My review of Asana
What do you like best about the product?
I love the fact that the software is flexible, fast, and carries a sleek and modern design. It has a very capable free version and it is feature-rich as well. The new Timeline view makes it easier to manage dependencies.
What do you dislike about the product?
This software is not ideal for graphics-intensive work. One simply can't switch between Task and Kanban project views after creation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is a top-notch collaboration tool that helps our team manage all kinds of tasks. Although it was a bit confusing at first, its flexibility and vast capabilities were well worth the initial effort it takes to get started.
Clean and efficient way to manage projects
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very collaborative and allows each user to see all statuses and details of every project in the company. Users can comment and tag other users to keep all parties updated. Project statuses and ownership help managers stay on top of multiple ongoing projects at once.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way tasks and subtasks are organized makes the platform confusing to use at times. Sometimes to many email notifications for task due dates are sent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to efficiently manage projects with Asana. Instead of searching for email chains regarding the latest status of a project, we do a quick sweep in Asana for updates. Executive management is able to see everything that has been completed within a certain time frame by pulling a report of Asana tasks.
Decent Project Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Visually, it is very calming. Some people around the office pronounce is like ass-ana, which is also nice. Integration with Slack has also been helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tasks seem to get lost easily. A better way to bucket tasks together would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing tasks. For a long time, tasks weren't all located in a central place. Then we started using Asana and we ended up preventing a lot of overlap and lost assignments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look into other alternatives. Hive and Trello have been great for what my current company does. Asana worked well for the smaller firm I used to work for though.
Using what the Client Wanted me to use
What do you like best about the product?
It works well for small teams that are new to project tracking/communications platforms. Easy for most to understand. However, there are better packages if you have complex projects with large teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't reply to the alert email - must go into the package to update, respond or message. Not intuitive in use. I don't like the charting/project progress method - as it is not based on a percentage completion but a user deciding it is "complete" or blocked. You need to be very specific with subtask titles, it is easy to get lost if multiple tasks have similar subtask names. The team got confused multiple times with the subtasks, recording changes in the Master Case/Select Vendor (task/subtask) that should have gone to Retail Box/Select Vendor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing the transfer of a supply chain from Africa to North America.
Fairly dependable for a free program
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to share with multiple colleagues
What do you dislike about the product?
Layout does not fill up the page; lots of white space
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration across the country is nice; we needed a platform to share tasks, and this one does the job
Asana for Project Mgmt
What do you like best about the product?
Organize tasks and assign tasks with deadlines
What do you dislike about the product?
It costs to put them in a calendar and see them in date order. It's hard to just see the most recent comments without re-reading everything
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Facebook Ads, Social Media Management (Getting needed material from client)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great for assigning tasks with deadlines
Need a Project Fixed?
What do you like best about the product?
Great for communicating to different departments bugs, requests and presenting tasks needed to be completed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t like all the notification by email send. I wish we would get monthly updates. Also, notified clearly once yours if being looked at and more direct when a case it completed. It’s hard to keep up with task you’ve created in the past and log in when it isn’t our main platform that we use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bugs get fix all the time through the in house platform we created. Wonderful place for coworkers to share their ideas to improve work flows
Great for project management for remote employees
What do you like best about the product?
Access by several remote team members/collaborators. We are able to quickly see workload and shift as needed. Additionally, contract/freelancers could easily access system and update progress on various projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some calendar planning functions were lacking that were under development for future release. We were hoping to use this more robustly for trade show planning and management, however some of the calendar functions we wanted regarding events/tasks were not yet available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solved our ways to manage contract and remote team members' tasks and workload. Extremely helpful to communicated to cross-functional teams on progress. Also was a simple enough system that freelancers and contract employees could gain access and use with little to no extra training/on-boarding.
Asana
What do you like best about the product?
asana makes timelines pretty easy to visualize and see
What do you dislike about the product?
For me, it was a hard adjustment to get used to and to understand the program. This is the reason for the lower marks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
asana allows everyone on our team keep up to date with deadlines. We just recently started using the program, so as far as long time use, I do not have much to say about that.
Love Asana but wish they'd fix one little thing
What do you like best about the product?
I really do enjoy Asana. It's got an interesting and intuitive UI, it's easy to use and makes sense. While originally used for managing tasks and 1:1's for professional development, we've come to use it as an entire project management software for full implementation projects. The ability to add users outside of my organization so I can send notifications is exactly what my team has been needing for years. While there was some learning curve for the whole team, I found things pretty intuitive and process of building out a project makes sense to me, and templating the projects makes our lives so much easier.
The only caveat I have is that clicking on a line item makes it immediately editable, and this is a huge pain.

What do you dislike about the product?
I really only have one major concern with Asana, and it's a funny one from a UI standpoint. Perhaps other people don't see it this way, but I do.
When I am viewing and managing my tasks in Asana, the one thing that drives me absolutely crazy is that as soon as I click on a line, it's immediately become text-editable. So, any time I just want to click on a line, it goes into this mode and I always end up accidently typing or erasing, or just needing to click out of that box. I love everything else about Asana except for this. It doesn't make sense to me, and probably will not. Perhaps I'm the 1% who hate this feature, but there's gotta be a better way - at least make edit ability a double-click option.

We are using Asana for project management software. Where this was originally just a task management software for professional development, we've realized this can be used to manage full projects. The features we've found while really building out projects have become a massive help to our team and our clients are reaping the benefits. It's so easy to communicate tasks to clients with this tool, now.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While this was originally just given to us as a simple task management software, once we opened it up and started building projects to manage in Asana we realized just how capable it actually is. Where we thought it didn't have a lot of use to us at first, it's now becoming a go-to tool for my team to operate efficiently.
