Asana -- very good, one missing feature I would like

  • January 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great, good mobile app, lost of features, tags, etc. Very powerful, sometimes it feels like I discover new things all of the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish they would go over their product updates in more depth, and they really need to allow me to filter the calendar by tags so i can have specific views.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How to manage all of the tasks within the teams. Accountability and keeping track of everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great product.

Easy to use with Slack

  • January 02, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use the integration for Slack to manage our team’s work. It keep our work and conversations straight when we are switching between Asana and Slack. Moreover, I get personal notifications for work I'm assigned and following right in Slack to quickly see what’s happening.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't very easy to learn to use. In addition it is a little bit expensive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage our team's work and we have more control with our tasks in every project
Recommendations to others considering the product:
go for it

Positive and easy to use

  • January 02, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I'm able to communicate in an effective manner with my team here. I also like that we can all see what everyone is working on throughout the week and are able to help hold each other accountable and bounce ideas off of each other.
What do you dislike about the product?
The done feature is confusing once a task is completed. It doesn't make sense to me to have a done button but also having the capability of moving it into the completed tasks column..it get's a little confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving communication problems as well as time management problems. I have realized by staying on top of adding weekly tasks and what I'm working on into asana each week that there isn't grey area for my coworkers regarding what I'm currently working on.

Great tool to keep your team on track

  • January 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a great collaborative tool to log project deliverables and keep you and your co-workers on track towards accomplishing your goals. I love Asana's UI which allows you to visualize when tasks are due in relation to the great project, making a large goal seem much more manageable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really on the features side of things. I wish the cost was a bit lower, but even with what we pay it's worth the cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team works across multiple time zones and Asana allows us to assign, log, update and collaborate on deliverables that are needed for a larger, company-wide project.

Great Task Management Tool

  • December 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the visibility Asana give me into tasking and activities across team members. I get a lot of value out of the month at a glance view, which enables us to see parallel work-stream activities and make not of any dependencies.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I really dislike about the product. The user interface is fresh and clean, though it can sometimes seem a little too simplistic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our virtual, global team was having trouble managing tasks and coordinating activities. Asana helped us keep track of tasks across teams and gave leadership insight into the activities taking place. It helped us better plan for future activities, after we gained a better understanding of how long some tasks took.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create clear rules and expectations for using the product in your organization. One of the best decisions we made was stop listing tasks in emails and only use Asana for task tracking. Organizational adoption of the tool meant we needed to figure out what to do with Asana and what not to do with other tools we used. We started using email to collaborate with external parties and we used asana to track tasks internally in the organization. This really helped us stay more organized.

A robust project management tool

  • December 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana provides countless options for project management—with plenty of customization to ensure that every detail of a project can be managed, tracked, and accomplished.
What do you dislike about the product?
With such robust offerings, Asana is not the most simple to use. It takes some time to get a hang of it, and even then, it isn't overly simple or fun to use. It gets the job done with lots of features, but isn't overly engaging to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana made it easy to communicate with a large distributed team and keep everyone on the same page.

Asana, great when everyone is on board

  • December 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has great functionality. It's awesome for managing a wide variety of projects across and between different teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
The integration with email and calendar on Outlook can be clunky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used Asana to get a diverse team of people situated in different buildings on the same page. It allowed greater oversight and tracking of diverse projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to fully onboard everyone in your organization. This product works best when every user really understands it. It fell off for teams that weren't sufficiently trained.

What do you like best about the product?
beautiful animations that take place when you finish a task gamify completion.
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes the layers within layers within layers of tasks can be confusing. would be nice to see how many subtasks exist within a parent cell from the top level view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
organization and timeline.

Not too bad

  • December 28, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is clean. Color in the right places and seemingly organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
The overflow of notifications required for the system to work is crazy. If there were more prominent notifications you wouldn't need to rely on the Inbox so much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am subcontracting with a client that uses Asana. I have realized that I just don't like it. I don't know that it's any one thing, just the little things that get to me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is getting better. I've tried it before when it was just awful but they are getting there. If it works for you, great. I just find myself needing more custom experiences so I go with Podio.
