Asana Review

  • December 09, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how simple it is to use. I started first using it 4 years go. Many of our clients use ASANA because it's free. I just stated using your Boards and they are great.
What do you dislike about the product?
I use Teamwork for my big client - the big reason is that Asana does not do Templates. I wish I could save a task or certain task list and easily populate them. This is big for project that happen every 5 months - ASANA needs a way that I could have a templates library.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the issue of always using email - where things get lost. I am keeping things much more organized. I also am able to keep my inbox clean - I'll just forward my task to ASANA and do not forget it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please create a templates list that I can save.

Very easy to use and keep track of tasks in a team

What do you like best about the product?
I like the amount of collaboration you can get done by keeping a classified to do list and assign tasks on a team.

The comments section is specially useful for me to keep track of decisions on projects whitout having to send emails on small things to my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like it if it was easier to make interaction with other programs like evernote. I tried doing this but it wsa very complicated. If i could export to do lists by team member and with deadline to a document I could send on an email this would be amazing! Some ind of exporting automated tool.

Another thing I wish was more flexible, is how many sub tasks you can add in each individual bullet.

Finally I think asana would benefit from making it easier for people to have an application on their desktop instead of logging in on a web browser. I struggled to have this done although I eventually manage to do it on my pc and mac.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have realized its easy to keep track of small tasks and record decision on projects to keep a log of what is happening. I use t more to keep track of to dos than for reminding me of deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very recommendable to keep track of tasks divided in groups.

Asana is annoying and counterproductive

What do you like best about the product?
It looks nice. Their designers have done a pretty good job.
What do you dislike about the product?
The functionality is very poor. When tasks are complete, the associated conversations are archived. This makes searching for notes extremely difficult. Similarly, organization of tasks is not very easy, resulting in clients posting notes in the wrong task thread or making redundant tasks. This all boils down to the task lists being visually indistinct and search not being intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This service hasn't solved any of my problems. A client requested I use it, so for 3 months we struggled to utilize it effectively. It was useful when we had 6 things to do. When the list exceeded 15, Asana became more of a hindrance than a help. But there is no easy way of keeping sub-tasks organized, causing massive list bloat.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't bother. You'll get more utility out of using Google Sheets on Drive.

Comprehensive, easy to use for workplace and personal task management

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can create different categories. I use one Asana account to manage my work tasks and my personal to-do lists, and I have projects within each category so I can find and track all the different things I have to manage quickly. Communicating with team members, and assigning tasks to others, is really quick and easy. The whole program is very intuitive, there's relatively no learning curve, and it can be shared easily with others. You can share projects, tasks, calendars, conversations... it really allows you to play well with others without having to work very hard to do it. The application plays well with Google, too, making it even handier for me - you can export data to spreadsheets or calendars... And Asana is hooked up in Zapier, meaning you can create custom triggers to other applications which I love.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm working hard here to think about what I dislike about Asana... and I'm not coming up with much. If I really had to find something, I'd say that the text in the canned reminder emails is odd - but I'm sure it can be configured.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm a total scatterbrain in my personal life, and I'm ridiculously organized at work. I decided to use Asana to manage not only my work tasks but my personal tasks as well and it has been a huge help for me.
Business problems I'm solving... I work in a very small startup company, so I have a lot of different jobs. Asana helps me to manage all my priority 1's across projects and gives me a quick and easy view of what's on my plate, ensuring I'm never going to miss something simply because I didn't realize everything was due RIGHT NOW. It has really helped to take the panic out of the busy times.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it. You have nothing to lose, and I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Good tool to track tasks

  • December 08, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
After the redesigning it became a lot better.
New features and good UX, also offers a good variety of integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not as powerful as some other corporate tools and yet not as simple as some beginners PM tools. This thing of staying in the middle makes me find it not really useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking our editorial projects.
It's good to keep track of the tasks as to delegate tasks to team members.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want an upgrade to tools like Trello, Asana is a good way to go.

Asana along with Bullet Journaling is the only thing that's ever stuck.

What do you like best about the product?
new interface released is awesome. Simple to use. Better than evernote for tracking tasks. tags are good. if used properly replaces a lot of much more expensive software.
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing really. would like another layer of project management though. a higher level bucket for projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management. Organizing notes. Planning projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I haven't found anything better, easier, or more affordable for task management for consultants with multiple clients.

Super helpful task managing system and more

What do you like best about the product?
It's user interface is very easy and simple to communicate across teams. You can easily manage tasks, due dates, tags, and ques to keep projects simple and organized. Integrates well with Google Docs and other software, too.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you go to tag someone in a task, if you choose the wrong thing like 'Create a Task' instead of just tagging their name, you can't delete it, then start over. You have to exit the comment window and re-enter. Minor, but annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved the problem of documenting who is responsible for each part of the task. On email, there was just too much confusion and a lot of garbage to sort through. Now it's all housed within the task. Our projects run smoother and are more punctual.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for managing and organizing tasks. Holds users accountable and is great for client reporting, too. Keeps me on task with due dates and priorities. You can tag certain projects with custom labels like Priority or Urgent, etc., so you know what's important. Projects are organized nicely and the search function works well. I've never had an issue with Asana, so I don't know how good their support is. They also have a great app that helps me to stay productive even when I'm on the go. It's also easy for me to follow certain tasks and the Inbox tells me of anything I need to be aware of.

Great visual project manager

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy that the interface is simple to use. There's never been a glitch. I prefer the calendar view for my days.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that bothers me about Asana is that you have to refresh the page before a newly added task shows up in the calendar view. Also, there is no option for recurring events when creating a task in the calendar view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have too many tasks that are all over the place and Asana helps keep it all in one place. It keeps me able to see all my chores in one spot.

Great Project Mgmt Tool

  • December 06, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how I can keep my team on track by assigning specific due dates to specific tasks; and how the whole team can see the calendar and be aware of everything that has to get done that week. It's incredible that all these features are 100% free! That is honestly the primary reason why we've kept working with it. We've tried other project management tools, but we just can't keep them if theres a cost attached because our company is so small, we wouldn't be able to fit it in the budget.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it were more integrated with Google Calendar / iCal and I wish that I could assign a task to a team of people rather than just one person per task. The way the "Sections" are shown too could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been able to help keep my small design agency organized and efficient. It's the best way to work for us, since so often we are working remotely and in different time zones. It's a bit difficult for new team members to start getting used to it, but once they understand it, they tend to love it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out! Give it at least a month or more. I tried many others and they just didn't stick, but Asana is different.

Good at managing projects with a ton of fluffy extras

  • December 06, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can assign dates to subtasks. The organization of assignments is nice.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is way too crowded and clunky given the small number of things I ever think of doing in Asana. I'm sure the program is much more powerful than the way I use it, but there ends up being a lot of stuff I don't click on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing tasks collaboratively. We've been able to update everyone on the movement of a project just by changing the date in Asana.
