    Graphic Design

Asana is invaluable to my workflow and productivity

  • November 03, 2016

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is the one browser tab that I keep open at all times. Without it, I don't know how I would keep my work life organized. It's extremely user friendly and the UI is intuitive. I can't believe this product is free. It's stable and feature rich — it has more features than I'll ever need to use, but I appreciate them being there.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only think I might suggest is the layout of the emails I get when an update is made to a task. They're a little messy/difficult to read — hard to scan quickly and find the relevant piece of info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm a graphic designer and tasks are given to me by multiple people. Asana helps me keep these many tasks (and their sub tasks) organized and helps me prioritize deadlines, as well as communicate with my colleagues who issue me these tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would absolutely recommend Asana to any team that needs assign tasks, share files, communicate, and set deadlines. Personally, my use case is relatively simple — most of the activity happening in Asana for me is just between me and my manager. However, the program is so feature-rich that it can handle multiple employees and all the communication that needs to happen between them.

Asana has more features than I'll ever need, but those features would be extremely valuable for a team that has a more complicated setup than mine.

Maximize Productivity by keeping track of what is getting done

  • November 02, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With Asana, I am able to keep accurately categorized lists with due dates that you are able to check off as you are getting them done. By using Asana, I am more productive than ever before. I can plan out exactly what I am going to do each week over a month period and then check stuff off an move stuff around. There is no way something is going to come up that causes you to forget because all of your tasks are in one place. It is flexible too, so if something does come up you can add in a task but still get back to your other stuff when you need to.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I wish there was a queue instead of due dates, but that probably exists I just don't know about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It keeps me accountable for everything I need to get done in a month. Plus, if I add tasks as they come up and it accurately reflects everything I am doing I am then able to get everything done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Put all of your tasks in and keep track of it! You will get out what you put in.

A terrific lightweight project management system

  • November 01, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a simple and clean user interface. It scales nicely to small and large jobs. With integrated team management, it's easy to assign and share tasks for transparent project management. It's also incredibly affordable, a good fit for small offices and start-ups. I also like the fact that it integrates with other services, like Slack.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's simple structure allows it to work well with waterfall and agile PM methods, but you will need other tools to assist. Asana's offerings in the way of mapping out project dependencies, Gantt charts, risk assessment, etc are a little lacking and leave the product feeling a little more like a task manager than a full-fledged project management system. They are making major improvements in this area, however.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My small team was handling project management through random conversations, emails, and Google documents. Asana offered organization and transparency that you can't get through emails, and automation and followup that you can't get through Google docs without plugins.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look into how Asana connects to other tools before making a decision.

Good so far

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can use the software and get started for free. It's easy to enter projects and doesn't require a huge amount of fields to be laid out.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that the task list would sort automatically to the due date, or allow me to set a default.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am setting up a list of projects and tasks that I have for my team. I have yet to bring my entire team onboard, but the functionality to share projects seems good.

Great free tool- better with premium upgrade

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to collaborate on projects with team members. I can quickly attach documents to tasks to share with co workers. Graphs show the progress of projects. You can email the account to create new tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Upgrading to premium only upgrades 1 space. The mobile app isn't free. I havent downloaded it either because it looks to be missing some major functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility into project status. I'll never forget when someone asks me to do something. At the time I'll create a task and include all the notes and descriptions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Upgrade to the premium version. If your team is using it every day it is worth it.

Project Management App of Choice

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana gives me the best of both worlds. I've been looking for a project management tool that will allow me to use both lists and sublists of tasks while being able to visualize things by due date in a calendar view. As a marketer, it's incredibly handy to be able to see a list of tasks based on due date while also being able to set up a content calendar and be easily able to drag and drop content pieces around to best fit our production schedule.

I think the killer feature is the ability to have nested lists. On many project management apps I've used have nested lists but those lists and list items don't have the same functionality as the parent list item. Asana gives me the ability to scope out a project with high-level due dates while also being able to assign roles and due dates for subtasks. This is great for viewing what tasks you need to prioritize because you can assign subtasks and earlier due date, allowing me visibility into my workload weeks ahead of the due date.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much bad I can say about Asana. It meets all my needs for a task/project management app. One feature I would love, that I think is missing, is the ability to set notification preferences on a task by task basis. If I know I have something due 1 week out and I need to work on that task all week, I would like to be able to set a custom notification to notify me on the Monday morning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Asana as the main person in the Marketing department. I'm trying to better manage my day to day while keeping my eye on longer term projects. Asana has enabled me to get a view of the few tasks I need to prioritize each day while becoming the home page of my work day. With the ability to add documents or attach from Google drive, it has truly become the one-stop shop for managing my time and finding all project related documents.

Great Project Management

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We used this at work for each division (ie Sales, Customer Success, Product). I really liked the Project Management and visibility it created working with my team members. We could see what needed to be done, who was on it, and when it was due.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure there's too much I didn't like. I probably could have used it more than I did, but enjoyed the overall experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management. We had several internal objectives we were wanting to accomplish and Asana helped us keep track of everything that was going on.

Keeping my work day sane!

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is simple, easy to use and best of all, it is free! (At least for a small business owner like myself that just has a few employees.)
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had to be picky--I wish there was more ways to organize the tasks or make a more structured workflow. (I'm being picky with this though--I really don't have any complaints!)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps me to keep projects from slipping through the cracks and keeps my projects on time. Plus, it helps me to keep tracking of time spent on the project, attachments, etc... Basically, when a customer asks a question about the project, even months from now, I will be able to look it up in Asana and provide them an answer!

Great Project Management Software for teams!

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to manage projects across remote teams. Allows for varying degrees of visibility, depending on responsibilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes requires work upfront to "load the system."
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work with several remote team members. This keeps our projects on track, regardless of location of the team member.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be sure you have a big enough team to work with Asana (three minimum) and that you all use the system.

Asana the good, the bad and the ugly

  • October 30, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how many reminders that you can set up in Asana. If there is a very important task that I need done asana makes sure that I remember to do it. I get emails that show me which tasks that I need to complete and I even get alerts on my phone.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how disorganized it seems to be. Sometimes I am looking for a certain tasks and it is no longer on my dashboard. I later realize that it is archived. I don't like how things can be all over the place in this system. It is not very user friendly. The interface does not seem to flow exactly the way that it should.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This site gives me access to all of my employees in one area. It allows everyone to be able to speak to each other so that there isn't more than one person working on a task at a time.
