timeline, all in one spot!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're coming from Trellow or Producteev, or another project management software, this is a great user friendly option for multiple users. If you need a gantt chart though, this one won't work for you.
Asana - Best Free Project Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create separate workspaces for each department and project is a huge plus. Also, being able to assign recurring tasks and set due times for each task is fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
Free version does not allow for custom permissions for certain users. There is also no page for full management of the entire organization including all workspaces and projects created by all users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has sped up the project management process and communication with the business and clients. It allows us to review and edit technical and business specs all in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Absolutely recommend Asana if you are looking for a free project management tool for high to mid level tasks management.
Just getting started. So far, easy to use and very helpful.
What do you like best about the product?
Good free options. Easy colaberation. Great intregation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I should allow change from board to list.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
General productivity. And Department communication. As well as interdepartmental communication.
So far we have seen real improvement overall three.
So far we have seen real improvement overall three.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
From what I’ve seen this seems to be the best free software. Working right now for our small church staff. It’s generally flexible. And pretty easy to use. If you’re ready to spend more money there is probably a better option for you.
Effective Project Management Software
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create complex subtasks nested inside of bigger tasks. For a campaign with many moving parts, this is an effective way of laying out all the work necessary for our team. We are a team of 10 people but have clients in many other departments. We can create specific teams to manage the projects therein and only the team members who need access to those projects have to be added to those teams. We can also easily duplicate tasks, so that recurring emails or website projects can be added and assigned easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not a great overview of all the projects in a single category and the calendar view leaves something to be desired. You can't view a team-specific timeline of projects, which may not be a problem, unless you have many teams like our organization does.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a project management problem before Asana. We managed our projects via email through Outlook, which was not ideal. With Asana, we are able to quickly assign tasks and duplicate them for recurring projects. It also gives us an effective log of what we've accomplished.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana takes a little time to set up, but once the system for setting up projects is secure and the teams are created, it becomes much more powerful. Be prepared for managers to enter tasks as well. Individual users can enter their own tasks, but it works more smoothly when projects are entered by a supervisor and then assigned to individuals.
Asana does everything
What do you like best about the product?
Asana can pretty much replace multiple tools because it puts everything into one platform. I can manage the tasks I'm in charge of and also keep track of other assignments I distribute to the team. You can also have conversations within Asana and tag the person you want to address and it will send a notification to that person so they can see exactly what project you have questions or concerns about. You can also customize how the actual platform looks, like if you like a dashboard versus a list view. You can upload files, add links, have discussions and stay on top of projects and I love it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wasn't a big fan of the automated settings in Asana. It would always list things out as the newest task I created instead of listing everything by the due date. I did eventually figure out how to fix this, but I think the default should be due date. But, I recognize that's just a preference and it's literally the only thing I could even think of that I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Like I mentioned with the things that I like best, Asana eliminates the unnecessary back and forth of email communication. Instead of emailing someone and waiting on a response, I can find everything I need in Asana. I can strike up conversations, tag people, and manage projects with ease.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you try Asana, everyone on your team has to commit to using it. It only works if everyone is checking their Asana and completing assignments.
Simple but powerful project management system
What do you like best about the product?
I was able to get going quickly. Since its a pretty simple software I didn't have to go through training or figure things out. I just started which is awesome. I keep all of my projects for clients in Asana which keeps them happy because they can see where the progress is on each task and comment where they see fit. It's been a great tool for this freelancer and I recommend it to everyone who asks about PM.
What do you dislike about the product?
As always there has to be something that bugs you about software. For me, its the extra features that require a paid plan. I understand that they need to make money but as a freelancer, I'm not to the point that I can afford to pay for it so the little bit of limitations I have to deal with is ok.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deadlines. Happy customers. Happy life. Using Asana keeps everything organized and keeps me on top of projects so that I always deliver completed projects to the client on time or before. It's also a great reference point for getting a pulse on how many projects/time I've spent per client. Bottom line: it's saving me big headaches by keeping all my tasks organized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to get a project management system up and running quickly, Asana is for you. It's a great tool and you will be surprised at how many connections you can make with other tools and software.
Even the free version is great!
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to not only assign tasks from the platform, but also email tasks directly to the platform or set up zapier tasks to create tasks in the system. The calendar feature is awesome and the platform is so easy to use. It gives the ability to both create checklists of tasks or a post on a board to track and organize tasks - so you can modify your management to however your employees work best. Plus, you can set vacation time on your account so you aren't assigned a due date for when you'll be out of office - brilliant!
What do you dislike about the product?
That there are a lot of cool features I miss out on because we don't want to pay to upgrade to Premium. For the free version, you really get to do a lot. We don't have access to timelines, templates and priority settings but if we upgraded, Asana would definitely prove to be that much more powerful for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing our major projects into manageable chunks. Getting our team on the same page and managing workloads and timelines properly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a large team that needs to organize tasks, definitely go with Asana. It's so easy to use and it's very inexpensive. Even the free version helps us take care of everything we need!
Great task tracker
What do you like best about the product?
We use this for keeping track of IT tasks that come in so that we can update our users and track Google Docs, notes, and what we've tried so far to fix the problem.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many things are locked behind their premium features, which does make sense because they need to make money, but I feel it's over priced per user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to have a task list on our internal website, but Asana has allowed us so much more functionality. They have copy and paste for pictures built in, Google Drive functionality, and replying from email. It makes it much easier to update our users and they can respond from their phones if needed to keep us updated on the issues.
One of the best free project management tools available
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a great list maker. Easy to collaborate and put tasks in order, create sub-tasks, repeating events, etc. It's also really simple to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't a Gantt chart to see how everything you've entered compares to each other in a typical PM view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
General task management. Light project management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it, test it out. Looks like they are adding features all the time!
Good for to-do lists and tracking tasks
What do you like best about the product?
Good for to-do lists and tracking tasks if that's how you like to get organized (but not super great for project collaboration).
What do you dislike about the product?
Not great for collaborating on projects because there's no way to comment on actual content itself, just brief checklists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task tracking, to-do lists.
