A great task management tool.
What do you like best about the product?
After shopping around a bunch, Asana had the best interface for my needs. It was clean, simple to use, and very modern looking. The plentiful integrations also made Asana a great platform to branch out from. We integrated with Everhour to improve our time tracking.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really isn't much that I dont like in Asana, and the things that do come to mind are very "nit-picky" or small issues. I wish the left nav menu in the app was more streamlined. There is a lot of real estate devoted to headers or groups of reports/favorites/etc. that take up too much space, even when fully collaped. For exmaple, we don't use the favorites section, but collapsed it still takes up an inch and a half of left nav space.
Like I said, very nit-picky. The only other complaint is the lack of built in analysis tools for the projects. Asana exports to Google Docs, which is very helpful, but requires an intermediary step.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed greater levels of transparency into our group for our management, and Asana gives us that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Personally, I found using the built in template for deploying Asana helped greatly. It gave me a lot of pointers on how to get a successful deployment and how to get some traction with using Asana with my team. The built in templates are not just templates. They offer some good educational/training resources in there. Be on the lookout for little Easter eggs all over the place as well.
Found it!
What do you like best about the product?
There are so many different ways to keep organized for projects and day-to-day work. My note-taking, lists, and various paper to-do lists were not cutting it to keep me organized. I am not trained in MS Project, nor do I consider a lot of my work to be in heavy project management practices. Asana met me where I was at with my different kinds of work/projects, allowing me to stay organized, collaborate with others, and easily keep track of files, deadlines, notes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I suppose it would be nice to be able to make tasks private within a project. And, the license thing is a little funky to understand, but it's not too hard to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Asana, we can operate as a project team without others feeling like they are in a very formal setting. We get work done together. We get work done alone. It works for both. It's a common ground for 1:1 meetings, organizing our agendas and collecting thoughts throughout the week. The benefits have been exponential and all around the business--not something I would anticipate from a PM software.
I use Asana everyday and it makes staying organized so easy
What do you like best about the product?
I love the way it color coordinates everything. I keep track of my tasks and the president of the company's, and it has been a life saver.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the color options, i honestly wish there were a few more. Some of them are close in color and i rely heavily on the color to help me keep things aligned and together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for daily tasks but i also use it for projects and keeping track of long term ideas and tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is great, the best part about it is that you can kind of use it to your advantage. So, there is a "certain" way to use it, but at the same time it is flexible and you can alter it to fit your own needs.
A Project Manager’s Dream
What do you like best about the product?
I like the inbox feature. It can be overwhelming at times, but I like that it shows some of the biggest tasks you need to complete that day as well as shows you any updates to projects you are a part of. I also love the fact that you can add a task to multiple projects, that helps reduce the number of duplicate tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search feature isn’t amazing. I have a hard time finding tasks unless I remember the exact name of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is helping keep everyone on top of their deadlines for tasks and projects and uniting different departments within the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It will transform your work productivity. Honestly I’m not sure how we got anything done while using strictly email for all communication.
Solid Project Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ability to create different teams and different projects. Great way for dividing up work and keeping teams who work on projects together organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish it was easier to control who is allowed to assign tasks - sometimes the project owner should be the only one assigning tasks. Also, being able to edit documents within the program would be helpful - the last time I used, you can share documents, but you have to download edit and re-upload. This can create confusing with multiple docs in the program. To work around, my company used google docs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of tasks for diverse projects when multiple members from different teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Initial set up and implementation is key. Making sure everyone in your organization understands how to use the program is important. It is also important that everyone switches to using the program at the same time. We experienced issues when only some departments were fully using, creating confusion for whether or not tasks were getting completed, read, or assigned.
It's fine
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Asana provides a place to keep track of all parts of a task as well as the deliverables
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't seem to me to be different from many other products that are out there or that I've used. It's also confusing for me to find the things I need to find.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is great for my organization since folks aren't really able to keep track of deadlines and deliverables. They still can't keep track of deadlines, but at least there's a place to refer to for deadlines and keep people accountable.
Asana Team and Work Tracking
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Asana is the effortless task focussed communication. The system simultaneously tracks the details of projects being worked on along with the communication surrounding those details. It is all very natural. There is a free version available for smaller groups and it is quite powerful. It is only recently that we upgraded to the paid version in order to access the project dependencies and time management functions available within Asana.
What do you dislike about the product?
I selected the product and found it difficult to navigate and use. However my staff naturally took to it and a year or two after adopting Asana our whole company project management and task oriented communication was being managed by it. Staff gave me a training on how they had adopted it and I came to appreciate its power. I would say it wasn't initially obvious how to properly use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have succeeded at speeding up the implementation of some rather large software development projects. Asana helps to keep track of all the sub-tasks within a project and ensures that they are being dealt with. Communication and the history of discussion around each task is maintained in perpetuity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana makes communication smoother for large and small projects.
Intro to Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's free for basic uses and small teams. Quick to lean. We have team members of various "technological knowledge" who have been able to master using it. Personally, I also like how it will send polite reminders to others when something is due from them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the controls when creating or removing tasks (or groups of tasks) can be tricky. For example, if you accidentally hit enter you will create another task line. But then you have to go into a menu to delete it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Upper management is able to check in on what the team is working on without directly asking. It's also allowed us more autonomy because the work gets done without micromanagement.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Since the basic version is free, get in there and try it out before you determine if it's right for you!
A great resource if the whole company is on board!
What do you like best about the product?
I'm the only one in my company that uses Asana to keep track of my tasks and projects, so I'm not using it to it's fullest potential. Since no one else is using it, I can't delegate tasks and have online conversations about projects with my coworkers, but I can imagine this tool would be incredible if a company was very technological.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a little difficult to start using, but most of it is more of an internal struggle weather you want to add something as a task or a project. It's easy to reorganize your tasks though should you need to change them. Overall, it takes a little time, but then you get the hang of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main business problem I'm solving (as the sole user) is being more organized. Paper and pen are great tools, and I still enjoy writing things down, but having an electronic tracking system is beneficial too. Plus, I really love that they have reports on how many tasks have been completed to give you an idea of how successful everyone is at time management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think this is a great tool for a large company with many hands working on the same tasks. My corporate office is small, about 40 people, and we are very cost conscious so it's hard to implement with a small team. I can imagine for a large company with 40 people working on one project, this would be an extremely beneficial tool!
New Timeline feature-perfect timing Asana
What do you like best about the product?
The first week of every quarter we have a strategy week. This feature has made it easier to plan out the whole quarter for our team!
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, I haven't found anything to dislike about this feature-I'm looking forward to this for long-term projects to see how effective it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides an at-a-glance view of what is happening now on a project and what's to come. It's easy to use and the layout is attractive and simple.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The direction Asana is heading is going to be extremely helpful for our team and increase our efficiency. They continue to add features that really work and we really need.
