Easy as pie!

What do you like best about the product?
I felt as though my projects were piling up and I wasn't sure how to organize them . My supervisor was feeling the same way. We found Asana! She sent me an invitation via email which I liked. I like how simple the website is and how easy the platform is to use. I love how organized it makes you. I also enjoy that you can choose to take a task and complete it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the amount of emails they send . I already use the program and app. I don't feel I need emails marketing the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Much more organized. Realized the benefit of being able to work with groups of people on a project and have questions in one place through use of the comments section. When we have meetings, we can now task things to each person.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This really is a nice tool to have. It's very simple, clean design makes it easy to stay organized . No clutter.

Project tracking made even easier

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's free (can't beat that!), its sophisticated, and has a lot of great features that really help to streamline projects with small to large teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a whole lot. It really seems like whatever I need from a project management system, Asana has it. I suppose for some folks, there may be some integrations that are not there that could be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficient and dynamic task and project management with real-time status updates and notifications to ensure all parties working on given assignments are notified and acknowledge tasks at hand.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is free to try, give it a shot. It is also very easy to create and track projects in real-time.

Great way to keep you and a team of others organized

What do you like best about the product?
I am just learning the advanced features of this software but is it great for staying organized and on track. I love the task calendar and workspaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the notifications on the inbox get lost when you have a number of projects going on at once. I wish there was a better way to sort them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Speed is number one. Keeping better track of projects is another. Setting due dates and sub tasks is incredibly powerful.

Excellent for basic team task management

  • January 04, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a very aesthetically pleasing interface that is intuitive and makes it easy to perform basic task management. Team collaboration, basic cost management, and budgeting are also easily performed in Asana.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sub-task management is not optimal. I wish Asana offered unlimited layers of sub-tasks and had better visibility into complete project plans. Project reporting and portfolio management is somewhat lacking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana for a 10 person team. Using Asana for team collaboration and task management is much more efficient that just using Outlook. It is also much easier and makes a lot more sense to use Asana for project collaboration rather than searching through internal emails or trying to manage tasks manually with Microsoft Outlook. All things considered, we probably recognized a positive return on our investment in Asana within a month of deploying just from time savings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you are comfortable with limited reporting at the project level.

What do you like best about the product?
It's an issue to use platform that allows you to share tasks, delegate, and mark things completed while giving you the sense of accomplishment that you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like it to give me the ability to upload photos into tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dance studio retention and marketing of our bi-annual productions.

Good Program Idea, not great execution

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the project management portion of it, it makes it easy to communicate from person to person. It's also very useful for keeping track of tasks and due dates. Due dates tend to slip through the cracks, but I think that this shows them right up front so it's hard to miss things.
What do you dislike about the product?
I like the idea of how people communicate using the program but I think that it needs a little bit more work. When there is more than one or two people using it, things can get lost in a project somewhere. I also don't think that Asana is necessarily best for every kind of project (not that it needs to be) but I noticed while I was working on a design project, that it was hard to make edits to things and send images back and forth. I also don't like the idea of replying to comments via email. It tends to get messy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't know if I'm necessarily solving any problems. But the benefits I realized were how easy it is to communicate with a third party using this product. Things can get tricky when working with someone outside of your company, and this helps to make things easier, rather than sending bunches of emails back and forth.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would suggest turning off the email notifications while you are working on a project. Your inbox can fill up quickly, especially with the more people that you have working on the program. It's good for anything business related, but I wouldn't suggest using it for design projects unless you're just using it as a way to keep track of tasks.

Helpful for some, not so much for us

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can see what everyone in your organization is doing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Felt bulky with lots of layers. Was still hard to keep communication transparent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was helpful for some projects that really required multiple layers of participation, but we found we didn't use it much on a day-to-day basis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is probably more helpful for projects that have lots of people involved than for projects that have 2 or 3 participants. Email still works better for the small stuff.

    Education Management

a great communication and task management tool

  • January 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature is what I call task inception.. creating tasks within tasks. I also like the calendar view, and the new overview feature is nice but I have not figured out how to implement it in a way that is useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really wish it had a print feature that would allow us to print our task lists and project lists to be able to print copies share them during meetings when we are not attached to a device. This feature would make Asana a 10 in my book.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication is much easier, and I no longer lose track of notes or details of a project.

Great for teams with simple project management needs

  • January 03, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to add and organize tasks flexibly. As priorities change, it's easy to switch things around as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes some features were a little harder to find than I would have expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My old team used Asana to get organized with the various projects we all had to do. This made it easy to see what everyone was doing and what the progress was on everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana can either be simple or complex depending on your needs, but for three people on the team I was on, it was a good fit.
